Analysis of Two-tier Supply Chains with Multiplicative Random Yields

  • We consider a two-tier supply chain with multiplicative random yield. We focus on the supply chain performance with respect to the control scheme of determining the production lot size. The profit loss due to distributed control is analyzed to give an insight for devising efficient supply contracts.

Damage Analysis of Rice Panicle Blast on Disease Occurrence Time and Severity

  • The structural differences between healthy and diseasedpanicle necks caused by Pyricularia oryzae were observed using electron-microscope. In the diseased panicle neck, the infection hyphae of the rice blast pathogen grew through the sclerenchymatous fiber tissue and reached to the central internal lacuna. Since the pathogen grew through the sclerenchymatous fiber tissues, the vascular bundle composed with xylem and phloem had been destroyed and finally the nutrients from the leaf and stem were not able to be transported into the grains. Infection of panicle base by the blast pathogen until 20 days after heading caused more than 50% of yield loss in both Jinmibyeo and Chucheongbyeo. There was a positive correlation between incidence of the panicle blast and rice yield losses. The regression equations between incidence of the panicle blast and yield losses were y= -3.61+496.7 ($R^2$=0.70) in Jinmibyeoand y=-3.93+520.2 ($R^2$=0.82) in Juanbyeo. The panicleblast caused deterioration of grain quality. Healthy grain rate was reduced by increase of panicle blast infection.

  • Greenhouse gas emissions are one of the critical factors that drive change in rice cropping systems. Within this changing system, less water irrigation and chemical fertilizer are seriously considered, as well combining precision farming technologies with irrigation control. Water and phosphorus (P) fertilizer are two of the most critical inputs in rice cultivation. Due to the lack of water availability in the system, P fertilizer is not available, especially in acidic soil conditions. Moreover, the various types of abiotic stresses, such as drought, high temperature, salinity, submergence, and limited fertilizer result in significant yield loss in the system. Even in the late stage of growth, the waves caused by diseases and insects make the field more unfruitful. Therefore, agronomists and breeders need to identify the secondary phenotypes to estimate the yield loss of when stress appears. The prediction will be clearer if we have a set of markers tagging the causal variation and the associated precise phenotype indices. Although there have been various studies for abiotic stress tolerance, we still lack functional molecular markers and phenotype indices. This is due to the underlying challenges caused by environmental factors in highly unpredictable regional and yearly environmental conditions in the field system. Pupl (phosphorus uptake 1) is still known as the first QTL associated with phosphorus uptake and have been validated in different field crops. Interestingly, some pyramiding lines of Pupl and other QTLs for other stress tolerances showed preferable phenotypes in the yield. Precise physiological studies with the help of genomics are on-going and some results will be discussed.

소유역의 효과적인 침식조절을 위한 유사평가 툴(SATEEC)의 개발 (Development of Sediment Assessment Tool for Effective Erosion Control (SATEEC) in Small Scale Watershed)

  • The Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) has been used in over 100 countries to estimate potential long-term soil erosion from the field. However, the RUSLE estimated soil erosion cannot be used to estimate the sediment delivered to the stream networks. For an effective erosion control, it is necessary to compute sediment delivery ratio (SDR) for watershed and sediment yield at watershed outlet. Thus, the Sediment Assessment Tool for Effective Erosion Control (SATEEC) was developed in this study to compute the sediment yield at any point in the watershed. To compute spatially distributed sediment yield map, the RUSLE was first integrated with the ArcView GIS and three area based sediment delivery ratio methods were incorporated in the SATEEC. The SATEEC was applied to the Bangdong watershed, Chuncheon, Gangwon Province to demonstrate how it can be used to estimate soil loss and sediment yield for a watershed. The sediment yield using USDA SDR method is 8,544 ton/year and 4,949 ton/year with the method by Boyce. Thus, use of watershed specific SDR is highly recommended when comparing the estimated sediment yield with the measured sediment data. The SATEEC was applied with hypothetical cropping scenario and it was found that the SATEEC can be used to assess the impacts of different management on the sediment delivered to the stream networks and to find the sediment source areas for a reach of interest. The SATEEC is an efficient tool to find the best erosion control practices with its easy-to-use interface.

