  • YKR049C is a mitochondrial protein in Saccharomyces cerevisiae that is conserved among yeast species, including Candida albicans. However, no biological function for YKR049C has been ascribed based on its primary sequence information. In the present study, NMR spectroscopy was used to determine the putative biological function of YKR049C based on its solution structure. YKR049C shows a well-defined thioredoxin fold with a unique insertion of helices between two $\beta$-strands. The central $\beta$-sheet divides the protein into two parts; a unique face and a conserved face. The 'unique face' is located between ${\beta}2$ and ${\beta}3$. Interestingly, the sequences most conserved among YKR049C families are found on this 'unique face', which incorporates L109 to E114. The side chains of these conserved residues interact with residues on the helical region with a stretch of hydrophobic surface. A putative active site composed by two short helices and a single Cys97 was also well observed. Our findings suggest that YKR049C is a redox protein with a thioredoxin fold containing a single active cysteine.

  • We use Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem to show that the nonlinear neutral difference equation with delay x(t + 1) = a(t)x(t) + c(t)${\Delta}$x(t - g(t)) + q(t, x(t), x(t - g(t)) has a periodic solution. To apply Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem, one would need to construct two mappings; one is contraction and the other is compact. Also, by making use of the variation of parameters techniques we are able, using the contraction mapping principle, to show that the periodic solution is unique.

  • Vecer derived a degenerate parabolic equation characterizing the price of Asian options with generally sampled average. It is well understood that there exists a unique probabilistic solution to Vecer's PDE but it remained unclear whether the probabilistic solution is a classical solution. We prove that the probabilistic solution to Vecer's PDE is indeed regular.

  • We are concerned with finding a common solution to an equilibrium problem associated with a bifunction, and a constrained convex minimization problem. We propose an iterative fixed point algorithm and prove that the algorithm generates a sequence strongly convergent to a common solution. The common solution is identified as the unique solution of a certain variational inequality.

  • In general, the positive solution to biological reaction-diffusion equations is not unique. In this paper, we state the sufficient and necessary conditions of the existence of positive solutions, and give and the proof for the uniqueness of positive solutions for a certain elliptic interacting system.

  • In this paper, we study backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs shortly) with jumps that have Lipschitz generator in a general filtration supporting a Brownian motion and an independent Poisson random measure. Under just integrability on the data we show that such equations admit a unique solution which belongs to class 𝔻.

  • In this paper, a homotopy continuation method for obtaining the unique Hermitian positive definite solution of the nonlinear matrix equation $X-{\sum_{i=1}^{m}}A^{\ast}_iX^{-p_i}A_i=I$ with $p_i$ > 1 is proposed, which does not depend on a good initial approximation to the solution of matrix equation.

  • This paper is devoted to investigate the existence of the solutions for a class of the noncooperative elliptic system involving critical Sobolev exponents. We show the existence of the negative solution for the problem. We show the existence of the unique negative solution for the system of the linear part of the problem under some conditions, which is also the negative solution of the nonlinear problem. We also consider the eigenvalue problem of the matrix.

  • In this paper, we show the existence and uniqueness of solution to stochastic differential equations under weakened $H{\ddot{o}}lder$ condition and a weakened linear growth condition. Furthermore, the properties of their solutions investigated and estimate for the error between Picard iterations $x_n(t)$ and the unique solution x(t) of SDEs.
