The students performed post operative care for adult patients in the simulation practicum course of their final semester. Data were collected by evaluating the video-recorded nursing practicum using the clinical reasoning rubric. Clinical reasoning of 61(70.1%) students was limited to the beginning level and that of 6(6.9%) students of the highest scoring was at the third level among the four levels of ability. There was no significant correlation between clinical reasoning and the final cumulative GPA, while there was low level of significant correlation between clinical reasoning and GPA of adult health nursing course or adult health nursing practicum course. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the nursing curriculum to enhance nursing students' clinical reasoning.

  • This study examined the relationship of resilience, academic stress and academic achievement of nursing students. Data were collected through self reported structured questionnaire in 197 nursing students from September 26 to October 12, 2019. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0. As a result this study, resilience was negatively correlated with academic stress(r=-.46, p<.001). while resilience was positively correlated with academic achievement(r=.48, p<.001). As a result regression analysis, social support, structural style, and positivity among the sub-variables of resilience explained 28.4%(F=24.80, p<.001) of the academic stress in nursing students. Relational, and self confidence explained 22.7%(F=27.80, p<.001) of the academic achievement Therefore, it is necessary to develop interventions that can enhance social support structural style, positivity, relational, and self confidence to manage the academic stress and to improve academic achievement of nursing students.

  • The study conducted an employment capability reinforcement program targeting health-related college students, and then carried out positive analysis to find out how satisfaction affects adjustment to college life and academic achievement. An employment capability reinforcement program was conducted which targeted health related majors at a university located in Cheongbuk, and information on satisfaction, adjustment to college life, and academic achievement was collected through a self-administered questionnaire. The analysis results revealed that the higher the satisfaction for the employment capability reinforcement program, the better the adjustment to college life, while increased adjustment to college life affected academic achievement. Although the employment capability reinforcement program had no direct relationship of influence to academic achievement, the study shows that it does lead to increased academic achievement by way of adjustment to college life, which ends up as a positive affect for future employment. Therefore, active efforts are necessary to revitalize employment related programs that suit the characteristics of each department in order to establish an environment for revitalizing employment and increasing adjustment to college life.