  • Yield enhancement in semiconductor fabrication is important. Even though DRAM yield loss may be attributed to many problems, the existence of defects on the wafer is one of the main causes. When the defects on the wafer form patterns, it is usually an indication for the identification of equipment problems or process variations. In this paper describes the techniques to automatically classify a failure pattern using a fail bit map.

수율과 신뢰도의 상충효과를 고려한 번인 (Burn-in Considering a Trade-Off of Yield and Reliability)

  • Burn-in is an engineering method for screening out products containing reliability defects which would cause early failures in field operation. Previously, various burn-in models have been proposed mainly focused on the trade-off of shop repair cost and warranty cost ignoring manufacturing yield. From the view point of a manufacturer, however, burn-in decreases warranty cost at the expense of yield reduction. In this paper, we provide a general model quantifying a trade-off between product yield and reliability, in which any defect distribution from previous yield models can be used. A profit function is expressed in burn-in environments for determining an optimal burn-in time. Finally, the method is illustrated with gate oxide failures which is an important reliability concerns for VLSI CMOS circuits.

온산(溫山) 공단지역(工團地域)의 배출(排出)가스 (아황산(亞黃酸))가 농작물(農作物) 수량(收量) 및 식물체내(植物體內) 유황함량(硫黃含量)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effect to Agricultural Crop Yield and Sulfur Content in Leaves by Sulfur Dioxide Gas Emission from Onsan Nonferric Metal Industrial Complex)

  • 아황산(亞黃酸)가스가 배출(排出)되는 공단주변(工團周邊)에서 재배(栽培)되는 배나무와 수도(水稻)의 엽내(葉內) 류황함량(硫黃含量) 및 감수율(減收率)을 조사(調査)하여 아황산(亞黃酸)가스가 수량(收量) 및 엽내(葉內) 류황(硫黃) 축적에 미치는 영향과 이들간의 관계(關係)를 규명하기 위해 실시한 실험(實驗)의 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1) 배나 수도(水稻) 공(共)히 대조지점(對照地點)에 비해 피해지점(被害地點)의 엽내(葉內) 류황함량(硫黃含量)이 높고 감수(減收)가 되는 경향을 보였다. 2) 배나 수도(水稻) 모두 엽내(葉內) 류황함량(硫黃含量)과 감수율간(減收率間)에는 매우 높은 유의상관(有意相關)을 보여 공해(公害)의 영향(影響)으로 감수(減收)가 된다는 것을 보여 주었다. 3) 류황산화물(硫黃酸化物)(SOx)을 주로 배출(排出)하는 공단주변(工團周邊)에 재배(栽培)되는 배나 수도(水稻)의 공해피해(公害被害)에 의한 보상(補償)을 위(爲)해서는 엽내(葉內) 류황함량(硫黃含量)과 실감수율(實減收率)과의 회귀식(回歸式)을 아황산(亞黃酸)가스 피해지(被害地)에서의 수량감수율(收量減收率) 조사(調査)에 참고(參考)함이 좋을 것으로 생각된다.

