Aim & Scope

The Transactions P of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers(KIEE) which is an official publication of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers aims to publish the highest quality manuscripts dedicated to the advancement of electrical engineering technologies. The first issue of the journal was published in 2000 and it is being published quarterly, appearing on the 1st day of March, June, September, December each year. The Journal contains papers related to Industrial and Systems Applications, New Technology, Information Technology, Technology Education. Review and tutorial articles on contemporary subjects are strongly encouraged

    This thesis proposes a robust controller introducing the $H_{\infty}$ control theory, one of the robust control theories that can obtain desired control performance while ensuring robustness for the uncertainty and disturbance contained in the power system. This thesis also proposes an improved digital exciter control system for a synchronized generator using a digitally designed controller. Simulation to verify the usefulness of the proposed method was carried. Results show that the proposed control system manifests excellent control performance compared to existing control systems.

    In this paper, it has been proposed the simultaneous control of PFC (power factor corrector) and electronic ballast for fluorescent lamp by one chip micro-controller. Boost DC-DC converter is adopted for PFC, and half bridge inverter for electronic ballast. It controls, simultaneously and independently, the boost DC-DC converter and the half bridge inverter. As PFC and electronic ballast are controlled by one chip micro-controller, it is possible to achieve the simpler and the cheaper controller for fluorescent lamp. Experimental results have shown the feasibility of the proposed simultaneous control of PFC and electronic ballast by one chip micro-controller.

    The $Ag_2Te$ crystal was grown by the Bridgman method. The $Ag_2Te$ crystal was an monoclinic structure with lattice constance a = $8.1686{\AA}$, b = $9.0425{\AA}$, c = $8.0065{\AA}$. Hall effect shows a n-type conductivity in the $Ag_2Te$ crystal. The electrical resistivity was 1.080e-$3{\Omega}cm$ and electron mobility was $-5.48{\times}10^3cm^2/V{\cdot}sec$ at room temperature(RT).

    This paper presents a new method for finding the Block Pulse series coefficients, deriving the Block Pulse integration operational matrices and generalizing the integration operational matrices which are necessary for the control fields using the Block Pulse functions. In order to apply the Block Pulse function technique to the problems of state estimation or parameter identification more efficiently, it is necessary to find the more exact value of the Block Pulse series coefficients and integral operational matrices. This paper presents the method for improving the accuracy of the Block Pulse series coefficients and derives generalized integration operational matrix and applied the matrix to the analysis of linear time-invariant system.

    In this paper, an automatic welding system is developed. In the developed system, an automatic welding system is remotely controlled by a portable panel PC. Additional, the DB system such as the operating condition and control data of automatic welding carriage is developed by ATMega128. Therefore, the developed system can overcome the restriction of operating condition, and reduce the weight of welding system and the risk of safety. The effectiveness of the developed system has been verified by the simulation and experimental results respectively.

    In this paper, UPS, which is embedded in computer power supply, is developed against the poor utility power system. In the developed system, PIC16C54 is used as the main controller, and UPS system consists of micom control module, power failure detecting module, charging module, power module, synchronous transfer module, and GUI module. Additionally, GUI module consists of battery charging state unit, power operating unit and operating state unit. The effectiveness of the developed system has been verified by the experimental results.

    Many kinds of speed sensorless control system of induction motor had been developed. But it is difficult to implement at the real system because of complex algorithm and equations. This paper investigates a novel speed sensorless control of induction motor using neural networks. The proposed control strategy is based on neural networks using stator current and output of neural model based on state observer. The errors between the stator current and the output of neural model are back-propagated to adjust the rotor speed, so that adaptive state variable will coincide with the desired state variable. This algorithm may overcome several shortages of conventional model, such as integrator problems, small EMF at low speed and relatively large sensitivity of stator resistance variation. Also, this paper presents a newly developed optimal equation about the momentum constant and the learning rate. The proposed algorithms are verified through simulation.

    In this paper, a direct adaptive tracking controller based Lyapunov method is designed for a wheeled mobile robots. A wheeled mobile robots have three degrees of freedom and two control variables. Therefore, it is difficult to control a mobile robot using the general linear control. We introduce two kinds of Lyapunov function for the design of the controller and verify the controller. A mobile robots using the designed adaptive direct tracking controller is well-behaved and is easily implemented.

    This research is investigated an energy saving system based on human detecting technique. It saves a lot of energy by automatic switching method of lighting, appliance, and so on. Existence of people on space is detected by infrared ray sensor. If there is not anybody during definite time, then main controller of system sends "power off" signal to lighting switches, and outlets. When people are detected again, turn on lighting switches and outlets. Result of this research is adaptable for classrooms and offices, and great effect of energy saving is expected.

    This paper proposes an implicit method for computing the minimum cost feedback vertex set for a graph. For an arbitrary graph, a Boolean function is derived, whose satisfying assignments directly correspond to feedback vertex sets of the graph. Importantly, cycles in the graph are never explicitly enumerated, but rather, are captured implicitly in this Boolean function. This function is then used to determine the minimum cost feedback vertex set. Even though computing the minimum cost satisfying assignment for a Boolean function remains an NP-hard problem, it is possible to exploit the advances made in the area of Boolean function representation in logic synthesis to tackle this problem efficiently in practice for even reasonably large sized graphs. The algorithm has obvious application in flip-flop selection for partial scan. The algorithm proposed in this paper is the first to obtain the MFVS solutions for many benchmark circuits.

    This research is that concern in mathematics education of Technical high school Department of Electricity in the 7th educational curriculum. we indicated problem compare 7th with 6th mathematics curriculum subject contents in Technical high school Department of Electricity. And examine major subject contents, analyzed contents of mathematics that must supplement and mathematics which use in major subject. Established contents of electricity mathematics education that need to major learning to satisfy target of technical high school technical education that is presented in the 7th training courses with this analysis. Also, we hope these results are into consideration when writing new mathematics text in Technical high school Department of Electricity.
