  • In order to attract consumers in the advertisement media and large discount marts, there needs to be a strong brandimage with a competitive and distinctive packing design. This study recognized the importance of packing designs and investigated consumers' preference for brands depending on packing designs of drinks in order to draw out consumers' positive attitudes toward the brand. The consumers feel that there are more fruit content in the drink that expresses its ingredients realistically than the drink that expresses its ingredients unrealistically on the packing design. The study also examined the consumers' preference for brands depending on their interests in well-being and the expression in the packing designs. In result, the difference was statistically significant. The study investigated the most preferred container for drinks was glass bottles and the most preferred orange juice was the fruit 100% content. Therefore, the expressions of ingredients of drinks and their interests in well-being were the difference in consumers' preference in brands and purchase intention. It had effects on the fruit content.

Analysis of Consumer Preferences with Regard to Sensory Quality Attributes of Korean Grapes (포도의 품질결정을 위한 소비자 선호요인 분석)

  • This study investigated consumer grape recognition and preference, to improve grape quality. The questionnaire explored consumption frequency, purchasing locations, amounts purchased, general preferences, seedless/seeded preference, and external/internal quality factors. Answers to 519 questionnaires were analyzed both descriptively and quantitatively using SPSS for Windows(Version 14.0). The principal results were as follows: 46.1% of respondents purchased at wholemarket; 38.5% purchased 3-5 bunches at any one time; 76% preferred grapes to other fruits; and 49.8% purchased bigger(and not smaller) grapes. Most customers preferred seedless grapes. The most important external quality factor was bunch fullness and the most significant internal factor was sweetness.

Analysis of Sodium(Na) and Potassium(K) Content of Side Dishes Purchased from Traditional and Super Market in Daejeon Area (대전 지역 일부 재래 시장과 대형 마트에서 시판되는 반찬류의 나트륨 및 칼륨 함량 비교)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the sodium and potassium content of the 19 kinds of side dish purchased from traditional market and super market in Daejeon area. The results are summarized as follows. Sodium content(mg/100 g) among samples was the highest in the Jangachies. The sodium contents of Yeongeun jorim, Bellflower saengchae, Kkaetip jangachies, Chonggak kimchi, Changranjut in super market were significantly higher than those of the traditional market (p<0.05). On the other hand, the sodium contents of the other side dishes in traditional market were significantly higher those in super market. These results suggested that the sodium content of side dishes in the traditional market were higher than those in the super market. Sodium intake from Kimchi and Jangachies per one serving size is estimated significantly highest among samples. Also, potassium content of side dishes were low detected compare to sodium content and potassium content of side dishes in the traditional market were higher than those in the super market. From these results, it was suggested that food labeling (Na content) on the package of side dishes is to be required for lowering Na intake, and standard cooking methods is to be established.

  • Whenever and wherever, recognizing location of object such as human as well as things, ubiquitous Location-Based Service which provides useful service based on this are rising as an important service. In this paper, we implemented customized real time 1:1 e-CRM system that can communicate with user's mobile phone through using Location-Based Service of mobile phone. Among various scenarios that are applicable to designed system, development and test were conducted based on scenario that provides shopping information and discount information to customers through SMS as they approach to vicinity of large discount store and allow them to download discount coupons through Call Back. The suggested system will be applied to various service event and can be used as a customized real time marketing method according to user's personal activity area.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze, applications of the construction management delivery systems according to characteristics of facilities. The adapted research method is to selected four mall in the capital region and then divided them into two groups: CM for Fee or CM at Risk. After analyze each applications and administrations, it could propose proper applications of CM for fee according to CM at Risk. The results of this study are as follows: 1) the CM for Fee was suitable for the projects focused on completing on time and constructing the effective business plan of quality control, and 2) the CM at Risk was suitable for the projects concentrated on the cost reduction through shorten the construction time and the related businesses on quality control.

  • Since Korea is highly dependent on energy imports, it has been making efforts to save energy resources by enacting laws to promote resource saving and recycling. Recently, as a part of recycling of empty bottles, a bottle unattended collecting machine has been installed in the big shopping mall in the metropolitan area. However, there is no commercialization of the unattended collecting machine in Korea and the smart device application for providing information on empty bottle recycling is not yet provided. In this paper, we have designed and constructed a bottle recycling information management system to promote resource recycling. The manager has built a homepage that can manage the information of the empty bottle and the a bottle unattended collecting machine. Also, many people with smart devices can easily access bottle recycling information by using camera and barcode search and label search.

  • Apartment complex, buildings, markets and department stores have inner parking lots which can accept many cars but drivers waste lots of times to find the empty parking spaces in crowding parking lots. In this paper, we proposed the inner parking information support system based on microprocessor which can decrease roaming times to find vacant parking spot in confusing parking lots through notice monitor and provide SMS to make it easy to find parked place. Proposed system consist with RFID system for detecting access of cars, microprocessor system for processing data of checking existence of cars on parking spots and communicating with server, and server system which processes information of cars' in and out, guides empty parking spots and parked location to drivers. Suggested system is realized by handmade model parking lot size of 8 cars, and we confirmed practicality by providing information using parking notice monitor and single message service.

