In this study, we developed a genetic algorithm to find a near optimal solution of concurrent spare parts selection for the operational time period with limited information of weapon systems purchased from overseas. Through the analysis of time profiles related with system operations, we first define the optimization goal which maintains the expected system operating rate under the budget restrictions, and the number of failures and the lead time for each spare part are used to calculate the estimated total down time of the system. The genetic algorithm for CSP selection shows that the objective function minimizes the estimated total down time of systems with satisfying the restrictions. The method provided by this study can be applied to the generalized model of CSP selection for the systems purchased from overseas without provision of their full structure and adequate information.

The printed circuit board (PCB) can be used only 2 layers of front and back. Therefore, the wiring line segments are located in 2 layers without crossing each other. In this case, the line segment can be appear in both layers and this line segment is to resolve the crossing problem go through the via. The via minimization problem (VMP) has minimum number of via in layout design problem. The VMP is classified by NP-complete because of the polynomial time algorithm to solve the optimal solution has been unknown yet. This paper suggests polynomial time algorithm that can be solve the optimal solution of VMP. This algorithm transforms n-line segments into vertices, and p-crossing into edges of a graph. Then this graph is partitioned into 3-coloring sets of each vertex in each set independent each other. For 3-coloring sets $C_i$, (i=1,2,3), the $C_1$ is assigned to front F, $C_2$ is back B, and $C_3$ is B-F and connected with via. For the various experimental data, though this algorithm can be require O(np) polynomial time, we obtain the optimal solution for all of data.
In this paper we Study a time-optimal model of pursuit in which the players move on a plane with bounded velocities. This game is supposed to be a nonzero-sum group pursuit game. The main point of the work is to construct and compare cooperative and non-cooperative solutions in the game and make a conclusion about cooperation possibility in differential pursuit games. We consider all possible cooperations of the players in the game. For that purpose for every game $\Gamma(x_0,y_0,z_0)$ we construct the corresponding game in characteristic function form $\Gamma_v(x_0,y_0,z_0)$. We show that in this game there exists the nonempty core for any initial positions of the players. The core can take four various forms depending on initial positions of the players. We study how the core changes when the game is proceeding. For the original agreement (an imputation from the original core) to remain in force at each current instant t it is necessary for the core to be time-consistent. Nonemptiness of the core in any current subgame constructing along a cooperative trajectory and its time-consistency are shown. Finally, we discuss advantages and disadvantages of choosing this or that imputation from the core.

In solving multi-level knapsack problems, conventional heuristic approaches often assume a short-sighted plan within a static decision enviornment to find a near optimal solution. These conventional approaches are inflexible, and lack the ability to adapt to different problem structures. This research approaches the problem from a totally different viewpoint, and a new method is designed and implemented. This method performs intelligent actions based on memories of historic data and learning. These actions are developed not only by observing the attributes of the optimal solution, the solution space, and its corresponding path to the optimal solution, but also by applying human intelligence, experience, and intuition with respect to the search strategies. The method intensifies, or diversifies the search process appropriately in time and space. In order to create a good neighborhood structure, this method uses two powerful choice rules that emphasize the impact of candidate variables on the current solution with respect to their profit contribution. A side effect of so-called "pseudo moves", similar to "aspirations", supports these choice rules during the evaluation process. For the purpose of visiting as many relevant points as possible, strategic oscillation between feasible and infeasible solutions around the boundary is applied for intensification. To avoid redundant moves, short-term (tabu-lists), intermediate-term (cycle detection), and long-term (recording frequency and significant solutions for diversification) memories are used. Test results show that among the 45 generated problems (these problems pose significant or insurmountable challenges to exact methods) the approach produces the optimal solutions in 39 cases.lutions in 39 cases.

