  • 최신 전투기로 발전할수록 증가되는 소프트웨어 의존도와 네트워크 중심전으로의 작전 수행 개념의 변화, 그리고 무기체계에 대하여 지속적으로 발전하는 사이버 위협의 증가는 전투기 소프트웨어에 대한 강화된 보안 대책을 요구하고 있다. 이러한 상황의 변화는 전투기의 운용 및 소프트웨어 결함에 대한 감항인증 뿐만 아니라, 전투기 소프트웨어에 대한 사이버 위협의 보안 대책도 함께 요구한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 항공기 및 시스템 감항 보안 인증기준인 DO-326A와 DO-356을 적용하여 전투기 운용 환경을 고려한 항공무기체계의 특성과 항공기에 대한 사이버 공격에 대해 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 감항 보안 프로세스를 적용해 본다.

A Study on Restricted Category Type Certification Procedure of Surion Derivatives Rotorcraft (수리온파생형 회전익항공기 민간 제한형식증명 획득 절차에 관한 연구)

  • For operating military aircraft, military certificate of airworthiness (MCA) must be obtained from military authority. Among procedures of general airworthiness certification, there is a military type certification process that aircraft design complies with military airworthiness certification criteria. The Surion is the first military rotorcraft which has obtained military type certificate, production validation and airworthiness certificate in Korea, and the Surion derivatives for special mission are being operated for government services. Based on Aviation Safety Act, in order to operate the Surion derivatives (military aircraft) for special purpose (such as emergency patient transportation and firefighting), the issuance of special airworthiness certificates was needed from civil airworthiness authority, and the restricted category type certification (RTC) is one of design approvals for special airworthiness certification to be streamlined. This study discussed the procedures for acquiring RTC for special purpose operation of the Surion derivatives classified as military derived aircraft, and suggested procedural ideas to improve Korean RTC system.

A Study on the Parameters for Icing Airworthiness Flight Tests of Surion Military Helicopter (수리온 군용헬기의 결빙 감항인증 비행시험을 위한 파라미터 고찰)

  • In order to relieve limitation of flight operation under icing condition and verify its operation in adverse weather condition for Surion, military helicopter developed in Korea, airworthiness certification in icing condition is required. The process of Surion icing certification should be considered by implementation of four methods by step such as CFD analysis, simulated flight tests, artificial icing flight tests, and natural icing flight tests. For Surion icing flight tests, these are required 20~30 sorties and 20~23 hours in artificial icing condition; 20~30 sorties and 20~22 hours in natural icing condition. In addition, to proceed with efficient flight tests, it is necessary to implement artificial icing flight tests in LWC $0.5{\sim}1.0g/m^3;$ natural icing flight tests in less than LWC $0.5g/m^3$.

항공전자부품의 감항성 인증

  • 항공전자부품은 항공기의 핵심기능 분야를 구성하는 부품으로서 개발 및 제작 단계에서 안전성 및 신뢰성 평가를 수행하여야 하며 개발한 항공전자부품을 항공기에 창착하기 위해서는 감항기준에 의거한 적합성을 검증 받아야 한다. 미국 연방항공청에서 고시하고 있는 기술표준품(TAO) 중 항공전자부품은 약 65%를 차지하고 있으며 TSO로 지정되지 않은 PMA 부품 등을 고려하며 부품의 종류 및 량은 상당수에 이르고 있다. 최근의 항공전자부품은 디지털화의 가속화로 비행안전기능이 보강되고 조종사의 업무강도를 줄이는 방향으로 발전되어 가고 있다. 그리고 이러한 분야에는 소프트웨어가 채용되어 소프트웨어의 인증이라는 인증절차가 개발되고 있다. 이 글은 국산 항공전자부품의 개발에 앞서 항공전자부품의 인증 내역을 제시함으로서 국내 독자적인 인증 수행은 물론 설계 참여자들이 인증에 대한 인식이 될 수 있도록 하였고 내용적으로는 미연방항공청(FAA)과 유럽공동감항기구(JAA)의 절차를 중심으로 작성하였다.