Estimated Daily Intake of Aluminum from Platycodon grandiflorum A. De Candolle (도라지(Platycodon grandiflorum A. De Candolle) 섭취에 따른 알루미늄의 노출량 평가)

  • This study was performed to estimate daily intakes of aluminum from Platycodon grandiflorum A. De Candolle and evaluate their potential health risks for Koreans. Estimated daily intake of aluminum was calculated, whereas the actual level of aluminum in Platycodon grandiflorum A. De Candolle was analyzed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Food consumption amount was drawn from Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES VI-1). In analysed samples, aluminum values ranged from 0.54~564.38 mg/kg in peeled Platycodon grandiflorum A. De Candolle samples (n=53) and from 0.72~28.05 mg/kg in unpeeled ones (n=40). Statistically significant difference (P<0.001) was detected according to the type of skin. To estimate the dietary intake of Platycodon grandiflorum A. De Candolle, a total of 7,242 respondents (scenario I) were compared to 227 Platycodon grandiflorum A. De Candolle consumption subjects (scenario II). Estimated daily intake of aluminum was calculated based on point estimates. Level of safety for aluminum was evaluated by comparison with Provisional Tolerable Weekly Intake (PTWI), 1 mg/kg bw, set by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives. For scenario I, mean estimated daily intake of aluminum was 0.001 mg/kg bw/d. For scenario II, mean estimated daily intake of aluminum was 0.033 mg/kg bw/d, and 95th percentile estimated daily intake was 0.610 mg/kg bw/d. For scenario II, aluminum from Platycodon grandiflorum A. De Candolle had a mean weekly intake that was the 23.1% of PTWI.

Analysis of Consumer Attitudes to Washed Fresh Ginseng (세척 및 시판 수삼 이용실태와 소비자 인식도 분석)

  • We focused on the condition of washed, fresh ginseng in the market and analyzed consumer attitudes to the product to improve the consumption of fresh ginseng. A preference for fresh ginseng was high among every age class, and was particularly notable in older individuals. Fresh ginseng was usually eaten as ginseng chicken soup, mostly in summer and winter, and as a valuable health food, rather than because of desirable qualities of taste or smell. A total of 66.5% of those surveyed reported that they had purchased fresh ginseng, mostly from big discount stores. Such stores were preferred as outlets owing to a reputation for quality and shopper convenience (the stores were located near interviewees' homes). More than 70% of purchasers emphasized that they chose to purchase in department stores and traditional markets owing to the reputation for quality of such sources. Most consumers considered quality to be a prime element in purchase decisions. A total of 32.9% of those surveyed had bought washed fresh ginseng to give as a gift to a friend. Of those surveyed, 67.1% had never bought washed fresh ginseng. The following reasons were proposed to explain the preference for purchase of ginseng with attached soil. Most consumers (40.2%) thought the soil was a reflection of quality. Those who preferred washed fresh ginseng considered that the material was hygienic and convenient to store. When questioned about their intention to buy washed fresh ginseng, 55.0% of consumers replied in the affirmative and 17.1% in the negative. When consumers were asked whether they would be willing to pay an additional charge for the washing and packing of fresh ginseng, 58.8% answered in the affirmative.

Evaluation on Microbiological Contamination Level of Raw Beef from Retail Markets in Seoul, Korea (서울지역 식육판매점의 우육에 대한 미생물학적 오염도 평가)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the microbiological contamination level of raw beef from retail markets in Seoul, Korea. The sampling and laboratory test were performed according to the procedure of "Standard for processing and ingredients specification of livestock product" and "Korean food code". Enterotoxin of Staphylococcus aureus isolates were detected using VIDAS$^{(R)}$ and PCR-based methods. Listeria monocytogenes serotyping and genotyping were carried out using Listeria antisera and L. monocytogenes Fingerprinting kit, respectively. A total of 48 samples were collected from 16 retail markets (butcher's shop: 5, department store: 6, supermarket: 5) in 2011. The level of total bacteria counts in the butcher's shop, department store and supermarket were $4.4{\times}10^3$ CFU/g, $3.9{\times}10^5$ CFU/g and $1.0{\times}10^4$ CFU/g, respectively. The concentrations of Escherichia coli of these three retail markets were $6.4{\times}10$ CFU/g, 7.6 CFU/g and $2.0{\times}10$ CFU/g, respectively. Salmonella species was not detected on all samples. However, S. aureus was isolated in the 3 samples (6.25%) from each type of three retail markets. L. monocytogenes was isolated in the 4 samples (8.3%) from department stores. The level of contamination of these foodborne bacteria was less than 100 CFU/g. The enterotoxin-encoding genes of S. aureus isolates were sea, seh, sei and sep gene. The gene similarity of L. monocytogenes isolated from two retail markets by Rep-PCR showed 57.8-98.1% and 68.1-98.1%, respectively. These results suggest that the HACCP guideline for environmental control in slaughterhouse and retail markets should be provided to prevent cross contamination and manage foodborne pathogens such as L. monocytogenes and S. aureus.