Motion planning problem is still one of the important issues in robotic applications. In many real-time motion planning problems, it is advisable to find a feasible solution quickly and improve the found solution toward the optimal one before the previously-arranged motion plan ends. For such reasons, sampling-based approaches are becoming popular for real-time application. Especially the use of a rapidly exploring random $tree^*$ ($RRT^*$) algorithm is attractive in real-time application, because it is possible to approach an optimal solution by iterating itself. This paper presents a modified version of informed $RRT^*$ which is an extended version of $RRT^*$ to increase the rate of convergence to optimal solution by improving the sampling method of $RRT^*$. In online motion planning, the robot plans a path while simultaneously moving along the planned path. Therefore, the part of the path near the robot is less likely to be sampled extensively. For a better solution in online motion planning, we modified the sampling method of informed $RRT^*$ by combining with the sampling method to improve the path nearby robot. With comparison among basic $RRT^*$, informed $RRT^*$ and the proposed $RRT^*$ in online motion planning, the proposed $RRT^*$ showed the best result by representing the closest solution to optimum.
This study aims to optimize the DL-EPR test solution for duplex stainless steel S31083 using the Taguchi design. The test solution parameters applied to the Taguchi design are H2SO4, NaCl, KSCN concentration, and temperature. In the experimental design, an orthogonal array of 4 levels 4 factor L16(44) was used. Output values for the orthogonal array were used for resolution (degree of sensitization) and selective etch (Ia) values. The optimal test solution conditions were selected by comparing the normalized S/N ratio for the two reaction properties. As a result, the H2SO4 and NaCl were identified as the main factors influencing the sensitivity measurement, but the delta statistics showed that the KSCN concentration and temperature had relatively low influence. The optimal condition was identified as 1.5 M H2SO4+0.03 M KSCN+1.5M NaCl at 30 ℃. The degree of sensitization presented a tendency to depend on the heat treatment temperature and time in the optimal test solution. This investigation confirmed the possibility of optimizing the experiment solution for the DL-EPR test of stainless steel using the Taguchi technique.

This paper deals with the time optimal control problem for the retarded semilinear system by using the construction of fundamental solution in case where the principal operators are unbounded operators.
In this paper, we consider a delay differential equation model of two competing species with harvesting of the mature and immature members of each species. The time delay in the model represents the time from birth to maturity of that species, which appears in the adults recruitment terms. We study the dynamics of our model analytically and we present results on positivity and boundedness of the solution, conditions for the existence and globally asymptotically stable of equilibria, a threshold of harvesting, and the optimal harvesting of the mature populations of each species.

This objective of this paper is to develop an efficient method with small memory requirement for a feed-mixing problem on a micro computer. First this method uses the decomposition principle to reduce the memory requirement. Next, the decomposition principle is modified to fit the problem. Further four different variations in solving subproblems are designed in order to improve efficiency of the principle. According to the test with respect to the processing time, the best variation is such that the dual simplex method is used, and the optimal basis of a previous subproblem is used as an initial basis, and the master problem is (M +1) dimensional. In general, the convergence of solution becomes slower near the optimal value. This paper introduces a termination criterion for a sufficiently good solution. According to the test, 5%-tolerence is acceptable with respect to the relation between the processing time and optimal value.
As energy harvesting communication systems emerge, there is a need for transmission schemes that dynamically adapt to the energy harvesting process. In this paper, after exhibiting a finite-horizon online throughput-maximizing scheduling problem formulation and the structure of its optimal solution within a dynamic programming formulation, a low complexity online scheduling policy is proposed. The policy exploits the existence of thresholds for choosing rate and power levels as a function of stored energy, harvest state and time until the end of the horizon. The policy, which is based on computing an expected threshold, performs close to optimal on a wide range of example energy harvest patterns. Moreover, it achieves higher throughput values for a given delay, than throughput-optimal online policies developed based on infinite-horizon formulations in recent literature. The solution is extended to include ergodic time-varying (fading) channels, and a corresponding low complexity policy is proposed and evaluated for this case as well.
