  • The study aimed to investigate the relative levels of grit and their relationship with potential dropping-out and university adjustment of foreign students in Korea. The subjects of this survey were gathered through purposive sampling, and 335 subjects were collected from university students in South Korea. First, the grit was significantly and positively correlated with emotional adjustment, social adjustment, university satisfaction, and academic adjustment, and was negatively correlated with potential dropping-out of university. Drop-out potential is negatively and significantly correlated with all subgroups of university life adjustment. Second, the grit is higher than the mid-point and drop-out potential is very low. Emotional adjustment and university satisfaction are the highest among the subgroups of university life adjustment but social adjustment is the lowest among them. Third, it was found that foreign students in the mid and high grit clusters are lower in mean drop-out potential rates than those in the low grit cluster. And foreign students in the mid and high grit clusters are higher than those students in the low university life adjustment group.

This aspect of the study, panel survey was used to researchers from the Korea Youth Policy and their parents of about the consciousness and family awareness, the youth of 6, 979 people. Youth Policy Institute of Korea analyzed the panel. frequency using SPSS program, AMOS using factor analysis, path analysis was performed. The following results were obtained. First, the family of functions of the sub-factors and school life adaptation sub-factors had a significant correlation with each other. Second, the youth's family function in school life adaptation had a significant impact which parameters, excluding self-identity. Third, the family functions as a self-identity parameter had a significant impact on school life adaptation.

  • In this study, we looked at whether the character strength of foreign students affects the adaptation of university life and tried to figure out whether cultural adaptation stress has mediating effect. To this end, we set up a research model based on prior research, conducted a survey of 263 foreign students belonging to G City and N City, and analyzed the data using the spss statistics program. As a result of the study, the character strength of foreign students was affecting the adaptation of university life, and the cultural adaptation stress of international students partially mediated the relationship between character strength and university life adaptation. Therefore, it is suggested that it is necessary to develop a program that reduces cultural stress and to have a professional counselor in the university who can continuously consult international students.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the self-resilience, professional self-concept, and major satisfaction on nursing students' adjustment to college life and to present the basic data to assist in healthy adaption of college life. The study included 310 students from two universities in Gwangju and Jeonnam. A questionnaire survey was conducted on the subjects to determine their self-resilience, professional self-concept, major satisfaction, and adjustment to college life with nursing as a major. The data were collected from 1, April, 2016 to 15, April using self-report, questionnaires and analyzed through descriptive statistics, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient, using SPSS 20.0. As a result, self-esteem, professional self-concept, major satisfaction, and adjustment to college life averaged 3.80 (out of 4), 2.81 (4), 3.86 (5), and 2.75 (5) respectively. In terms of correlations, there was a significant positive correlation between adjustment to college life and self-resilience (r=.404, p<.001) and professional self-concept (r=.404, p<.001) and major satisfaction(r=.455, p<.001). In addition, self-resilience (${\beta}=.252$, p<.001) and major satisfaction (${\beta}=.309$, p<.001) of variance in adjustment to college life and the explanatory power of the model was 27.2%. Based on these results, improvement programs are necessary to help nursing students get adjusted to college life.

  • In this study, I collected materials through the survey whose object is 573 students of technical high schools and 512 students of academic high schools in Seoul and Kyunggi areas, for examining dangerous factors and protective factors which influence on school resilience in technical high schools. The studying results are as followed. First, as the result of analyzing correlation between school resilience and dangerous factor, the higher dangerous factor was, the lower school resilience was. Second, as the result verifying the effects of dangerous factor on school resilience, discrimination of teacher, delinquency bond and anti-sociality made an effect on students in technical high schools and discrimination of teacher, delinquency bond and depression made an effect on students in academic high schools. Third, as the result analyzing correlation between school resilience and protective factor, the higher protective factor was, the higher school resilience was. Forth, as the result verifying the effects of protective factor on school resilience, support of teacher, democratic atmosphere of school, sense of responsibility, family cohesion, self-worth, rational supporting attitude made an effort on students in technical high schools and support of teacher, democratic atmosphere of school, sense of responsibility and family cohesion made an effect on students in academic high schools. • The purpose of this study was to examine the mechanism through which youth school-based mentoring program impacts mentees' psychological and school-related outcomes such as self-esteem, self-efficacy, and attitudes toward school. The hypothetical model was assumed that mentors could improve their mentees' developmental outcomes through positive relationships with mentors as good role models and enhancement of help-seeking orientation. To investigate the mediating effect of process-related outcomes, structural equation modeling was used. The 97 adolescents were recruited through referral and random selection from middle schools in Seoul. The result showed that the effects of program participation were mediated by proximal changes in connectedness to role models and development of help-seeking orientation that, in turn, led to facilitate more positive attitudes toward school and academic activity, and improve psychological outcomes. Practice and policy implications as well as further research topics were discussed to aid the search for highly effective mentoring programs.
