The Web Note on the Web Browser Using VML (VML을 이용한 웹 기반 브라우저상의 웹 노트 구현)

  • 학교 교육 현장에 웹 기반의 교육의 형태가 늘어나는 추세지만 학생이 홈페이지 형태의 교재를 보면서 웹브라우저 상에 필기하고 저장하여 다시 그 내용을 볼 수 있는 환경은 아직 제공되고 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 벡터 그래픽 기반의 VML과 DHTML를 이용하여 웹브라우저 상에서 수업 교재로서 제공된 문서에 줄을 긋거나 필기한 수 있는 환경을 제공한다. 필기된 내용은 동적으로 만들어진 VML 정식의 텍스트 기반으로 데이터 베이스에 저장된다. 교재로서의 웹문서는 웹서버에서 VML의 내용은 데이터 베이스에서 추출해서 웹문서와 VML의 내용이 웹 브라우저에서 함께 출력됨으로써 필기 내용을 다시 볼 수 있는 웹노트 시스템을 제안함으로써 전자 문서 표준화에 발맞춰 엄청난 교과서 제작 비용의 감소 효과와 교사의 교재와 칠판 필기 및 학생의 교과서와 노트가 오직 PC나 노트북만으로 해결 가능한 교육 현장 전반의 획기적인 전환이 예상된다.

An Analysis of a Teacher's Formalization Procedure Based on Students' Various Solution Methods in Teaching the Area of Plane Figures (평면도형의 넓이 수업에서 학생들의 다양한 해결 방법에 근거한 교사의 형식화 도출 과정 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze students' various solution methods revealed in the lessons of finding out the area of plane figures, and to explore instructional implications on how to draw meaningful formalization out of such multiple methods. The teacher in this study tended to select a few solution methods that were easy for students to understand and to induce formalization. An analysis of students' solution methods and the process of formalization showed that students need to understand what parts of the length of the given plane figure they should know, and to identify the base, height, and diagonal line of the figure. The analysis also showed that it was effective to choose the solution methods that were used by many students and that could be easily transformed into a concise formula. Based on these results, this paper provides instructional suggestions for a teacher to orchestrate classroom discussion toward formalization based on students' multiple solution methods.

Effects of Teaching Communication with Small Group Cooperative learning on Mathematics Learning Abilities (소집단 협동 학습을 통한 의사 소통 지도가 수학 학습 능력에 미치는 효과)

  • This study aims at checking up influences imposed on mathematics learning abilities in communication teaching through small group leaning for the sixth grade pupils of elementary schools. Results obtained through the study are as follow: The communication teaching through small group cooperative learning showed an affirmative reaction in terms of mathematics learning achievement degree and mathematical tendency. However, the pupils of the lower group showed a meager effect in terms of mathematics learning achievement degree. It means that such an effect is required to a sustained teaching for a long time by teachers.

Revisiting the Definitions and the Textbook Descriptions of Dissolution, Diffusion and Effusion (용해, 확산, 분출의 정의와 교과서 서술에 대한 재고찰)

  • Previous studies showed that many secondary school students and teachers have difficulties in distinguishing the phenomena of dissolution and diffusion, as well as the phenomena of diffusion and effusion. In this study, currently accepted term definitions of dissolution, diffusion and effusion were searched from the IUPAC Gold Book and the physical chemistry textbooks, and the points to differentiate the definitions were sought. Also, the term definitions of these three phenomena in the secondary school text books and the college general chemistry textbooks were surveyed and compared to the currently accepted definitions. It was found that dissolution is formation of one new phase from mixing two phases, while diffusion is the migration of matter down from the concentration gradient. The "concentration gradient" is considered to be a key point to distinguish diffusion from the dissolution. However, the concentration gradient was not mentioned in the definitions of diffusion in most of the secondary school textbooks and the college general chemistry textbooks. Effusion is differentiated from diffusion by the gas molecules escaping from the container through a tiny hole without collision. The definition of effusion was not found in most of the secondary school textbooks.

A Meta-regression Analysis of the Variables Associated with the Job Satisfaction of Kindergarten Teachers (유치원교사의 직무만족과 관련된 변인에 대한 메타회귀분석)

  • This study seeks to verify the effect size of the variables relating to job satisfaction through a meta-analysis focusing on previous papers over the last 20 years that have examined the job satisfaction of kindergarten teachers and verified the trend by publication year through a meta-regression analysis. The study results are as follows. First, the results demonstrated that the total effect size of the variables relating to kindergarten teachers was large. Second, the organization's internal variable and organization's external variable groups, except for the individual characteristics variable group, showed a large effect size at similar levels. Third, the status of teachers in the individual characteristics variable group showed a meaningfully large effect size and the interpersonal relationship variable in organization's internal variable group showed a relatively larger effect size than the organizational climate variable did. Finally, the results of the verification of the trend by publication year showed that job satisfaction increased for all variables, except for the individual characteristics variable in more recent publications. This study highlights the imperative of making every effort to improve the organization's internal and external environment. In particular, measures to reduce job stress and work load are required. Furthermore, the atmosphere that is devoted to the teaching profession and teacher efficacy is important.

