  • This study was conducted to identify the recognition for nursing competency importance, nursing competency level, and their influencing factors of nurses in the long-term care hospitals. Participants were 243 nurses who were working in the 11 long-term care hospitals. Data were collected from August 25 to September 3, 2014. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression by SPSS 19.0. Mean scores of the recognition for nursing competency importance and nursing competency level were $4.21{\pm}0.48$ and $3.47{\pm}0.46$ respectively. Nursing competency level was significantly lower than the recognition for nursing competency importance. The variable influencing the recognition for nursing competency importance was the position(${\beta}=.19$). The variables influencing the nursing competency level were the recognition of nursing competency importance (${\beta}=.37$), age (${\beta}=.20$), current work experience (${\beta}=.13$), health status (${\beta}=.13$). The results suggest the need of developing measurement tool and nursing competency enhancement programs which can well reflect the characteristics of nursing competency required in the long-term care hospital.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the influence of teamwork skill and decision making competency on nursing work performance. A total of 170 nurses more than one years working experience were recruited from two university hospitals. Data were collected during March, 16 to 25, 2016 using a structured self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Teamwork skill and decision making competency for nursing work performance showed significant positive correlation. The significant predictors of nursing work performance among nurses were total clinical experience (${\beta}=.23$, p<.001), teamwork skill (${\beta}=.61$, p<.001) and decision making competency (${\beta}=.13$, p=.015). These variables explained 66% of the variance in nursing work performance among nurses. The results indicate that nurses' teamwork skill and decision making competency are factors positively influencing on nursing work performance.

  • The study aimed to identify convergence effects of nurses' competence of convalescent hospitals. During from July 2019 to August 2019, data were collected from 161 nurses of 8 convalescent hospitals in D city using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS / WIN 25.0 program by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and Stepwise Multiple regression. The findings showed that nursing confidence of nurses at convalescent hospitals was explained 55% by value of work, organizational communication satisfaction, graduate school, no experience of leave of absence, and two shifts work type. The results indicate that to promote nursing competence of participants, it is necessary to improve value of work and organizational communication satisfaction and to provide job training program for re-employed nurses or to graduate school.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of emotional Labor and positive psychological capital on burnout in general hospital nurses. Participants were 157 nurses working at F General Hospital in C City, Gyeongsangnam Province and data were collected from February 8 to 22, 2019. Data were analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression analysis using SPSS Win 23.0. Burnout was positively correlated with emotional labor (r=.531, p<.001), whereas a negative correlation was observed with positive psychological capital (r=-.391, p<.001). Factors influencing burnout included emotional labor (β=.47, p<.001), positive psychological capital (β=-.28, p<.001), with 34.9% explanatory power (F=42.78, p<.001). This result may be useful in developing new strategies for reducing burnout. Further research is needed to identify other factors affecting the burnout of general hospital nurses.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify relationship among critical thinking, nursing process competency and evidence based practice competency of nurses working in middle sized hospitals. A descriptive correlational study design was used. The data were collected from 262 nurses working in the three hospitals located in G and P city using self-administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistic, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA with scheffe, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple linear regression using SPSS Statistics 21.0 program. Nurses' evidence-based practice competency had positive correlation with critical thinking disposition (r=.42, p <.001) and nursing process competency (r=.58, p <.001). Full model accounted for 65.1% of evidence-based practice competency by nursing process competency (${\beta}=.57$, p <.001), critical thinking disposition (${\beta}=.34$, p <.001), critical thinking educational experience (${\beta}=.11$, p=.004), Master's degree (${\beta}=.09$, p=.032). Conclusion: o increase evidence-based practice competency of nurses, it is required to develop critical thinking disposition and nursing process competency of nurses.

  • The study verified the work capacity (job performance, perception, knowledge) and satisfaction on managing the inventory of operating room nurses working in a more than 700-bed hospital. The purpose of this study was to provide basic data of education for work capacity and satisfaction and quality insurance by analyzing the scores between the three different operating rooms and the correlation between the work capacity and satisfaction by investigating the related factors. This study presented a structured and self-administered questionnaire to 181 nurses who had been working in the operating room more than six months. The mean and standard deviation of the job performance, perception, knowledge, and satisfaction were 4.2(${\pm}0.56$), 3.4(${\pm}0.76$), 3.5(${\pm}0.40$), and 3.4(${\pm}0.55$), respectively. The work capacity and satisfaction of each group did not show a statistically significant difference. The correlations between the job performance and knowledge, knowledge and perception, perception and satisfaction were positive (r=.627, p<0.01), (r=.663, p<0.01) and (r=.485, p<0.01), respectively. Among the factors related to the general characteristics of operating room nurses, only age significantly affected their job performance. This study provides basic data on the maintenance and improvement of their competence and satisfaction by being served as a resource for sustainable human resources management and training, and efficient management of the communication channel between hospitals.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between end of life care competencies and terminal care stress of nurses in long term care hospitals. Methods: For this study, 140 nurses were sampled among those that have over 6-month end of life care experience and were working at long term care hospitals located in A city and C city of Chungcheongnam-do. Using a questionnaire, data were collected from January 2018 through March 2018. Data were analyzed using the SPSS, Windows version 21.0, according to the purpose of the study and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA, $Sch\acute{e}ffe^{\prime}s$ test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The mean score on terminal care stress of nurses was above the normal level. The scores on end of life care competencies significantly varied by age, total career at hospitals, death/hospice and palliative care education, and bereavement experience. The mean score of end of life care competencies was negatively correlated with the mean score of lack of knowledge and skills among the subitems of the terminal care stress category (r=-0.260, P=0.002). Conclusion: To decrease the terminal care stress of long term care hospital nurses, it is suggested to carry out end of life care education tailored to nurses characteristics.
