  • Purpose: To improve pulmonary function and decrease in balance ability with increasing forward head position and vertebral curvature, we applied Figure-8 brace to confirm the immediate effect on vital capacity and balance and to see if it is applicable. Methods: A total of 34 elderly women aged 65 or older and young women in their 20s with FHP were screened to measure vital capacity, measuring the forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) and forced vital capacity (FVC), and measuring the foot pressure to see the change in balance. For statistical analysis, the difference between pre and post values was compared using pared t-test. Results: As a result of vital capacity measurements, there was no significant difference between FEV1 and FVC for women over 65 years old (p>0.05). Young women in their 20s had no significant difference in FEV1 (p>0.05), and FVC had significant differences (p<0.05). In measuring foot pressure to measure balance, both women aged 65 and above and young women in their 20s had a significant decrease in anterior foot pressure, and a significant increase in posterior foot pressure (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study did not positively affect the vital capacity of elderly women with FHP. However, the significant increase in vital capacity of young women in their 20s suggests that contraction of the abdominal muscle is necessary during forced expiration. Therefore, it is believed that proper application and therapeutic interventions should be combined when applying Figure-8 brace.

Second, in the working place, clothing norms coexist as stipulated by statutes, company rules, and official documents as well as others implied by experiences of sanction against members. Workplace closing norms are classified into norms of exposure that draw attention to clothes and casual clothes. Third, it showed that factors pressuring clothing norms are classified as external pressures and by spontaneous self-censorship that cause conflict and confusion with working women's fashion according to the degree of pressure. Two kinds of pressure by others (or types of departments and members) were observed.

In the second phase of analysis, the three participants were re-selected in each type were measured by Sliding Guage and analyzed their lower body somatotype. The results were as follows; The components of lower body of 20s' women were extracted with 7 factors through factor analysis and orthogonal rotation by the method of Varimax. The rate of the cumulative contribution was 84.1% the first factor was the thickness of lower body, the second factor was the vertical size of lower body the third factor was the front shape of hip, the forth factor was the vertical size of hip, the fifth factor was the shape of abdomen, the six factor was the flat-ratio of waist and the seventh factor was flat-ratio of hip. The somatotype of 20's women's lower body can be classified into 3 types. The subjects were 304 women in their 20s, 40s and 60s born in Japan and living in Osaka at present, and 81 items were measured. The major results of this study are described below. All women in their 20s, 40s and 60s showed significant differences in weight, waist size and abdominal size. The 19 height items of which group were different from the measurements of the women in their 60s. All 20 length items displayed a significant difference by age group. The significant differences by age group were also observed in eight items of 12 width items, 10 items of 13 thickness items and 13 items of 14 girth items except the ankle girth. The weight measurements had a significant difference by age group(${\le}0.05$). The women in their 20s, 40s and 60s revealed almost similar values in the shoulder angles. As a result of the analysis above, the items that were considered being included in the obesity items in all age groups displayed significant personal differences. • In oriental medicine, the skin of the face and the body is the mirror of the viscera and bowels. Skin aging is measured according to the elasticity and glossiness of the skin, which is perceived as a matter of fluid-humor within the realms of oriental medicine. Fluid-humor refers to normal body fluid that makes the skin moist and supple and the hair bright and glossy. If the body is lacking fluid-humor, the hair and skin will be dry and coarse. 'The improvement of fluid-humor (nutrition)' is facilitated based on the oriental physiological change theory for middle-aged women. A new study is therefore necessary to develop oriental herbal cosmetics for young women in their 20s. As yet, there has been no study on the effect of herbal cosmetics formulated for middle-aged women and used by young women in their 20s. This study aims to investigate the effect of 'the improvement of fluid-humor' for the skin of young women in their 20s within the theory of oriental medicine. This kind of study is essential for oriental skin care and the development of diverse oriental herbal cosmetics. To determine the effect of oriental herbal cosmetics on young women in their 20s based on the theory of oriental medicine, which says that a shortage of fluid-humor causes skin aging, this study has examined the skin conditions of young women in their 20s and how satisfied they are with oriental herbal cosmetics through an objective equipment-based measurement and subjective questionnaire survey.

  • This research attempted to examine whether there were differences in preference for the shoes according to fashion lifestyle and age by conducting survey on 200 women of 20s and 40s among the adult women who were expected to have interest in not only functionality but also aesthetic aspects of shoes. First, the results of comparing the preferences according to fashion lifestyles showed that those who pursued practical group preferred loafer, strap shoes, and baggy boots, indicating that they preferred low and comfortable shape of shoes which are easy to put on/take off and easy to coordinate with any clothes. Those who pursued personality group and ostentation group were more sensitive to fashion than practical group preferred high heel shoes, which could express their own personality, it would be great to have various designs by reflecting the trendy materials and details focusing on pumps, strap and walker boots which can express individuality and supplement the body shape and height as matching to the trendy clothes. Second, as women in 20s have tendency to show more preference of a certain trendy shoes shape than women in 40s, the shoes designs for 20s should focus on certain types of shoes preferred by them by varying materials and details, rather than having various designs. However, it would be great to show various designs for the shoes for 40s. Most of the 20s are the individual and complex fashion-seeking types while the 40s have the most of practical fashion-seeking type and the least of individual fashion-seeking type.

Five dimensions of clothing benefits were identified by factor analysis: individuality, social recognition, well-known brands, practicality, and low price pursuit. The respondents were classified into four groups by marital status and age, as well as two groups only by marital status. There were significant differences among the groups in demographic characteristics, consumption values, and clothing benefits. • The purpose of this research was to understand the process of American women's adoption of knickerbockers from the mid-nineteenth to the early twentieth century. Articles and advertisements related to women's knickerbockers found from The New York Times were used as primary sources. Before 1920, women wore knickerbockers when they participated in sports including gymnasium, bicycling, and swimming. Knickerbockers were mostly worn with overskirts when women appeared in the public. Therefore, knickerbockers were categorized as underwear in the advertisements until the late 1910s. However, knickerbockers were even worn on the streets and in offices after American women gained suffrage in 1920. As more women adopted knickerbockers during the 1920s, the public criticisms and regulations on women's knickerbockers intensified. However, the articles on women's knickerbockers gradually disappeared from The New York Times, as they went out of fashion by the end of the 1920s. Considering the social situation and the change in womanhood during the period, I concluded that American women's adoption process of knickerbockers reflected the increase in women's mobility, and the change in gender roles and the definition of femininity.
