Purpose: Ni-Cr alloy does not contain Beryllium, causing the metal compound to form oxides in the furnace but by using Titanium as a chemical catalyst the forming of the oxides can be controlled, and by controlling the impurities formed on the metal surface, the possibility of the Ni-Cr alloy bond strength being increased can be analysed. Materials and Methods: Titanium was used as a chemical catalyst in the porcelain for the oxidation of beryllium-free metal (Ni-Cr) alloy. The T1 group, which does not use Titanium power as a chemical catalyst is a reference model for comparison. The T2 group and T3 group used 10 g and 20 g of Titanium power, respectively. They are fabricated to observe the shear bond strength and surface properties. There was no significance when One-way ANOVA analysis/Tukey Honestly Significant Difference Test was conducted for statistical analysis among groups (P > 0.05). Results: Results of measuring the three-point flexural bond strength of the Ni-Cr alloy and thickness of the oxide film. Experiment T3 using 20 g Titanium chemical catalyst: $39.22{\pm}3.41MPa$ and $6.66{\mu}m$, having the highest bond strength and thinness of oxide film. Experiment T2 using 10 g Titanium chemical catalyst: $34.65{\pm}1.39MPa$ and $13.22{\mu}m$. Experiment T1 using no Titanium chemical catalyst: $32.37{\pm}1.91MPa$ and $22.22{\mu}m$. Conclusion: The T2 and T3 experiments using Titanium chemical catalyst showed higher bond strength for the Ni-Cr alloy and lower thickness of oxide film than experiment T1, and the titanium catalyst being able to increase bond strength was observed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the wear characteristics of human enamel opposing 2 heat-pressed ceramics (e.max Press and Empress Esthetic), conventional feldspathic porcelain (Ceramco 3) and type III gold alloy. Material and methods: Intact cusps of extracted premolars were used for enamel specimens. Five disk samples were made for each of two heat-pressed ceramics groups, conventional feldspathic porcelain group and type III gold alloy group. Wear tests were conducted in distilled water using a pin-on-disk tribometer. The amount of enamel wear was determined by weighing the enamel specimens before and after wear tests, and the weight was converted to volumes by average density. The wear tracks were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and surface profilometer to elucidate the wear characteristics. Results: 1. Ceramco 3 led to the greatest amount of enamel wear followed by Empress Esthetic, e.max Press and type III gold alloy. However, there was no significant difference between Ceramco 3 and Empress Esthetic (P>.05), and there were also no significant differences among Empress Esthetic, e.max Press and type III gold alloy (P>.05). 2. The average surface roughness of e.max Press after wear test was smallest followed by Empress Esthetic and Ceramco 3, but there was no significant difference between Empress Esthetic and Ceramco 3 (P>.05). 3. There were no significant differences among the depth of wear tracks of all the groups (P>.05). The group that showed the largest width of wear track was Ceramco 3 followed by Empress Esthetic, e.max Press and type III gold alloy. However, there was no significant difference between e.max Press and Empress Esthetic (P>.05), and there was also no significant difference between Empress Esthetic and Ceramco 3 (P>.05). Conclusion: Within the limits of this study, heat-pressed ceramics were not more abrasive than conventional feldspathic porcelain.
Two-phase Al-21Ti-23Cr alloy containing 20 vol.% $\textrm{Cr}_{2}\textrm{Al}$ as a second phase in the $Ll_2$ matrix is located in the two- phase region of the Al- Ti- Cr phase diagram at $1150^{\circ}C$, while in the three-phase region at $1000^{\circ}C$. Based on this result, the mechanical properties of the A1-21Ti-23Cr alloy were enhanced through the refined precipitation of the third phase in the $Ll_2$ matrix by aging the alloy below $1000^{\circ}C$. It was observed that a several ,m of the third phase precipitated in the $Ll_2$ matrix through aging at $800^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$, but the precipitation was not observed below $600^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, the third phase was more finely precipitated at $800^{\circ}C$ than at $1000^{\circ}C$. Although the third phase precipitated at $800^{\circ}C$ and at $1000^{\circ}C$, the compressive yield strength increased rapidly at $800^{\circ}C$ only. This is probably attributable to the refined precipitation of the third phase in the $Ll_2$ matrix. It is expected that the precipitation of the third phase. which was confirmed to be the TiAlCr phase, improves the mechanical properties by preventing crack propagation in the $Ll_2$ matrix.
