A Research on Aerial Refueling Type and Flight Testing of Boom-Receptacle Systems for a Fixed-wing Aircraft (고정익 항공기 공중급유 유형 및 Boom-Receptacle 시스템 비행시험 평가 방안 연구)

  • An aerial refueling provides for extension of operational time and range for aircraft and enhances mission effectiveness, hence it application by most military aircrafts. The receiver aircraft should have the aerial refueling clearance that is established by performing technical and operational compatibility assessments to certify it for aerial refueling with a specific tanker model. The compatibility assessment includes aerial refueling handling qualities, functional, fuel, lighting system testing and it is finally verified through flight testing. However, since aerial refueling compatibility assessments have never been performed in Korea, there is no experience to determine the test requirements and the scope and size of the test program for a new development aircraft. This paper therefore introduces the common techniques of aerial refueling and aerial refueling flight test methods to understand the aerial refueling FCS (Flight Control System), OFP (operational flight program) and system validation, and aerial refueling envelope clearance of a fixed wing aircraft for a boom and receptacle refueling system that is being introduced into Korea Air Force.

원주방향급유홈 프로팅링저어널베어링의 해석

  • 프로팅링저어널베어링은 저어널과 슬리브 사이에 자유롭게 움직일 수 있는 링을 삽입하여 이중의 유막이 형성되도록 한 것이다. 프로팅링저어널베어링은 이중의 유막을 가짐으로 인해 유량이 많이 필요하여 열적 특성이 좋고 마찰손실이 작으며 외축유막의 진동감쇠작용을 기대할 수 있으나, 링에 의해 내외축유막이 분리되어 있으므로 내축유막에 윤활제를 공급하는 것이 쉽지 않은 문제점이 있다. 동베어링에 대한 윤활제의 공급방법으로는 축을 통한 공급을 고려하지 않을 경우 다음과 같은 두가지를 생각할 수 있다. 첫째, 링에 내외축유막을 연결하는 급유구를 뚫어 외축유막으로 공급된 윤활제의 일부가 급유구를 통해 내축유막으로도 공급되도록 하는 방법 둘째, 축방향의 일단에서 내외축유막에 직접 가압급유하는 방법 이 가운데 둘째 방법은 축방향의 일단이 윤활제에 완전히 잠겨 있도록 밀봉하여야 하는 번거로움이 있으므로 잘 사용되지 않고 첫째 방법을 사용하는 것이 일반적이다. 첫째 방법에서도 링내외면에 원주방향급유홈을 파면 내외축유막으로의 윤활제공급이 보다 더 원활히 이루어 질 수 있을 것으로 기대되는데, 본논문에서는 이와 같이 원주방향급유홈이 있는 베어링을 원주방향급유홈 프로팅링저어널베어링이라 부르기도 하고, 이에 대하여 해석하고자 한다.

Aircraft fueling optimization model under a fueling cost differentiation (급유비용 차별하의 항공기 급유 최적화 모형)

  • Aircraft fuel cost is the largest airline expenses in airlines who play a major role in air transportation system. Airlines have been making a great effort to save fuel as much as they can. Among these efforts, the systematic fueling strategy has been taken a growing attention since it is recognized as a very cost-effective fuel management strategy. The systematic fueling strategy is the fuel saving strategy in which extra amount of fuel is loaded to utilize the fueling cost differentiation among the cities where the aircraft operate. In this paper, the aircraft fueling optimization model is proposed. The proposed model is to calculate precise amount of loaded fuel to minimize overall fuel cost assuming that the aircraft routing for all aircrafts and fueling cost in all airports where the aircraft fly are given. Compared with heuristic fueling strategy, the result of the proposed model is promising. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed model plays a major role in fuel management strategy in airline operation.

Relative Navigation for Autonomous Aerial Refueling Using Infra-red based Vision Systems (자동 공중급유를 위한 적외선 영상기반 상대 항법)

  • In this paper, a vision-based relative navigation system is addressed for autonomous aerial refueling. In the air-to-air refueling, it is assumed that the tanker has the drogue, and the receiver has the probe. To obtain the relative information from the drogue, a vision-based imaging technology by infra-red camera is applied. In this process, the relative information is obtained by using Gaussian Least Squares Differential Correction (GLSDC), and Levenberg-Marquadt(LM), where the drouge geometric information calculated through image processing is used. These two approaches proposed in this paper are analyzed through numerical simulations.