GIS 기반에서 토양침식의 정량화를 위한 해상도 결정에 관한 연구 (The Determination of Resolution for Quantification of Soil Loss in GIS Environment)

  • 강우나 물의 유출에 의한 토양침식은 농업 생산성을 떨어뜨리고 목초지를 손상시키며, 물의 흐름을 방해하는 등의 각종 환경적인 문제를 야기시키고 있다. 또한 침식된 토사의 하천유입으로 저수지나 댐의 유효저수량이 감소되는 문제가 발생하고 있다. GIS를 연계하여 유역의 토양침식량을 추정하기 위해 수정범용토양손실공식(RUSLE)을 주로 활용하고 있으나, 실측자료와의 비교가 어려워 계산된 토양침식량을 정량적으로 평가하는 것은 큰 의미가 없다 본 연구에서는 RUSLE 모형으로 계산한 토양침식량의 정량적인 추정을 위해 보성강 유역의 비퇴사량 실측자료를 이용하였다. RUSLE 모형으로 계산한 비유사량과 비퇴사량 실측자료로부터 계산한 비유사량과의 비교 검토를 통해 RUSLE 계산에 적합한 해상도를 결정한 결과, 150m의 셀크기가 가장 적절한 것으로 평가되었다.

식물유래 섬유자원의 재활용: 탈묵 수율 개선을 위한 신문 지료의 수화 촉진 방안 (Recycling of Plant Fiber Resources: Enhanced Hydration of Newspaper Stock for Decrease of Deinking Reject)

  • The recycling rate of recovered paper in Korea is the highest in the world, 92%, but remanufacturing yield is low due to the extremely poor quality of the paper. The poor quality, in turn, influences to the reject amount in deinking process. To increase the yield of old newspaper recycling process, hydrophobic degree of inorganic pigments of deinking stock must be reduced. To determine the hydrophobicity, Pitch Potential Deposit Tester (PDT) was newly designed and applied with respect to the SB latex property of various quality used in Korea; its hydrophobic degree according to Tg, gel content, charge and particle size of latex and optimum designing condition of SB latex. And below are the conclusions: 1. The reason of excessive reject from old newspaper deinking process for total amount of printed ink is loss of inorganic pigments. When lipase, a biochemical catalyst, was applied with the purpose of preventing inorganic pigments loss about more than 70% of total reject weight and promoting hydration of pulp for deinking, deinking process yield of pre flotation secondary stage increased remarkably without any changes of deinking efficiency. 2. Lipase improved deinking stock by cutting ester linkage on surface of hydrophobic materials to promote its hydration. From this, it reached the conclusion that hydration degree of stock exercises significant effect on flotation deinking process yield. 3. Inorganic alkali promotes hydration of deinking stock. But there have been needs for more fundamental measures other than inorganic alkali of promoting hydration for yield improvement. For this, this study intended to find out reasons of chemical properties change on surface of hydrophobic material by change of pH. 4. Pitch Deposit Test (PDT) was performed for understanding principle of why surface of coating flake from OMG is hydrophobic and why it becomes hydrophilic when pH of stock is alkaline. As a result of this test, it is determined that swelling property by change of pH of latex film, which were used as coating adhesive is the reason for hydrophobic change. 5. Hydrophilicity of coating flake increased with hydrophilic pigments. And as more of SB Latex adhesive was used and higher of calcium hardness of stock became, its hydrophilicity decreased. SB Latex adhesive film is reformed by mechanical friction. For having hydrophilicity under neutral pH, strong bruising action such as kneading is required. 6. Because swelling of adhesive film decreases as Tg of SB latex gets lower and mean diameter gets smaller, it shows hydrophobicity under neutral pH. This lowers hydrophilicity of coating flake, which leads to easy elimination with flotation reject on DIP process. Therefore, for improving future flotation yield, it is necessary to develop to use eco-friendly clean SB latex by raising Tg and increasing mean diameter for recycling, and as a result, to reduce excessive loss of coating flake as a reject from deinking process.

계통연계형 태양광발전시스템의 성능 추정방법 (Performance Estimation Method of Grid-Connected Photovoltaic System)

  • This paper presents performance estimation approach of grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) system to predict energy yield from irradiance to PV system using normalized yield model for changing meteorological conditions. The accuracy and validity of proposed performance estimation method is identified by compared measured with estimated yield using monitored data. These results will indicate that it is useful to estimate various loss factors causing the system performance obstruction and enhance the lifetime yield of PV system.