We have studied on the preparation of $TiCo_xFe_{1-x}$(x=0.50~1.00) system alloy, the characteristics of $TiCo_xFe_{1-x}$(x=0.50~1.00) system alloy by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), pressure composition temperature (PCT) curve, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the $H_2-N_2$ gas mixture separation of $TiCo_xFe_{1-x}$(x=0.50~1.00)- stainless steel (SS) composite membranes. The formation of $TiCo_xFe_{1-x}$(x=0.50~1.00) system alloys with cubic crystal same as TiCo was confirmed by X-ray diffractometer. $TiCo_xFe_{1-x}$(x=0.50~1.00) system alloys showed the hysteresis at $120^{\circ}C$. As the Fe content of $TiCo_xFe_{1-x}$(x=0.50~1.00) system alloys increased, the hysteresis was increased both range x=0.90~1.00 and x=0.55~0.60, and the range x=0.55~0.90 gave decreased hysteresis. $TiCo_{0.55}Fe_{0.45}$ alloy was the one showed the lowest hysteresis among them. The lowest value of hydrogen permeation pressure of $TiCo_xFe_{1-x}$(x=0.50~1.00)-SS composite membrane was $TiCo_{0.55}Fe_{0.45}$-SS composite membrane with the value of 2.5 atm at $120^{\circ}C$; otherwise, $TiCo_{0.90}Fe_{0.10}$-SS composite had the highest pressure value among the membranes with the value of 10 atm. $TiCo_{0.55}Fe_{0.45}$-SS composite membrane was the best to separate the $H_2-N_2$ gas mixture excellently among the $TiCo_xFe_{1-x}$(x=0.50~1.00)-SS composite membranes since $TiCo_{0.55}Fe_{0.45}$ had the least hysteresis, and hydrogen permeation pressure was the lowest with value of 2.5 atm.

In the past few years, Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu (weight%) solder composition has been a representative material to electronic industries as a replacement of Pb-base solder alloy. Therefore, extensive studies on process and/or reliability related with the composition have been reported. However, recent rapid rise in Ag price has demanded solder compositions of low Ag content. In this study, Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder bar sample was fabricated by melting of Sn, Ag and Cu metal powders. Crystal structure and element concentration were analyzed by XRD, optical microscope, FE-SEM and EDS. The Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder sample was composed of ${\beta}$-Sn, ${\varepsilon}-Ag_3Sn$ and ${\eta}-Cu_6Sn_5$ phases.
This study was carried out to obtain a basic data on the production of the Nd-Fe-B system rare earth anisotropic bonded magnet by R-D & HDDR process. The reduction reaction of Nd$_2$O$_3$by metallic Ca and the diffusion reaction of Nd into Fe-B alloy powder were investigated for the production the Nd-Fe-B alloy powder. We concluded that a proper quantity of metallic Ca was about 1.3 times of theoretical equivalent from the yields of Nd and B after the R-D reaction at 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 1h. In the XRD analysis the diffusion reaction of Nd into the center of Fe-B alloy powder for the completed homogenization was required through about 45min at 110$0^{\circ}C$ for the R-D reaction, and also the maximum efficiency on the yield of Nd was obtained with such a condition. Residual Ca and oxygen contents of the final powder sample after washing were detected in 0.17wt% and 0.42wt% by ICP and oxygen analyzer, respectively.

