The purpose of this research is to identify critical factors for facilitating school library reading programs and to develop guidelines for school library development. For this. relevant studies including several school library case studies were reviewed and analyzed. Also a survey was conducted for school library personnel. The survey findings showed that there was still lack of consensus on defining school library reading programs or school library use programs. Moreover, it is also found that in most cases school libraries neither have professional school librarians nor provide appropriate training to them. As a result it is recommended that for developing effective reading programs, school libraries need to fix the current problems and try to develop collection development plans for supporting reading programs, in cooperation with classroom teachers to develop library reading programs as a part of the curriculum. and ultimately with local public libraries.

The purpose of this study is to analyze tasks of the librarians manning reading guidance at public library in order to enhance the professionalism of reading instruction required by librarians. For this purpose, we used the study method such as literature study and FGI analysis. As a result, The duty and task for Special Librarians in Reading Guidance was organized with 15 duties and 55 tasks.

The reading camp program for mutual reading activities between reader`s advisers and readers which has been played four times in 2000 shows the reaction to reading activities among them as follows. $\circled1$ All of reader`s advisers and readers took an active part in the reading camp program and reader's advisers were more active. $\circled2$ All of participants of the reading camp was satisfied by all of the reading program and especially leaders were affected by daily life of reader`s advisers. $\circled3$ All of participants had an opportunity of reflections on his reading activities and leader`s advisers established their sense of life and sense of values in more affirmative. The reading camp program helped participant to enhance his reading life very much and yet reader`s advisers acquired something more than readers did especially.

현장에서 학생을 지도하는 교사들은 독서의 중요성과 독서지도의 필요성을 인식하면서도 독서지도에 많은 부담을 느끼고 있다. 또한 획일적인 독후감 쓰기를 강요함으로써 많은 초등학교 학생들 또한 독서를 감동이나 즐거움이 아닌 교과목의 한 과제로 여기고 있다. 본 연구는 초등학생들의 독서 흥미를 유발하기 위하여 독후 감상활동을 자유롭게 할 수 있는 홈페이지의 장을 마련하고 웹상의 독서지도를 통해 일선 학교 교사들의 독서지도 일반화 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to develop the curriculum for the private certificates of reading instruction newly which can perform a reading instruction effectively in digital environment as the digital technology has changed the overall paradigm of reading. The curriculum for the private certificates of reading instruction was designed and proposed finally through deriving the implications over an study of the changes about reading paradigm in digital environment, searching the features and benefits over an in-depth analysis of domestic and international curriculum practices for training reading specialist, collecting the opinions and verification work over a Delphi survey of experts in the field of reading instruction. The finally developed curriculum consists of 6 kinds of training area, 21 kinds of subject and 82 kinds of training course content respectively to achieve the main function and purpose of the changed reading instruction in digital environment and in order to train reading specialist capable of applying properly them in reading instruction field.

본 연구는 세 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 첫 부분에서는 문헌을 통해서 어린이를 위한 독서지도의 필요성과 어린이들이 지니고 있는 독서흥미 그리고 그에 따른 지도 방안을 고찰해보았다. 둘째 부분에서는 우리나라 공공도서관에서 이루어지고 있는 어린이를 위한 독서지도 현황을 설문조사 및 면담법을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 셋째 부분에서는 이상의 분석결과를 토대로 어린이 독서회에서 적용할 수 있는 독서지도 프로그램을 작성해 보았다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of the reading guidance for the youth among personality types. This presented the desirable way of the reading guidance through the differences. For this study, the data was collected through observation and focus group interview while reading guidance was implemented among senior year elementary school students and middle school students. This study revealed the possibility of the reading guidance based on personality type. As a result of the reading guidance, this showed the differences between personality type and reading attitude; and between reading tendency and product writing of the youth.

It had been said that reading education in Japan has a goal to 'Lead children's character to a desirable direction'. Since the 2000s, Japan's reading activity was directly linked with an education program to improve children's education ability. These movements for reading in Japan is made more concrete by the 'Promotion Act on Children's Reading Activities'. For improving the reading skills of the younger generation in Japan, cooperation among homes, regions, and schools is needed. As a result, Japan has an opportunity to build an educational infrastructure for reading support services. The library has also been given an enhanced role as a learning commons. In this background, this study tried to analyze the current state of Japan's reading instruction qualification system, and show their efforts to foster reading specialists for improving the reading skills of the younger generation. This will generate the momentum needed to have the library evolve into learning commons.

Today's society demands that Individuals need to acquire skills to select information they need, read critically that have been gathered and use them for their advantage. The ability to actively respond to information can be cultivated through reading which facilitates creative, critical thinking, and self-initiated learning. This research presents results from a study in which subject-centered approach to reading guidance was applied to elicit positive changes in reading attitudes and to contribute to the elevation of self-concept among adolescents. Using survey questionnaire, we compared the changes in reading attitude before and after treatment. The results indicate that subject-centered reading instruction brought positive changes in reading attitude among middle school students, contributed positively to the formation of self-concept and the improved student initiated learning.

The purpose of this study was to suggest effective reading guidance using studying cartoons for the reading motivation. We conducted a survey at 3 junior high schools in Chung-Nam province, consisting of 182 students in 6 classes in an attempt to analyze what motivates reading. We propose strategies that can encourage students to read using cartoons, books, and multimedia guides.
