  • This paper aims to develop the art programs supporting prosocial behaviors of young children from multicultural and typical Korean families. On the basis of the survey results and literature review, art activities were planned. And the program was executed amongst young children from multicultural and typical Korean families to test the applicability of the program. The young children in the program showed either positive attitudes or conflicts with their peer group at the beginning. As the program continued, young children were gradually harmonized, yielding to each other and were negotiating. During the last stage of the program, young children from multicultural and typical Korean families demonstrated prosocial behaviors of sharing, helping, and cooperating with each other. These kinds of results prove that the art programs are helpful in promoting prosocial behavior among young children from multicultural and typical Korean families. Therefore, it appears that an educational institute in which young children from multicultural families are taught would be able to support prosocial behavior for young children from multicultural and typical Korean families using this program.

In particular, their art activities had a positive effect on their self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy and motivation in the experimental group, supporting the educational effects and benefits of developmental children's art activities through forest experience in relation with Nuri curriculum. In other words, art activities through forest experience are useful in terms of providing children with creative expression activities in art by leading to observation and exploration, as well as educational experiences that have positive attitudes toward the environment. Conclusion: As children's art activities through forest experience have a positive effect on their environmental sensitivity, more useful information on teaching-learning methods will be able to be provided to early childhood teachers in the field. Consequently, children's art activities through forest experience need to be actively introduced in the field of early childhood education as an alternative for learning nature and improving environment-friendly emotional intelligence.

Second, the teachers recognized that limiting the number of players in a same center is the most important thing among the three restriction rules. Third, the teachers' perception regarding the necessity of restriction rules is as follows. The rule of restricting the number of players is needed to prevent too many players focusing in a certain center. The rule of restricting play time is necessary to encourage children to play in various centers, and the rule of restricting play space is crucial to solidify the educational purpose that every interest center has. The meaning and the necessity of the restriction rules on children's free choice activities were further discussed as connected with children's right to play.

  • In the digital age, children can express their ideas in both physical and digital environments. Electronic textile or e-textiles with Lilypad Arduino provides children with opportunities to explore design ideas and to realize their imagination into physical artefacts. This study aims to analyze the nature of activities and perceptions among 16 children in fifth and sixth grade in a primary school in Seoul who participated in the 12-week e-textile project. To this end, two teachers who taught the class evaluated student-created artefacts from technical, critical, creative and ethical perspectives, and interviewed seven students to extract concrete experiences. The contribution of this study is that it offers a case study of how e-textile programs integrating arts and technology can be implemented in primary school settings and provides implications for future research directions.