A fundamental study was carried out to develop a process for recycling tungsten and cobalt from WC-Co hardmetal sludge generated in the manufacturing process of hardmetal tools. The complete extraction of cobalt and simultaneous formation of tungstic was achieved by treating the sludge using aqua regia. The effect of aqua regia concentration, reaction temperature and time, pulp density on cobalt leaching and tungstic acid formation was investigated. The complete leaching of cobalt was attained at the optimum conditions: 100 vol.% aqua regia concentration, $100^{\circ}C$ temperature, 60 min. reaction time and 400 g/L pulp density. A complete conversion of tungsten carbide of the sludge to tungstic acid was however, obtained at the pulp densities lower than 150 g/L under the above condition. The progress of reaction during the aqua regia treatment of the sludge was monitored through the XRD phase identification of the residue. The metallic impurities in the tungstic acid so produced could be further removed as insoluble residues by dissolving the tungsten values in ammonia solution. The ammonium paratungstate($(NH_4)_{10}{\cdot}H_2W_{12}O_{42}{\cdot}4H_2O$) of 99.85% purity was prepared from the ammonium polytungstate solution by the evaporation crystallization method.

After several PWSCCs were found in Bugey(France), Ringhals(Sweden), Tihange(Belgium), Oconee, Arkansas, Crystal Fever, Davis-Basse, VC Summer(U.S.A.), Thuruga(Japan), USNRC and PNNL started the research on PWSCC, that is, PINC project. The aim of this project is to fabricate and obtain representative NDE mock-ups with flaws to simulate tight PWSCC cracks, to identify and quantitatively assess NDE methods for accurately detecting, sizing and characterizing tight cracks such as PWSCC, to document the range of locations and crack morphologies associated with PWSCC and observed responses and to incorporate findings from other ongoing PWSCC research programs, as appropriate. By participating in PINC project, Korean morphology technique about PWSCC and NDE technique have improved and become similar lever with other advanced country. Therefore, the evaluation technique of integrity for nickel alloy component has been improved by cooperation with university, research institute and industries.
Research was conducted to characterize the copper production and smelting process with 11 copper smelting by-products (copper slag and copper crucible) excavated from the NA and LA areas at the Gwanbuk-ri archeological site in Buyeo. Scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy, wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, and Raman microspectroscopy were employed in the analysis. The research results reveal that the copper slag from Gwanbuk-ri contained silicate oxide, magnetite, fayalite, and delafossite, which are typical characteristics of crucible slag and refined slag. The outward appearance and microstructure of the slag were grouped as follows: 1. glassy matrix + Cu prill, 2. glassy matrix + Cu prill + magnetite, 3. silicate mineral matrix + Cu prill, 4. crystalline (delafossite and magnetite) + amorphous (Cu prill), 5. magnetite + fayalite, and 6. slag from slag. The copper slags from Guanbuk-ri were found to contain residues of impurities such as SiO2, Al2O3, CaO, SO4, P2O5, Ag2O, and Sb2O3 in their microstructure, and, in some cases, it was confirmed that copper, tin and lead are alloys. These results indicate that refining of intermediate copper(including impurities) and refining of alloys of copper(including impurities) - tin and refining of copper(including impurities) - tin - lead took place during the copper production process at Gwanbuk-ri, Buyeo.
The mechanical alloying (MA) effect in $\sigma$-VFe intermetallic compound was studied by neutron and X-ray diffraction. The structure of MA $\sigma$-VFe powders were characterized by the X- ray diffraction with Cu- $K\alpha$ radiation and neutron diffraction with monochromatic neutrons of $1.835\AA$ using a high resolution powder diffractometer (HRPD). Mechanical alloying of $\sigma$-VFe compound gives rise to a dramatic structural change. After 60 hours of MA, the Fe-Fe distribution of the $\sigma$- phase VFe tetragonal structure with 30 atoms in a unit cell is found to change into that of the $\sigma$-(V,Fe) solid solution with bcc structure, which is a stable phase at elevated temperature above $1200^{\circ}C$. A comparison of X-ray diffraction data for the $\alpha$-phase has been also made with the corresponding neutron diffraction data. The (101) and (111) diffraction peaks of the $\sigma$-phase was clearly observed only in neutron diffraction pattern, which is believed to be a characteristic feature due to the chemical atomic ordering of $\sigma$- VFe phase.
