  • The phospholipid-based MPCE(2-Methacryloxyethyl Phosphoryl Chlorine) copolymer was mixed with wet polyurethane for coating of nylon fabrics. The substitution rate of water in coagulation bath with DMF was changed under control of the size of formed hydrophilic microporous cell enable to manufacture excellent breathable, anti-bacterial and moisture control fabrics. Biocompatible property, vapor permeability, hydrostatic pressure, moisture management and anti-bacterial property were investigated for treated nylon fabrics. In result, increased moisture transmission rates, decreased water resistance and outstanding moisture control property could be confirmed by enhanced hydrophilicity of wet-coated nylon fabric with MPCE copolymer.

  • Graphene is very interesting 2 dimensional material providing unique properties. Especially, graphene has been investigated as a stretchable and transparent conductor due to its high mobility, high optical transmittance, and outstanding mechanical properties. On the contrary, high sheet resistance of extremely thin monolayer graphene limits its application. Artificially stacked multilayer graphene is used to decrease its sheet resistance and has shown improved results. However, stacked multilayer graphene requires repetitive and unnecessary transfer processes. Recently, growth of multilayer graphene has been investigated using a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method but the layer controlled synthesis of multilayer graphene has shown challenges. In this paper, we demonstrate controlled growth of multilayer graphene using a two-step process with multi heating zone low pressure CVD. The produced graphene samples are characterized by optical microscope (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Raman spectroscopy is used to distinguish a number of layers in the multilayer graphene. Its optical and electrical properties are also analyzed by UV-Vis spectrophotometer and probe station, respectively. Atomic resolution images of graphene layers are observed by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM).

  • Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays have promising potential to replace liquid crystal displays (LCDs) due to their advantages of low power consumption, fast response time, broad viewing angle and flexibility. Organic light emitting materials are vulnerable to moisture and oxygen, so inorganic thin films are required for barrier substrates and encapsulations.[1-2]. In this work, the silicon-based inorganic thin films are deposited on plastic substrates by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) at low temperature. It is necessary to deposit thin film at low temperature. Because the heat gives damage to flexible plastic substrates. As one of the transparent diffusion barrier materials, silicon oxides have been investigated. $SiO_x$ have less toxic, so it is one of the more widely examined materials as a diffusion barrier in addition to the dielectric materials in solid-state electronics [3-4]. The $SiO_x$ thin films are deposited by a PECVD process in low temperature below $100^{\circ}C$. Water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) was determined by a calcium resistance test, and the rate less than $10.^{-2}g/m^2{\cdot}day$ was achieved. And then, flexibility of the film was also evaluated.

  • In this study, four kinds of vapor-permeable waterproofed fabrics were selected and their properties and the changes of properties were investigated after laundering, petroleum drycleaning or tetrachloroethylene drycleaning (each 1, 5, 10 times). The results were as follows: 1) In the water resistance, only Gore Tex satisfied its minimum property requirements, $1.0kg/cm^2$ It decreased after laddering and drycleaning. Hipora-1000, Hipora-2000, Aitac decreased slightly by petroleum drycleaning and Gore Tex decreased slightly by all three methods. 2) In the moisture vapor transmission, three except Hipora-2000 satisfied its minimum property requirement, $4000g/m^2{\cdot}24hr$.24hr. After laundering and drycleaning, it increased regardless of cleaning methods. 3) In the water repellency, Hipora-lOOG, Hipora-2000 were not almost decreased after laundering and drycleaning. Aitac decreased slightly by petrolem drycleaning and Gore Tex decreased slightly by laundering and petroleum drycleaning. 4) Air permeability of Aitac increased with increasing of cleaning times regardless of cleaning methods. 5) In the bond strength, only Gore Tex dissatisfied its minimum property requirements, 250g/cm. Regardless of cleaning method, bond strength decreased with increasing of cleaning times. 6) Color difference was large in case of Hipora-1000 by laundering, Hipora-2000 by laundering and tetrachloroethylene drycleaning Aitac by tetrachloroethylene drycleaning, Gore Tex by laundering. To diminish property change of vaper-permeable waterproofed fabric, petroleum drycleaning is more effective than laundering and tetrachloroethylene drycleaning.

  • 30 nm thick Ni layers were deposited on a glass substrate by e-beam evaporation. Subsequently, 30 nm or 60 nm ${\alpha}-Si:H$ layers were grown at low temperatures ($<220^{\circ}C$) on the 30 nm Ni/Glass substrate by catalytic CVD (chemical vapor deposition). The sheet resistance, phase, microstructure, depth profile and surface roughness of the $\alpha-Si:H$ layers were examined using a four-point probe, HRXRD (high resolution Xray diffraction), Raman Spectroscopy, FE-SEM (field emission-scanning electron microscopy), TEM (transmission electron microscope) and AES depth profiler. The Ni layers reacted with Si to form NiSi layers with a low sheet resistance of $10{\Omega}/{\Box}$. The crystallinty of the $\alpha-Si:H$ layers on NiSi was up to 60% according to Raman spectroscopy. These results show that both nano-scale NiSi layers and crystalline Si layers can be formed simultaneously on a Ni deposited glass substrate using the proposed low temperature catalytic CVD process.

