  • Any Hausdoroff space on a set which has at least two points a regular closed Boolean algebra different from the indiscrete regular closed Boolean algebra as indiscrete space. The Sierpinski space and the space with finite complement topology on any infinite set etc. do the same. However, there is $T_{0}$ space which does the same with Hausdorpff space as above. The regular closed Boolean algebra in a topological space is isomorphic to that algebra in the space with its open extension topology.

  • In this paper we introduce a new definition of a lattice fuzzy topology which is a generalization of Lowen's fuzzy topology and show that the category of Lowen's fuzzy topological spaces is a bireflective full subcategory of the category of lattice fuzzy topological spaces.

  • Let $C(X)(C_{K}(X))$ denote the hyperspace of all nonempty closed connected subsets (subcontinua) of a locally compact Haus-dorff space X with the Fell topology. We prove that the following statements are equivalent: (1) X is locally connected. (2) C(X) is locally connected,. (3) C(X) is locally connected at each $E{\in}C_{k}(X).(4) C_{k}(X)$ is locally connected.

  • The nonlinear transient characteristic of single-phase induction motor for rotary compressor is analysed by using FLUX2D. And the topology optimization is investigated and the TOPEM (Topology Optimization for Electromagnetic Systems) is developed using the finite element method (FEM). The proposed method is validated by applying it to the topology optimizations of single-phase induction motor for reducing the oil circulation rate (OCR).

  • A parallelized topology design optimization method is developed on a distributed memory system. The parallelization is based on a domain decomposition method and a boundary communication scheme. For the finite element analysis of structural responses and design sensitivities, the PCG method based on a Krylov iterative scheme is employed. Also a parallelized optimization method of optimality criteria is used to solve large-scale topology optimization problems. Through several numerical examples, the developed method shows efficient and acceptable topology optimization results for the large-scale problems.

  • Topology optimization of a concrete structure is discussed using an Evolutionary Structural Optimization(ESO) method introduced by Xie and Steven. During the evolution process low stressed materials are progressively removed from the structure. This paper discussed a proper rejection criterion(RC) to get a more reasonable topology of concrete structure. Some examples are presented to illustrate the optimum topology achieved by such a procedure.

  • This paper describes a new modeling method for the prediction of transmembrane protein topology. The structural regions of the transmembrane protein have been modeled by means of a multiple state hidden Markov model that has provided for the detailed modeling of the heterogeneous amino acid distributions of each structural region. Grammatical constraints have been incorporated to the prediction method in order to capture the biological order of membrane protein topology. The proposed method correctly predicted 76% of all membrane spanning regions and 92% sidedness of the integration when all membrane spanning regions were found correctly.

  • A topology optimization technique to develop extremely light trailer frame structure is performed due to the strong needs of the customers and makers owing to high level of oil price. First, the overall layout of the frame is derived using topology optimization and then, final specification is also derived utilizing DOE optimization technique for mass product.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new artificial material model for topology optimization. The present material model, named S-shape material model, accelerates topology optimization process especially in mathematical programming. We overcome the instability and the flatness in heuristic optimization process. Numerical examples show the superiority of the proposed material.