A Study on the Optimal Number of Air Tanker for Patrol Operations (초계작전을 위한 공중급유기 적정 대수 산정 연구)

  • Air refueling is expected to increase the efficiency of the air force operations. This follows from the introduction of air refueling aircraft, which should to increase operational time by increasing the range and duration of fighter jets. Despite the effectiveness of the air refueling air crafts, the astronomical costs of adapting the air tankers call for careful discussions on whether to acquire any air craft and if so, how many. However there is no academic study on the subject to our knowledge. Thus, we use the ABM(Agent Based Modeling) technique to calculate the optimal number of air tankers during patrol operation. We have enhanced the reliability of the simulation by entering the specifications of the current aircraft operated by the Korean Air Force. As an optimization tool for determining the optimal number of counts, we use OptQuest built into the simulation tools and show that the optimal number of air tanker is 4.

  • Ship's Bunkering Business is one of the essential businesses creating added values of the port as a hub for a stream of the international logistics. Regulatory considerations of ship's bunkering business should be made to create a more relevant system and stabilize the bunkering industry so that the ports may produce more substantial added values. This paper suggests revisions the Harbor Transport Business Act, the Marine Transport Act, putting forward an idea of unifying safety management systems, establishing a guideline for bunker quality managements, and changing the laws regarding any wrongdoings of bunker suppliers. In conclusion, in order to increase the managerial integrity of the bunkering operators, reasonable burdens should be distributed across the government, refinery companies and ship-owners to achieve a more balanced state and enable long-term development to advance the business at issue, following a step-by-step approach to amend the contract practice, the laws and the systems.

부산항 신항 선박급유 및 유류중계기지 건설사업 해상교통안전성 확보를 위한 관계기관 역할에 관한 고찰

  • '해사안전법'상 해상교통안전진단 대상사업인 "부산항 신항 선박급유 및 유류중계기지 건설사업"은 신항만건설기본계획에 반영('09.4)되어 추진 중, 항만이용자 및 전문가들이 선박의 통항안전성 등에 대한 문제를 지속적으로 제기함에 따라 해역이용자들과 수차례 검토회의 및 토론회 등을 개최하여 동 시설에 대한 해상교통안전성 확보방안에 어떤 문제점과 개선방안이 있는지를 검토해왔다. 본 연구에서는 동 사업에 대한 해상교통안전진단 사전검토 사례를 통해 사전 의견수렴의 중요성을 파악하고, 논의과정에서 도출된 문제점(또는 미비점)과 개선방안 및 관계기관간 역할을 고찰하여 제도개선 사항을 도출하고자 한다.

Derivation and Verification of the Relative Dynamics Equations for Aerial Refueling (공중재급유를 위한 상대운동방정식 유도 및 검증)

  • This paper addresses the derivation of 6-DOF equation of Tanker and Receiver's aircraft for aerial refueling. The new set of nonlinear equations are derived in terms of the relative translational and rotational motion of receiver aircraft respect to the tanker aircraft body frame. Further the wind effect terms due to the tanker's turbulence are included. The derivation of absolute dynamic equation for tanker aircraft written in the inertial frame is calculated from the relative dynamics equations of receiver. The derived relative and absolute equations are implemented the simulation in the same flight conditions to verify the relative motion and compare the trim results by using the MATLAB/SIMULINK program.

The Stability of the Flexible Rotor Mounted on Circumferentially Grooved Floating Ring Journal Bearings (원주방향 급유홈 프로팅링 저널베어링으로 지지된 탄성 회전체의 안정성)

  • The stability of the flexible rotor mounted on circumferentially grooved floating ring journal bearings was investigated theoretically and experimentally. The floating ring journal bearing was analyzed by using JFO reformation boundary condition. The flexible shaft was analyzed by the finite element method based on Rayleigh beam theory. It was found that the measured ring speed agrees well with the theoretical results. The instability of the system due to not only the outer film but also the inner film of the bearing could be predicted by the theory which allows negative vapor pressure. The tendency that reducing the supply pressure of lubricant stabilizes the system was observed both experimentally and theoretically.

  • 일반적으로 정수압 베어링은 저진동, 저마찰 및 높은 댐핑 특성을 가지며 하중 지지 용량도 커서 공작 기계, 측정 기구등에 광범위하게 하용된다. 특히 여러 산업이 발달함에 따라 점차 정밀 부품의 필요성이 증가되고 있고 공작 기계의 용량도 점차 대형화되는 추세에 있다. 이에 따라 공작 기계의 미끄럼 운동을 지지하는 베어링은 높은 강성 및 높은 하중 지지용량을 갖게할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는 능동적 급유 방식의 리스트릭터의 한 종류인 다이아프램 제어 밸브 (diaphram control valve)와 수동적 급유 방식의 리스트릭터의 한종류인 오리프스의 특성을 이론적으로 해석하고 실험을 통하여 이론 해석의 타당성을 검증하고 결과를 도시하고자 한다.