  • Electrical and optical characteristics of indium tin oxide (ITO) and indium zinc oxide (IZO) films without and with $(SiO_2)_3(ZnO)_7$ at.% (SZO) film deposited on poly(ethylene naphthalate) (PEN) and poly(ethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates as a gas barrier layer for flexible display were studied. The ITO and IZO films with SZO gas barrier layer showed the improved properties which were both the high transmittance of average 80% in the visible light range and the decreased sheet resistance as compared to those of ITO and IZO films without SZO layer. Particularly, the PEN substrate with only SZO gas barrier layer had a low water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of $\sim10^{-3}g/m^2$/day. Thus, we suggest that the SZO film with protection ability against the water vapor permeation can be applied to gas barrier layer for flexible display.

  • Electrical properties of Pt/Ti/Au/Pt contacts to n-GaAs were characterized as the V/III ratio of GaAs grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition were 25, 50, and 100, respectively. The samples have been annealed during 30sec at 350 and $450^{\circ}C$ in rapid thermal annealing, and those specific contact resistance investigated by using transmission line method. According to experimental results, the specific contact resistance between p-metal and GaAs was decreased as the V/III ratio was lower. These results indicate that Si doping concentration of GaAs increased as the vacancy of V-series of GaAs was high.

  • In this the study, Lyocell fabrics for blanket were developed to get high value added goods for elder and Infant. Therefore, the purpose of the study was determine the effect of twist per inch on the physical properties of developed fabrics, including compression property and abrasion resistance on the process for making Lyocell combined yarns. For comparison, commonly used cotton blanket was used. The results were as the follows: 1) Dimensional changes of Lyocell fabrics was in -3% which value was pretty stable, and antistatic property was very good with 10V of electric propensity voltage which means there was no static electricity at all. Pilling property of Lyocell fabrics showed 3 grade which was good and air permeability and moisture vapor transmission rate of Lyocell fabrics were higher than those of cotton fabric and keeping warmth rate of Lyocell fabrics was about 50% which means it very warms. 2) Twist per inch of Lyocell combined yarns increased with tensile strength and elongation of Lyocell fabrics. 3) Twist per inch of Lyocell combined yarns increased with decreasing thickness reduction rate and therefore, compression property of those was pretty good. Specially, compression property of Lyocell fabrics made with yarns of 3.9TPI was better than those of cotton fabric. 4) Twist per inch of Lyocell combined yarns increased with abrasion resistance of Lyocell fabrics.

  • To develop wide-band noise absorbers with a special design for low-frequency performance, this study proposes a tin oxide (Sn-O) thin films as the noise absorbing materials in a microstrip line. Sn-O thin films were deposited on polyimide film substrates by reactive sputtering of the Sn target under flowing $O_{2}$ gas, exhibiting a wide variation of surface resistance (in the range of $10^{0}-10^{5}{\Omega}$) depending on the oxygen partial pressure during deposition. The microstrip line with characteristic impedance of $50\Omega$ was used for the measurement of noise absorption by the Sn-O films. The reflection parameter $(S_{11})$ increased with a decrease of surface resistance due to an impedance mismatch at the boundary between the film and the microstrip line. Meanwhile, the transmission parameter $(S_{21})$ diminished with a decrease of surface resistance resulting from an Ohmic loss of the Sn-O films. The maximum noise absorption predicted at an optimum surface resistance of the Sn-O films was about $150{\Omega}$. For this film, greater power absorption is predicted in the lower frequency region (about 70% at 1 GHz) than in conventional magnetic sheets of high magnetic loss, indicating that Ohmic loss is the predominant loss parameter for the conduction noise absorption in the low frequency band.

  • To develop a waterproof breathable material, we fabricated three kinds of nanofiber web laminates using a massproduced electrospun nanofiber web with different substrates and layer structures. The waterproofness and breathability of nanofiber web laminates were evaluated after repeated launderings and compared with those of conventional waterproof breathable fabrics currently in use, including densely woven fabric, microporous membrane laminated fabric, and coated fabric. The durability of nanofiber web laminates, including adhesion strength, abrasion resistance, tensile strength, and tearing strength, was also assessed and compared with those of conventional waterproof breathable fabrics. The water vapor transmission of nanofiber web laminates increased slightly after repeated launderings, whereas the air permeability somewhat decreased after launderings but still maintained an acceptable level of air permeability. Laundering reduced the resistance to water penetration of nanofiber web laminates, which implies that laminating techniques or substrate materials that could support waterproofness of the laminated structure should be explored. The adhesion strength, abrasion resistance, tensile strength, and tearing strength of nanofiber web laminates were in a range comparable to conventional waterproof breathable materials.
