A Study on the Structural Analysis among Organizational Climate, Multicultural Practical Competence and Job Embededness of Multicultural Family Service Center (다문화가족지원센터의 조직풍토, 다문화실천역량 그리고 직무착근도간의 관계에 대한 구조방정식 모형분석 연구)

  • This research examined organizational climate, multicultural practice competence, and job embeddedness of multicultural family service center and studied on the structural relationship among these variables. The study samples are 175 multicultural practitioners at 7 multicultural family service centers located at Seoul and Gyunggi-Do. The study data was analyzed with descriptive analysis, conformatiory factor analysis and structural analysis by SPSS Statistics 20.0 and Amos 21.0. The study results are as follows. First, organizational climate, multicultural practice competence, and job embededness of multicultural family service centers appeared to be posive by the mean value of 3.5 out of 5. Specifically, work reward and incentives(M=3.33) are relatively low, multicultural practice skills(3.27) are lowest among multicultural practice competence sub-factors and fitness is the highest(Mean=3.79) among job embededness sub-factors. Second, multicultural practice competence have a positive effect on job embededness(Ɓ=0.426, C.R.=5.293, p<.001), and has a mediating effect between organizational climate and job embededness. Third, organizational climate has a positive effect on multicultural practice competence(Ɓ=.206, C.R.=2.499, p<.05) and has a positive effect on job embedednes(Ɓ=0.488, C.R.=6.131, p<.001). Based on the study results, it was suggested to improve job embededness of multicultural practitioners by changing organizational climate and improving multicultural practice competence.

  • The 21st century society is becoming globalized rapidly due to mass immigration and South Korea has become a multicultural nation since 2007 with over one million foreigners living here. Due to these social environmental changes, there was a need to provide multicultural programs and services in public libraries. In order to develop multicultural library services, we need to look into what librarians and users of public libraries know of the existing services. We assumed that comparing the two groups, librarians and users, and establishing a fit model would be the most effective way to provide information. According to the survey, there were differences in understanding between the two groups. By providing services that help fill in the gap, public libraries could be closer to multicultural families, and help them become integrated into Korean society. We have presented a multicultural service model based on the results of the survey.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of multicultural competence on the organizational effectiveness of daycare teachers and to provide basic data to improve organizational effectiveness of daycare facilities. To achieve this goal, 258 childcare teachers attending C university were sampled for convenience and statistical processing was performed using PASW. First, there was a positive correlation between organizational productivity, organizational adaptability, and job satisfaction in the relationship between multicultural knowledge and organizational productivity, organizational adaptability, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. second. The relationship between multicultural awareness and organizational productivity, organizational adaptability, and organizational commitment were all statistically correlated. Third, multicultural knowledge and multicultural awareness have positive effects on organizational commitment, organizational adaptability, and organizational productivity. Fourth, multicultural knowledge has a positive effect on job satisfaction. Therefore, in order to improve organizational effectiveness of day care facilities in the era of convergence, education programs related to multicultural knowledge and multicultural awareness are needed for daycare teachers.

The Effect of Parenting Attitude on the Multicultural expropriation of University student According to Community Spirit (부모의 양육태도가 공동체의식에 따라 대학생의 다문화 수용에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of parents' positive and negative parenting attitudes on multicultural expropriation and the mediating effect of community spirit in the process. For this purpose, 1,336 first - year students who entered the university were sampled based on the 7th year data of Korea Youth Policy Institute for a regression analysis. The main results are as follows. First, the positive parenting attitude of the parents recognized by university students has a positive influence on multicultural expropriation, and the negative parenting attitude has a negative influence on multicultural expropriation. Second, Community spirit is found to have a positive influence on multicultural expropriation by university students and shown to have a partial mediated effect between positive or negative parenting and multicultural expropriation. Based on the above research results, various programs were developed and applied to enhance parents' positive parenting attitude and multicultural expropriation, and to promote positive parenting attitude and community spirit.

  • This study investigates, 1) the predicting career attitudes of multicultural youth, 2) the aim was to provide evidence-based data on career and policy development. A survey for a total of 1,335 multicultural youth and data were analyzed by data-mining decision tree with SPSS 23.0. The main findings are as follows. First, female students showed satisfaction in life, self-esteem and support for mothers' career. Second, In boys, self-esteem was the most important. Based on these results, it contains suggestions for career development for multicultural youth.

