Embankments on soft ground experience significant deformation during time-dependent consolidation settlement, as well as an initial undrained settlement. Since infinitesimal strain theory assumes no configuration change and minute strain during deformation, finite strain analysis is required for better prediction of geotechnical problems involving large strain and geometric change induced by imposed loadings. Updated Lagrangian formulation is developed for time-dependent consolidation combining both force equilibrium and mass conservation of fluid, and mechanical constitutive equation is written in Janumann stress rate. Numerical convergence during Newton's iteration in large deformation analysis is improved by Nagtegaal's approach of considering the effect of rotation in mechanical constitutive relationship. Numerical simulations are conducted to discuss numerical reliability and applicability of developed numerical code: deformation of cantilever beam, two-dimensional consolidation. The numerical results show that developed formulation can efficiently describe large deformation problems. Proposed formulation is expected to facilitate the upgrading of a numerical code based on infinitesimal strain theory to that based on finite strain analysis.

Recently, Optical BJTC as a new approach for real-time multi-target tracking has been intensively studied. But the conventional system has some problems in the practical applications such as the false alarm and target missing and low correlation efficiency, and these poor performances are analyzed to be deeply dependent on the binarization method. So, in this paper, a new BJTC system which has the improved performances in target discrimination and diffraction efficiency is suggested, which is based on the JTPS having the same properties with those of the matched filter and new power spectrum binarization method to use effectively the high frequency components of the JTPS signal. Through the computer simulation and some experiments, the performances of the new BJTC tracking system are analyzed and proved to be superior to those of the conventional system baseds on Median method in multi- target tracking problems.

The present work extends the recent variational formulation to more general time-dependent problems. Thus, based upon recent works of variational formulation in dynamics and pure heat diffusion in the context of the extended framework of Hamilton's principle, formulation for fully coupled thermoelasticity is developed first, then, with thermoelasticity-poroelasticity analogy, poroelasticity formulation is provided. For each case, energy conservation and energy dissipation properties are discussed in Fourier transform domain.
Problems involved in the numerical analysis on the forced oscillation of nonlinear oscillators such a microbubble oscillation under ultrasound and Duffing oscillator were discussed. One of the problems is proper choice of the time scale of the driving force. which is related to the numerical artifacts due to the mismatch between the natural frequency of an oscillator(or bubble) and the characteristic frequency of the applied force. Such problem may occur in a nonlinear oscillator whose behavior is crucially dependent on the frequency of the applied force. The artificial resonance problem during the numerical evaluation of such nonlinear systems was also discussed.

Photovoltaic energy and wind energy are highly dependent on the season, time and extremely intermittent energy sources. Because of these reasons, in view of the reliability the photovoltaic and the wind power generation system have many problems(energy conversion, energy storage, load control etc.) comparing with conventional power plant. In order to solve these existing problems, hybrid generation system composed of photovoltaic(500W) and wind power system(400W) was suggested But, hybrid generation system cannot always generate stable output due to the varying weather condition So, the auxiliary power compensation unit that uses elastic energy of spiral spring was added to hybrid generation system for the present study. It was partly confirmed that hybrid generation system was generated a stable outputs by spiral spring was continuously provided to load.
Recently, an analysis method using machine learning for solving problems in coastal and ocean engineering has been highlighted. Machine learning models are effective modeling tools for predicting specific parameters by learning complex relationships based on a specified dataset. In coastal and ocean engineering, various studies have been conducted to predict dependent variables such as wave parameters, tides, storm surges, design parameters, and shoreline fluctuations. Herein, we introduce and describe the application trend of machine learning models in coastal and ocean engineering. Based on the results of various studies, machine learning models are an effective alternative to approaches involving data requirements, time-consuming fluid dynamics, and numerical models. In addition, machine learning can be successfully applied for solving various problems in coastal and ocean engineering. However, to achieve accurate predictions, model development should be conducted in addition to data preprocessing and cost calculation. Furthermore, applicability to various systems and quantifiable evaluations of uncertainty should be considered.
This paper tries to estimate Korea's import demand function for fisheries using cointegration analysis. The estimation function consists of one dependent variable-import quantity of fisheries(FTIW) and two independent variables-relative price(RP) between importable and domestic products and real income(GDP). As it has been empirically found out that almost all of time series of macro-variables such as GDP, price index are nonstationary, existing studies which ignore this fact need to be reexamined. Conventional econometric method can not analyze nonstationary time series in level. To perform the analysis, time series should be differenciated until stationarity is guaranteed. Unfortunately, the difference method removes the long run element of data, and so leads to difficulties of interpretation. But according to new developed econometric theory, cointegration approach could solve these problems. Therefore this paper proceeds the estimation on the basis of cointegration analysis, because the quartly variables from 1988 to 1997 used in the model is found out to be nonstationary. The estimation results show that all of the variables are statistically significant. Therefore Korea's import demand for fisheries has been strongly affected by the variation of real income and the relative price.
Disentangling is the essential operation of Feynman's operational calculus for noncommuting operators. Thus formulas which simplify this operation are central to the subject. In a recent paper the procedure for 'extracting a linear factor' has been established in the setting of Feynman's operational calculus for time independent operators $A_1, ... , A_n$ and associated probability measures ${\mu}_1,..., {\mu}_n$. While the setting just described is natural in many circumstances, it is not natural for evolution problems. There the measures should not be restricted to probability measures and it is worthwhile to allow the operators to depend on time. The main purpose for this paper is to extend the procedure for extracting a linear factor to this latter setting. We should mention that Feynman's primary motivation for developing an operational calculus for noncommuting operators came from a desire to describe the evolution of certain quantum systems.m systems.
In this paper, reliability software model considering fault detection rate based on observations from the process of software product testing was studied. Adding new fault probability using the S-shaped distribution model that is widely used in the field of reliability problems presented. When correcting or modifying the software, finite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process model was used. In a software failure data analysis considering the time-dependent fault detection rate, the parameters estimation using maximum likelihood estimation of failure time data and reliability make out.
Time effect on the deformation and strength characteristics of geogrid reinforced sand retaining wall has become an important issue in geotechnical and transportation engineering. Three physical model tests on geogrid reinforced sand retaining walls performed under various loading conditions were simulated to study their rate-dependent behaviors, using the presented nonlinear finite element method (FEM) analysis procedure. This FEM was based on the dynamic relaxation method and return mapping scheme, in which the combined effects of the rate-dependent behaviors of both the backfill soil and the geosynthetic reinforcement have been included. The rate-dependent behaviors of sands and geogrids should be attributed to the viscous property of materials, which can be described by the unified three-component elasto-viscoplastic constitutive model. By comparing the FEM simulations and the test results, it can be found that the present FEM was able to be successfully extended to the boundary value problems of geosynthetic reinforced soil retaining walls. The deformation and strength characteristics of the geogrid reinforced sand retaining walls can be well reproduced. Loading rate effect, the trends of jump in footing pressure upon the step-changes in the loading rate, occurred not only on sands and geogrids but also on geogrid reinforced sands retaining walls. The lateral earth pressure distributions against the back of retaining wall, the local tensile force in the geogrid arranged in the retaining wall and the local stresses beneath the footing under various loading conditions can also be predicted well in the FEM simulations.
