  • According to resource based view, knowledge is regarded as a salient factor to improve an organization's efficiency in the current fast-changing business environment. Knowledge management (KM) may encourage employees to share and exchange knowledge in the organization in order to improve and sustain a competitive advantage over other companies. The proposed research model examines the impacts of KM performances' antecedents on an employee's absorptive capacity. This study identifies KM performances as employee's satisfaction about KM and shared knowledge quality. This study considers KM performances as the major determinants that enhance his/her absorptive capacity. This study also investigates the key antecedents of KM performances. The research model posits extrinsic reward, intrinsic reward, and relational reward as the KM performances' antecedents. Furthermore, this study examines the difference of the antecedents' effects in terms of firm's type. The proposed research model was tested by using survey data collected from 1,103 employees of 2 public enterprises and 907 employees of 5 private enterprises. The findings of this study showed that employee's satisfaction about KM and shared knowledge quality play a significant role in enhancing employee' absorptive capacity. Extrinsic reward only significantly influences employee's satisfaction about KM, whereas both intrinsic and relational rewards serve as the salient antecedents of improving both KM performances. The results also shed light on the moderating role of firm's type. Theoretical and practical implications of this study are discussed.

  • This study aims to identify the effects of job factors related to children's teachers on job satisfaction and present suggestions through an analysis of the modulating effects according to the type of institute. In order to achieve this purpose, this study set up a cause and effect model on teacher's efficacy, emotional intelligence, friendship, and a reward system as factors of job satisfaction and analysed them based on interviews using a questionnaire. To look into the results of the analysis, it was discovered that a reward system had the greatest effect on job satisfaction for the subjects, followed by emotional intelligence, friendship, and teacher's efficacy. In an analysis of modulating effects according to the type of institute, the effect of emotional intelligence differed significantly depending on kindergartens and day care centers. Teacher's efficacy, friendship and a reward system were not significantly different. Based on the results above, this study provides basic data for the development of strategies for children's teachers to effectively achieve job satisfaction.

  • This paper empirically examines various personal characteristics and preferences of HRM (Human Resorce Mamagement) systems using data from 968 R&D professionals in 9 private R&D organizations. It identifies different patterns of reward and career development needs associated with 4 types of R&D professionals, who are categorized by personal characteristics: personality and attitude. A productive leader type shows active personal traits (which encompass high scores of need for achievement, risk-taking propensity, tolerance for ambiguity, and self-efficacy) and positive attitudes (which include high scores of job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and low scores of turnover intention), while a cynical bystander type exhibits passive personal traits and negative attitudes toward a job. A passive adapter, who has passive personal characteristics but positive attitudes, and a frustrated champion, who is active in personality but negative in current job attitude, lie in between them. The results reveal that: 1) These four different types of R&D professionals show differences in their education, age and tenure level, and technical performance. 2) They have different career orientations and problem solving styles. 3) They also exhibit different preferences in performance appraisal criteria and rater, and reward structures. Based on these findings, this study suggests a contingent type of human resource management in terms of selection and staffing of R&D professionals, performance appraisal, incentive systems, and career development plans.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of the occupational commitment of dental hygienists in Korea. The independent variables contain three groups of work rewards variables which consist of task reward variables (autonomy, job significance, resource adequacy, role conflict, workload, and routinization), social reward variables(supervisory support, co-worker support, and negative affectivity), and organizational reward variables(job security and promotional chances), and eight sociodemographic variables. The sample of this study consisted of 474 dental hygienists who work at general hospitals, university hospitals, dental hospitals and clinics across the nation. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using hierarchical regression technique. It was found that: (1) job significance have a significant positive effect on the occupational commitment of dental hygienists; (2) role conflict, workload, routinization, and type of work site have significant negative effect on the occupational commitment of dental hygienists; (3) the study model explains 23.7% of the variance in occupational commitment among dental hygienists. The results of the study indicate that managers of dental clinics and hospitals should make efforts to extend the scope and quality of dental hygienists' work through job enlargement and job enrichment.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the transformational or transactional leadership styles of Korean dietitians. The study was completed with Korean dietitians (n = 268, $67\%$ response) using mail survey. The leadership styles were divided into transformational (including charisma, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration) and transactional (contingent reward, management by exception) leadership found in the several literature. Overall, the score of Korean dietitians' transactional leadership was higher than that of the transformational leadership (p < .05). Among three sub-dimensions of the transformational leadership styles, the score of 'individualized consideration' was higher than 'charisma' and 'intellectual stimulation'. Between two sub-dimensions of the transactional leadership styles, Korean dietitians used more 'management-by-exception' than 'contingent reward'. ANOVA results suggested that the transformational leadership was more likely to be used by the younger dietitians, while the transactional leadership was more likely to be used by the older dietitians (p < .05). Data showed that dietitians having 3-6 year dietetic experience used more transformational leadership than other experienced dietitians (p < .05). It was also found that the Korean dietitians' leadership styles were influenced by the type of dietetic practice area. Data showed that 'charisma', 'intellectual stimulation', 'individualized consideration' and 'contingent reward' were more likely to be used by Korean dietitians from school than by dietitians from health. care and industry (p < .05). This study will be useful for dietitians to guide the application of appropriate leadership style in order to increase employees' job satisfaction as well as organizational performance. • The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effect of the reporting earnings strategy on the relationship between managerial ability and manager performance-reward sensitivity. Both upward and downward adjustments can occur in the direction of management performance adjustment according to the manager's reporting earnings strategy. was found to decrease performance-based performance-reward sensitivity. The underreporting strategy is hypothesized that, although additional compensation is paid for the performance of the reporting strategy according to the manager's ability, the level of compensation increases, but this type of compensation will decrease the performance-reward sensitivity because this type of compensation is irrelevant to the actual performance of the manager. This is the result of indirectly confirming that discriminatory compensation is provided for upward and downward adjustment of business performance according to the reporting earnings strategy.