Systematic Review of Educational Programs for Multicultural Families in South Korea (다문화가정 구성원 대상 교육프로그램 중재에 대한 체계적 고찰)

  • This study was a systematic review that aimed to assess the effectiveness of educational programs for members of multicultural families. Therefore, 21 studies from domestic databases - RISS, KISS, NDSL, DBia, and nanet - were analyzed and the data were compiled and encoded by three researchers. Regarding the characteristics of the educational programs for multicultural families, 12 programs were developed for children, eight, for parents, and one, for both parents and children. While most intervention programs included topics on health, responsive care, and early education, none included topics on nutrition and safe space or targeted all members of multicultural families. This study identified the need for developing educational programs for all members of multicultural families and for developing and evaluating programs that can address, on a theoretical basis, the problems encountered by multicultural families.

Effect of Multicultural Adolescents' Physical Satisfaction on Academic Adjustment : Mediating Effect of Self-esteem and Peer Relationship (다문화 청소년의 신체만족도가 학업적응에 미치는 영향 : 자아존중감과 친구관계의 매개효과)

  • This study analyzed the mediating effects of self-esteem and peer relationship in the effects between physical satisfaction and academic adaptation of multicultural youth. The subjects of the study were 1,064 first-year high school students at the time of the survey using the 8th Multicultural Youth Panel (MAPS) data. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, correlations, and path analysis of measurement variables were carried out using SPSS 25.0. According to the analysis, first, multicultural youth's body satisfaction has a positive effect on academic adaptation, and second, self-esteem is completely mediated in the relationship between body satisfaction and academic adaptation. Third, the relationship between multicultural youth's body satisfaction and academic adaptation has been partially mediated. The results will be used to develop basic data and programs to support healthy growth of multicultural youth. These results can be used to develop basic data and programs to devise support measures for healthy growth of multicultural youth.

  • This study is to find out solutions to the problems of multicultural families which are becoming social problems. The results of this study are as follows : First, it is necessary to change government and public perception about multicultural families and society. Second, it is necessary to consider expanding and operating a counseling center for the support of multicultural families' human rights violations, labor issues, and life problems. Third, the efforts of related organizations and organizations including the government to diversify contents, subjects and programs of multicultural education are needed. Fourth, there is a need for a separate district development such as multicultural special zones.

Effects of a Multicultural Course on the Multicultural Acceptability and Competency of Nursing Students (다문화 교과 프로그램이 간호대학생의 다문화 수용성 및 역량에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the effects of a multicultural course on nursing students' multicultural acceptability and competency. Method: The research design for this study was a non-equivalent control group, non-synchronized pre- and post-test. The experimental group (n=28) took 13 weeks of the multicultural course, while the control group (n=28) received only regular classes over the same period. Pre- and post-tests were done to identify the effects of the program. The data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using the PASW 18.0 program. Results: All indices of multicultural acceptability and competency in the experimental group were significantly higher than that of control group after the program, except for two: universality (a measure of multicultural acceptability) and multicultural awareness (a measure of multicultural competency). Conclusion: These results suggest that the multicultural course was effective in elevating the level of multicultural acceptability and competency among nursing students.

Analysis of Implementing a Multicultural Experiential Learning Program in Philippines based on APEC Edutainment Exchange (APEC 에듀테인먼트 교류 기반의 필리핀 다문화 체험학습 프로그램 적용 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to enhance the quality of APEC Edutainment Exchange Program (AEEP) that was developed for Korean multicultural students and implemented in Philippines. Based on literature review and data analysis, we designed and developed edutainment-based contents for their team projects. The participants of the AEEP which was carried out between Aug 12th and 19th in 2012 were 34 elementary and secondary school students with program coordinators. Data collection included survey, video, interview, report and episodes. The data analysis of AEEP activities revealed the features of global experiential learning and edutainment in the K-pop and cooking projects where the Korean-Philippino students exchanged their cultural activities with joyful cooperation. The data also confirmed the Korean students' positive changes toward multi-cultural understandings and attitudes.
