Recently, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)-derived orthometric height determination has been studied to improve the time and cost-effectiveness of traditional leveling surveying. However, the accuracy of this new survey method was evaluated when unknown points are located lower than control points. In this study, the accuracy of GNSS-derived orthometric height was examined using TPs (Triangulation Points) to verify the stability of surveying in mountainous areas. The GNSS survey data were obtained from Mungyeong, Unbong/Hadong, Uljin, and Jangseong. Three unknown points were surrounded by more than three UCPs (Unified Control Points) or BMs (Benchmarks) following the guideline for applying GNSS-derived orthometric height determination. A newly developed national geoid model, KNGeoid17 (Korean National Geoid 2017), has been applied for determining the orthometric height. In comparison with the official orthometric heights of the TPs, the heights of the unknown points in Mungyeong and Unbong/Hadong differ by more than 20 cm. On the other hand, TPs in Uljin and Jangseong show 15-16 cm of local bias with respect to the official products. Since the precision of official orthometric heights of TPs is known to be about 10 cm, these errors exceed the limit of the precision. Therefore, the official products should be checked to offer more reliable results to surveyors. As an alternative method of verifying accuracy, three different GNSS post-processing software were applied, and the results from each software were compared. The results showed that the differences in the whole test areas did not exceed 5 cm. Therefore, it was concluded that the precision of the GNSS-derived orthometric height was less than 5 cm, even though the unknown points were higher than the control points.

Recently the importance of BIM (Building Information Modeling) that enables 3D location-based design and construction work is being highlighted around the world. In Korea, the road map has been established to settle the design based on BIM using drone survey results by 2025. As the first step, BIM would be applied to road construction projects worth more than 50 billion Korean Won from 2020. On the other hand, drone survey regulation has been enacted and the data for drone survey cost were also included on Standard of construction estimate in 2020. However, more careful improvement is required to reflect drone survey results in BIM design and construction. Currently, Engineering instructions and Standard of construction estimate specifies that earthwork volume must be calculated by cross section method only. So it is required to add the method of DEM (Digital Elevation Model) based volume calculation on these regulations to realize BIM application. In order for that, this study verified the method of DEM based earthwork volume calculation. To get an accurate DEM for accurate volume computation, drone survey was carried out according to the drone survey regulation and then could get an accurate DEM data which have errors less than 3cm in X, Y and 6.8cm in H. As each DEM cell has 3D coordinate component, the volume of each cell can be calculated by obtaining the height of area of the cell then total volume is calculated by multiplying total number of cells by volume of each cell for the construction area. Verification for the new calculation method compare with existing method was carried out. The difference between DEM based volume by drone survey and cross section based volume by traditional survey was less than 1.33% and it can be seen that new DEM method will be able to be applied to BIM design and construction instead of cross section method.

For service-area-widening and commercialization of DGNSS service, Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs is developing a DGNSS service based on VRS using T-DMB. In this study, three PRC generation algorithms are developed for VRS DGNSS and their accuracies were evaluated. Three DGNSS correction generation algorithms are based on inverse distance weighting, 1st- and 2nd- multiple linear regression, and their positioning accuracies were compared in terms of the number of reference stations used for network composition and the algorithm type. As a result, the positioning accuracy of the case of using 16 sites is better than that of 6 sites. And the algorithm using the multiple linear regression showed the best performance. When the positioning accuracy of VRS DGNSS was compared with the traditional single-reference DGNSS, the improvement ratio was 20-23% and 20-36% for the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively.

The vegetation such as grass, shrub, tree has been used to control the erosion and stabilize the slope for a long time. But the effects of vegetation on slope area is usually neglected in traditional stability analyses. There are many errors in slope analyses in thin soil mantles. Therefore the effects of vegetation is an important factor. But it is difficult and complex to represent the vegetation influence quantitatively in stability analysis. In this study, authors choose the landslide region at the Kum sung dong Kum-jung ku Pusan as a model area. Authors analyzed the degree of slope with the aerial photo interpretation and DTM data extracted from the topographic map, and the relationship of D.B.H. (diameter of breast height), height, and age of tree in field investigation data. Finally authors know the fact that landslide take place approximately 10 or 20 years later in arbitrary afforestable area where the degree of slope is 27. The prevention effect must be considered in the control of vegetation.