A Research on the Conception Change Process of Secondary School Chemistry Major Teachers Related to the Evaporation Phenomena in the Air (대기 중의 증발 현상에 대한 중등학교 화학전공 교사들의 개념 변화 과정에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, preconceptions held by chemistry major secondary school science teachers were searched in relation to explanations of water evaporation phenomena with phase equilibrium diagrams. 25 chemistry major science teachers were selected to complete questionnaires developed in this study and 6 among of them were selected to participate in follow-up interviews. Among these, 10 participants were selected for an evaluation of the change of their preconceptions through lessons developed in this study. From the results, it was found that many teachers believed that the phase equilibrium diagram could not explain water evaporation phenomena. They also thought that there was no relation between vapor pressure and the vertical axis of the phase equilibrium diagram. However, after the lessons in earth science, they recognized that the vapor pressure curve of the phase equilibrium diagram could be explained by adopting a saturated vapor curve. Because they had known the process of application the conceptions of saturated situation, nonsaturated situation, process of equilibrium movement in saturated vapor curve. They could understand natural phenomena such as evaporation with the phase equilibrium diagram through a change in their conceptions as guided from science lessons integrating earth science and chemistry.

Development of the Competency Model of Specialized Vocational High School Teachers as Admission Officers (특성화고 미래인재전형 담당교사들의 역량모델 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the competency model of specialized vocational school teachers as admission officers. Whereas professional admission officers deal with a variety of admission activities in universities, teachers are responsible for admission duties in specialized high schools in Korea. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the core competencies required for teachers responsible for admission duties in specialized high school settings. In order to develop a competency model, factor analysis was completed for the survey results of 191 teachers who teach in specialized vocational high schools in Seoul, Korea. For evaluating validity of the competency model, the responses from those who had high experiences in admission duties and the average teachers were compared. As a result, this study identified a total of 14 competencies in three competency areas. The competencies required for specialized high school teachers include responsibilities for admission officers, ethics for evaluators, communication skills, teamwork, understandings of admissions process for specialized vocational high school, developing evaluation criteria, generating interview questions, increasing interrater reliability, interview skills, simultaneous evaluation of interviewees, quantification of evaluation results, synthesis of evaluation results, and decision making skills.

Analysis of Mathematical Communication in Building-Block Lessons for 2nd Graders (2학년 쌓기나무 수업에서의 수학적 의사소통 분석)

  • This study focused on classroom dialogue for communicating spatial information which is supposed to be implemented through learning activities using building-blocks. Even though mathematics textbooks for $2^{nd}$ graders have activities which require abilities of explaining and understanding some spatial information, we know few about how mathematical communication between teacher and students or among students and which strategies are more effective. For this reason, two building-block lessons for $2^{nd}$ graders were observed. The characteristics of teachers' instruction and students' explanation were identified and the mathematical communication between teachers and students or among students was analyzed. As a result, mains factors of impeding students' explanation and understanding were induced and the types of their communication were classified. Based on these results, several teaching strategies for effective communication in buildingblock lessons were suggested.

A Study on the Effectiveness of the Cyber Home Learning System (사이버가정학습 효과성에 대한 연구)

  • Recently the cyber home learning system is executed throughout the country as a part of educational policies to reduce expenditure on private education and to promote educational welfare for alienated classes. Thus, in order to examine the effectiveness of the cyber home learning system, we conducted an online questionnaire survey with elementary and secondary students, cyber teachers under the OO Office of Education. According to the results, overall satisfaction with the cyber home learning system and its effectiveness were found high. In addition, what were required for more effective the cyber home learning system were expanding the execution of unit school learning, strengthening teacher training, increasing incentives for cyber teachers, intensifying campaigns for the cyber home learning system, providing various types of information and contents of education, and activating learning activities such as community, message and chatting. This study is expected to be a steppingstone to the settlement of more effective the cyber home learning system.

Analysis of Summative Evaluation Objectives in Middle school Science Examination by Klopfer's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives (중학교 과학과 총괄 지필평가 문항의 목표 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze of the science examination of middle school 7th grade by Klopfer's taxonomy of educational objectives. A total of 645 test items from 10 middle schools were analyzed for this study. The examination items were analyzed according to the objectives of science education, such as behavior and contents area, question types, and the degree of difficulty. It was shown that, when the distribution of behavioral objectives was considered, the items emphasized knowledge and comprehension, and were scientific knowledge oriented. The tests consisted of multiple choice questions at a relatively high rate, compared to short answer questions. Comparing the rate of teachers' expectations to the degree of difficulty, the ratio of "top" was low and that of "medium" was high. The results of this study suggested that using various types of question and multiple levels of content and behavior enabled more effective evaluation of the diverse thinking powers and learning of the students.
