  • In this paper we establish limit theorems on the large and small increments of a two-parameter Gaussian random process on rectangles in the Euclidean plane via estimating upper bounds of large deviation probabilities on suprema of the two-parameter Gaussian random process.

  • In this paper, we present a Schwarz lemma at the boundary for analytic functions at the unit disc, which generalizes classical Schwarz lemma for bounded analytic functions. For new inequalities, the results of Jack's lemma and Hankel determinant were used. We will get a sharp upper bound for Hankel determinant H2(1). Also, in a class of analytic functions on the unit disc, assuming the existence of angular limit on the boundary point, the estimations below of the modulus of angular derivative have been obtained.

  • This paper considers a new flow-shop scheduling problem where a different WIP (work-in-process) state has different weight on the duration time. For the two machine case, the recognition version is NP-Complete in the strong sense. Several special cases are solved by different polynomial time algorithms. Finally, we develop a heuristic and provide an upper-bound on relative error which is tight in limit.

  • This study presents failure mechanisms for the pull-out strength of headed reinforcement for upper bound solution based on the limit theorem. The failure mechanisms to be presented follow the failure surface pattern of punching shear failure found in the joints of slab with a column. Several failure surfaces of the mechanisms have different characteristics for dissipation works and these mechanisms are able to interpret the role of bar details surrounding headed reinforcement.

  • This paper presents the analysis results predicted by the upper bound approach in the limit analysis of concrete incorporating the original plastic and crack sliding solutions for short high-strength concrete beams that varied the compressive strength of concrete, and the shear span-to-depth and vertical shear reinforcement ratios. The significance of the distance away from the support to define the location where the yield line starts and the properties of cracked concrete, particularly related to high-strength concrete, is identified.

  • The problem of selecting the optimal target values in a canning process is considered for situations where there is a linear shift in the mean of the content of a can which is assumed to be normally distributed with known variance. The target values are initial process mean, length of resetting cycle and controllable upper limit. Profit models are constructed which involve give-away, rework, and resetting costs. Methods of finding the optimal target values are presented and a nemerical example is given.

  • It is known that a right nilpotent congruence $\beta$ on a finite algebra A is also left nilpotent [3]. The question on whether the left nilpotency class of $\beta$ in less than or equal to the right nilpotency class of $\beta$is still open. In this paper we find an upper limit for the left nilpotency class of $\beta$. In addition, under the assumption that 1 $\in$ typ{A}, we show that $(\beta]^k=[\beta)^k$ for all k$\geq$1. Thus the left and right nilpotency classes of $\beta$ are the same in this case.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose indoor noise level in residential buildings affected by transportation noise (road traffic, railway and air-craft noise) based on subjective evaluations. 30 subjects participated in the experiment to evaluate the noise. Experimental environment reproduced real living and office environment, and in asking subjects' annoyance to the noise. (omitted)

  • This paper describes the automation of the surface grinder for a grinding wheel by application of programmable logic controller(PLC) with a position sensor, and a limit switch. The control system is designed to provide feeding a workpiece on the turn table and pressing it by the upper disk automatically. In this development the automation of checking the thickness of a grinding wheel is most important. In order to measure the relative displacement, the proximity sensors were employed and the sensitivities of the sensors were investicated and discussed the superiority. It has been shown by model experiment that the automation system of the surface grinder is performed satisfactory.

  • We report a null detection of $^{12}CO$ emission from a sub-condensation in a High Velocity Cloud (HVC). As a consequence of this, an upper limit of $n(H_2)\frac{X(CO)}{DV/DR}{\leq}2{\times}10^{-5}$ was set. This implies that $^{12}CO$ abundance is deficient by at least a factor of 10 if the HVC is predominantly molecular, otherwise the CO abundance of the HVC might be normal.