Rapid advances in technology and changes in human and cultural activities bring about changes to the earth surface in terms of spatial extension as well as time frame of the changes. Such advances introduce shorter updating frequency of maps and geospatial database. To satisfy these requirements, recent research efforts in the geoinformatics field have been focused on the automation and speeding up of the mapping processes which resulted in products such as the digital photogrammetric workstation, GPSIINS, applications of satellite imagery, automatic feature extraction and the LiDAR system. The possibility of automatically extracting buildings and generating contours from airborne LiDAR data has received much attention because LiDAR data produce promising results. However, compared with the manually derived building footprints using traditional photogrammetric process, more investigation and analysis need to be carried out in terms of accuracy and efficiency. On the other hand, generation of the contours with LiDAR data is more efficient and economical in terms of the quality and accuracy. In this study, the effects of various conditions of the pre-processing phase and the subsequent building extraction and contour generation phases for digital mapping have on the accuracy were investigated.
Applicability of Land-based MMS(Mobile Mapping System) having been increased gradually as digitalization of administrative operation and construction of integrated systems of the government and provincial government are growing up. As these requirements, the case can be occurred that the facilities should be surveyed rapidly in the specific area. At this case, the real time field processing method is more necessary than the post processing method and data processing speed should be an essential element as important as accuracy. In this study, the two space intersection methods used in photogrammetry were programmed and compared with each other to select more proper method for the three dimensional positioning in the field processing. Especially, at the analytic space intersection, the traditional close range terrestrial photogrammetry was modified and applied to that to adapt to MMS's characteristics that camera position and attitude are changed according to the vehicle movement. As a result, the difference of the accuracy between two methods is not significant but at the calculation time, the analytic space intersection is faster three times than the space intersection using collinearity condition.

There has been a strong demand for low altitude UAV development in rapid mapping not only to acquire high resolution image with much more low cost and weather independent, compared to satellite surveying or traditional aerial surveying, but also to meet many needs of the aerial photogrammetry. Especially, efficient geocoding of UAV imagery is the key issue. Contrary to high UAV potential for civilian applications, the technology development in photogrammetry for example direct georeferencing is in the early stage and it requires further research and additional technical development. In this study, two approaches are supposed for automatic geocoding of UAV still images by simple affine transformation and block adjustment of affine transformation using minimal ground control points and also evaluated the applicability and quality of geometric model compared to geocoded images generated by commercial S/W.

The complicated facilities on the ground have begun to be laid under the ground as increasing emphasis on the beauty of cities due to centralization. But, as the kind of the facilities have been concentrated on the narrow area, accidents occur due to the difficulty of maintenance and the inaccuracy of location information. In this study, first we constructed the field test model to compare with the method of underground probing. So, we could know that the electromagnetic induction method and GPR(Ground Penetration Radar) are useful. It was acquired the position information for the underground facilities using a RTK-GPS. As the result, we have analyzed the accurate position of the underground facility and show the way improving accuracy in detecting and surveying comparing with the traditional surveying method. Also, we hope to contribute the effective maintenance and prevention of disasters to the underground facility as using underground facilities 3D position with Arcview and building the DB of exact depth and underground facilities information system.

In hydrology analysis, the result of a slope analysis for terrain have an very important effect on water quality and water quantity Recently, a slope analysis tend to use the digital elevation model rater than the traditional map sheet. But a terrain slope analysis by the digital elevation model depends on grid size of the digital elevation model. Hence the effect of a slope analysis by the digital elevation model is a important factor. In this study, therefor, in order to determine a hydrological parameter and a terrain parameter for simulation of the water quality and the hydrological property, we adapted two sample area that are the Nerin stream of the basin of the Soyang lake and a Osip stream of Samchuk, and its individual coverages are $640\;km^2$ and $33\;km^2$. Also to analyze the effect of grid size in the slope of a basin, we apply DEM changing a grid size respectively at intervals of 100 m from 100 m to 1.000m for the Nerin stream basin and at intervals of 10 m from 20 m to 300 m for the Osip stream basin.

The Organizations working with technological projects will be more and more common to connect consultants. Those who shall carry out the pre-analysis of the projects ought to have a professional knowledge to the area about economical methods with information technology and changed technology of surveying and mapping. New surveying and mapping methods, such as TotalStation, GPS, orthophoto, digital map, and satellite remote sensing, have totally changed the old concept of surveying. Also the technology for the new mapping has greatly changed from analog to analytical to digital during the past 50 years. Now, the proper choice of surveying and mapping methods becomes a decision on cost and efficiency rather than the use of a particular technology. As an example, GPS equipment dose cost considerably more than traditional surveying equipment, but the advantages it provides make it very cost-effective. In this study, the cost and benefit factors of the surveying and mapping projects are evaluated independently and benefit/cost ratio(B/C ratio) is used in benefit-cost evaluation of the different surveying methods. The benefit-cost model of surveying and mapping methods will produce economical result in the whole projects.