A Design of Risk-Based Security Threat Assessment Process for Fighter-Aircraft Airworthiness Security Certification (전투기 감항 보안 인증을 위한 위험기반 보안위협 평가 프로세스 설계)

  • Cyber attacks are an important factor that determines the victory and defeat of Network-centric wars in which advanced weapon systems are highly interlinked. In addition the increasing dependability on software as its develop as the latest fighter is demanding enhanced security measures for fighter software to Cyber attacks. In this paper, we apply the DO-326A, which is an airworthiness security certification standard, to design a risk-based security threat assessment process by reflecting characteristics and operational environment of fighter aircraft. To do this, we add the following steps in security threat assessment stage of DO-326A's airworthiness security certification process. First, we derive security threats of fighter. And then, we scored the security threat in terms of possibility and impact on the fighter. Finally, we determine the security risk severity.

  • As the use of software is increasing in aircraft system, an exposure to the threat of safety and security also continues to grow. Although certification criteria for software safety such as DO-178C have already been established, specific certification criteria for software security have not yet been included. Recently DO-326A, DO-356 and DO-355 have been published separately for aircraft and system airworthiness security certification criteria. However, to comply individual certification criteria and procedures, it requires the additional cost and effort. Therefore, this paper proposes the efficient integrated certification criteria saving cost, effort and time by combining the certification criteria for software safety and security.

A Study on Mission Software Reliability Test Methods of International Joint Development Project for KT-1 Military Aircraft Software (KT-1 군항공기 소프트웨어 국제공동개발 사업의 미션 소프트웨어 신뢰성 시험방안에 관한 연구)

  • Thus far, a mission software component of the KT-1 military fixed-wing aircraft for overseas export has been developed through international joint development with foreign companies. The reliability of the software component could be certified by complying with the development environment and procedures of foreign companies based on DO-178B. However, recently, DO-178C certification is required for overseas exports, and reliability tests to comply with the weapon system software development guidelines are required for domestic military forces. In this paper, we describe the problems in obtaining domestic airworthiness certification in the international joint development of a previously developed KT-1 export-typed aircraft system integration project. To this end, we find a solution to comply with both DO-178C and the Weapon System Software Development and Management Manual and provide the optimal software reliability test method.

  • From design to serial production, aircraft should go thorough complicated certification procedure from airworthiness authority such as Type Certificate, Production Certificate and Certificate of Airworthiness. On the other hand, aircraft components are mandated to receive Technical Standard Order Approval and Production Manufacture Approval before commercial use. As domestic aircraft and LRUs are currently under development, Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement is promoted for the purpose of increasing aviation safety as well as foreign export. This paper describes the basic aircraft certification procedure and compares the difference in the certification system of US and Korea. Thorough this, it is attempted to suggest a requirements for establishing international certification system.

  • Companies around the world are actively developing Personal Air Vehicle (PAV) to solve the serious social problem of traffic jams. Airworthiness certification for PAV is required, since it is a manned vehicle. As with aircraft, the critical threat to the safe operation of PAV is lightning strike with strong thermal load and magnetic fields. Lightning certification issue also remains important for PAV, since there are still insufficient development of PAV-related lightning certification technologies, guidelines, and requirements. In this study, the SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP), an international standard certification guideline recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), was analyzed. In addition, the guideline of lightning certification was applied to a PAV. The impact of lightning on PAV was also analyzed through computational software. Finally, the basis for the establishment of the PAV lightning certification guidance was presented.

  • 기술의 발전에 따라 첨단무기체계인 군용항공기는 전투임무 수행시 내장형소프트웨어(Embedded Software)를 통해 기체내의 항공전자 장치, 항법장치, 조종장치 등의 물리적 기계적 움직임을 제어하고 있으며, 내장형 소프트웨어의 비율은 점점 증가하고 있다. 기체의 물리적 기계적 움직임이 내장형 소프트웨어에 의해 제어 되기 때문에 군용항공기의 전투능력 보존과 국방 목적의 수행을 위해선 먼저 내장형 소프트웨어 고유의 특성을 만족하고, 나아가 소프트웨어 안전성, 신뢰성, 보안성을 확보하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 설계 단계에서 스케줄성에 대해 정형검증 하여, 내장형 소프트웨어의 실시간성, 결정성, 생존성을 보증하고, 이러한 과정을 통해 전체적인 소프트웨어 안전성, 신뢰성, 보안성을 향상시키는 방안을 연구하며, 추가로 2011년 발표된 항공 소프트웨어 표준인 DO-178C에서 요구하는 정형검증을 적용한 국내 감항인증 표준 제정의 확대방안을 연구한다.
