As pyrite is commonly associated with arsenopyrite, the use of pyrite including arsenopyrite for medicine requires close attention on arsenic toxicity. The toxicity was reduced by traditional processing operations include heating and quenching in vinegar. To verify the scientific effects of this process, pyrite containing many crystals of arsenopyrite was processed at temperatures from 45$0^{\circ}C$ to 85$0^{\circ}C$ and through as many as 5 processing cycles. Arsenopyrite completely disappeared when processed only once at $650^{\circ}C$ while it remained even after 5 processing cycles at 45$0^{\circ}C$. Arsenic was most abundant in medicinal mineral samples processed at 45$0^{\circ}C$ and sharply decreased when processed at $650^{\circ}C$ or 85$0^{\circ}C$ And arsenic extraction test in water was carried out from the processed pyrite medicine on the assumption that pyrite medicines with the lowest As metal content would be most desirable. Arsenic were most abundant in water extracted from medicinal mineral samples processed at 45$0^{\circ}C$ and sharply decreased when processed at $650^{\circ}C$ or 85$0^{\circ}C$. But the extracted As concentrations in water exceeded drinking water standards even when processed at 85$0^{\circ}C$. Increasing temperature promoted elimination of arsenopyrite and reduction of As in medicinal minerals and the extraction solutions. But the effects of processing cycles at the same processing temperature were not clear. Heating temperature is more important than number of processing cycles for the removal of arsenic, and it is necessary to heat pyrite to over $650^{\circ}C$ to remove it.

Energy supply is increasingly showing up as a major issue for electricity supply, transportation, settlement, and process heat industrial supply including hydrogen production. Nuclear power is part of the solution. For electricity supply, as exemplified in Finland and France, the EPR brings an immediate answer; HTR could bring another solution in some specific cases. For other supply, mostly heat, the HTR brings a solution inaccessible to conventional nuclear power plants for very high or even high temperature. As fossil fuels costs increase and efforts to avoid generation of Greenhouse gases are implemented, a market for nuclear generated process heat will be developed. Following active developments in the 80's, HTR have been put on the back burner up to 5 years ago. Light water reactors are widely dominating the nuclear production field today. However, interest in the HTR technology was renewed in the past few years. Several commercial projects are actively promoted, most of them aiming at electricity production. ANTARES is today AREVA's response to the cogeneration market. It distinguishes itself from other concepts with its indirect cycle design powering a combined cycle power plant. Several reasons support this design choice, one of the most important of which is the design flexibility to adapt readily to combined heat and power applications. From the start, AREVA made the choice of such flexibility with the belief that the HTR market is not so much in competition with LWR in the sole electricity market but in the specific added value market of cogeneration and process heat. In view of the volatility of the costs of fossil fuels, AREVA's choice brings to the large industrial heat applications the fuel cost predictability of nuclear fuel with the efficiency of a high temperature heat source tree of Greenhouse gases emissions. The ANTARES module produces 600 MWth which can be split into the required process heat, the remaining power drives an adapted prorated electric plant. Depending on the process heat temperature and power needs, up to 80% of the nuclear heat is converted into useful power. An important feature of the design is the standardization of the heat source, as independent as possible of the process heat application. This should expedite licensing. The essential conditions for success include: ${\bullet}$ Timely adapted licensing process and regulations, codes and standards for such application and design ${\bullet}$ An industry oriented R&D program to meet the technological challenges making the best use of the international collaboration. Gen IV could be the vector ${\bullet}$ Identification of an end user(or a consortium of) willing to fund a FOAK