  • Crowdfunding is a novel method for funding from many individuals using web based platform often in return for products or equity. It allows individual entrepreneurs to create diverse products and services. This thesis elaborates a theoretical foundation for identifying the factors that must have motivated the funders in sponsoring crowdfunding projects. Based on the motivation theory, the proposed research model is constructed with intrinsic and extrinsic motivations from relevant literatures. We also examined how different crowdfunding modes ('Keeping It All' and 'All or Nothing') moderate the proposed research model. Based on the survey from various crowdfunding service providers in Korea, this empirical study found that continuous participation in crowdfunding is positively correlated with factors such as enjoyment, familiarity, agency credibility and reward, while peer-influence shows negative correlation. Furthermore, moderating effects of funding modes significantly affect continuous participation. These empirical results contribute insights on the emerging phenomenon of crowdfunding from funders' perspectives and shed lights more on the ways that the actions of platform providers may affect their ability to receive entrepreneurial financing.

  • A reliability of software is a type of nonfunctional requirement. Traditionally, a validation of the reliability is processed at the integration phase in software development life cycle. However, it increases the cost and the risk for the development. In this paper, we propose reliability analysis method based on mathematical analytic model at the architecture design phase of the development process as follows. First, we propose the software modeling methodology for reliability analysis using Hierarchical combined Queueing Petri Nets(HQPN). Second, we derive the Markov Reward Model from the HQPN based model. We apply our approach to the video conference system to verify the usefulness of our approach. Our approach supports quantitative evaluation of the reliability.

  • Purpose Facebook is a social network service that has the highest number of Monthly Active Users around the world. Hence, marketers have selected Facebook as the most important platform to get customer engagement. With respect to the customer engagement enhancement, the most popular and engaging post type in the Facebook brand fan pages related to what was usually classified as 'sweepstakes'. Sweepstakes refer to a form of gambling where the entire prize may be awarded to the winner. Which makes customers more engaged with the brand. This study aims to explore sweepstakes-oriented social media marketing approaches based on the application of big data analytics. Design/methodology/approach we collect sweepstakes data from each company based on the data crawling from the Facebook brand fan pages. The output of this study explains how companies in each category of FCB grid can design and apply sweepstakes for their social media marketing. Findings The results show that they have one thing in common across the four quadrants of FCB grid. Regardless of the quadrants, most frequently observed type is 'Simple/Quiz or Comments/Quatrains [event type of sweepstakes] + Gifticon [type of reward prize] + Image [type of message display] + No URL [Link toother website] +Single-Gift-Offer [type of reward prize payment]'. So, if the position of the brand is hard to be defined by the FCB grid model, then this general rule can be applied to all types of brands. Also some differences between the quadrants of the FCB grid were observed. This study offers several research implications by analyzing Sweepstakes-oriented social media marketing approaches in Facebook brand fan pages. By using the FCB grid model, this study provides guidance on how companies can design their sweepstakes-oriented social media marketing approaches in the context of Facebook brand fan pages by considering their context.