In this study, in order to evaluate Hydration Heat Characteristics of mass concrete using ternary blended cement for large underground structures, the analysis considering the temperature history and the thermal characteristics inside the actual structure was performed. The results of the analysis are compared with the measured values to verify the reliability of the analysis and to evaluate the crack resistance performance. As a result of the measured the actual structure temperature, The adiabatic temperature rise coefficients K and ${\alpha}$ of the slab were $35.1^{\circ}C$ and 0.72, respectively, and the wall was analyzed as $29.3^{\circ}C$ and 0.67. The analytical results and the correlation coefficients(r) were 0.95 and 0.98, respectively. As a result of evaluating the crack resistance of slab and wall, the minimum crack index of slab and wall was 1.22 and 1.20, respectively. These results were found to satisfy the site management standards.
This study was conducted to investigate the quality changes of the UHT(ultra-high temperature), LTLT(law temperature long time) and HTST(high temperature short time) treated milk samples by storage conditions for 6 months from August 2000 to February 2001. The UHT treated milk samples collected from 3 plants(A, B and C) were stored at l0$^{\circ}$C and room temperature(dark and light exposure) for 6 months, and the LTLT and HTST treated milk samples(D and E) were also stored for 30 days. The UHT pasteurized milk of A, B and C plant was treated at 130$^{\circ}$C for 2-3s, 133$^{\circ}$C for 2-3s and 135$^{\circ}$C for 4s, respectively. The UHT sterilized milk of A and B plant was treated at 140$^{\circ}$C for 2-3s and 145$^{\circ}$C for 3-4s, respectively. The LTLT milk of D plant was treated at 63$^{\circ}$C for 30 mins, and the HTST milk of E plant was treated at 72$^{\circ}$C for 15s. All of the raw milk samples collected from storage tank in 5 milk plants were showed less than 4.0 X 10$^5$cfu/ml in standard plate count, and normal level in acidity, specific gravity, and component of milk. Preservatives, antibiotics, sulfonamides and available chloride were not detected in both raw and heat treated milk samples obtained from 5 plants. One(10%) of 10 UHT pasteurized milk samples obtained from B plant and 2 (20%) of 10 from C were not detected in bacterial count after storage at 37$^{\circ}$C for 14 days, but all of the 10 milk samples from A were detected. No coliforms were detected in all samples tested. No bacteria were also detected in carton, polyethylene and tetra packs collected from the milk plants. A total of 300 UHT pasteurized milk samples collected from 3 plants were stored at room(3$^{\circ}$C ${\sim}$ 30$^{\circ}$C) for 3 and 6 months, 11.3%(34/300) were kept normal in sensory test, and 10.7%(32/300)were negative in bacterial count. The UHT pasteurized milk from A deteriorated faster than the UHT pasteurized milk from B and C. The bacterial counts in the UHT pasteurized milk samples stored at 10$^{\circ}$C were kept less than standard limit(2 ${\times}$ 10$^4$ cfu/ml) of bacteria for 5 days, and bacterial counts in some milk samples were a slightly increased more than the standard limit as time elapsed for 6 months. When the milk samples were stored at room(3$^{\circ}$C ${\sim}$ 30$^{\circ}$C), the bacterial counts in most of the milk samples from A plant were more than the standard limit after 3 days of storage, but in the 20%${\sim}$30%(4${\sim}$6/20) of the milk samples from B and C were less than the standard limit after 6 months of storage. The bacterial counts in the LTLT and HTST pasteurized milk samples were about 4.0 ${\times}$ 10$^3$ and 1.5 ${\times}$ 101CFU/ml at the production day, respectively. The bacterial counts in the samples were rapidly increased to more than 10$^7$ CFU/ml at room temperature(12$^{\circ}$C ${\sim}$ 30$^{\circ}$C) for 3 days, but were kept less than 2 ${\times}$ 10$^3$ CFU/ml at refrigerator(l0$^{\circ}$C) for 7 days of storage. The sensory quality and acidity of pasteurized milk were gradually changed in proportion to bacterial counts during storage at room temperature and 10$^{\circ}$C for 30 days or 6 months. The standard limit of bacteria in whole market milk was more sensitive than those of sensory and chemical test as standards to determine the unaccepted milk. No significant correlation was found in keeping quality of the milk samples between dark and light exposure at room for 30 days or 6 months. The compositions of fat, solids not fat, protein and lactose in milk samples were not significantly changed according to the storage conditions and time for 30 days or 6 months. The UHT sterilized milk samples(A plant ; 20 samples, B plant ; 110 samples) collected from 2 plants were not changed sensory, chemical and microbiological quality by storage conditions for 6 months, but only one sample from B was detected the bacteria after 60 days of storage. The shelflife of UHT pasteurized milk in this study was a little longer than that reported by previous surveys. Although the shelflife of UHT pasteurized milk made a significant difference among three milk plants, the results indicated that some UHT pasteurized milk in polyethylene coated carton pack could be stored at room temperature for 6 months. The LTLT and HTST pasteurized milk should be sanitarily handled, kept and transported under refrigerated condition(below 7$^{\circ}$C) in order to supply wholesome milk to consumers.

For the purpose of reducing the output voltage fluctuation of thin film multijunction thermal converter, EVANOHM alloy-S and chromel-alumel thermocouple were used as a thin film heater material and as a thermoelement of thrmopile, respectively. The temperature coefficient of the resistance of thin film EVANOHM alloy-S heater was about $1.4 {\times} 10^4/^{\circ}C$, which is very small compared to other materials, and thin film chromel-alumel thermocouple showed relatively small difference of the Seebeck coefficients about $38 {\mu}V/K$. The output voltage fluctuation of the thermal converter was about 0.06% for the initial 120 seconds in air and decreased considerably after preheating for 5 minutes or more. The respective AC-DC voltage and current transfer error ranges of the thermal converter were about ${\pm}$1.6 ppm and ${\pm}$0.7 ppm in the frequency range from 10Hz to 10 kHz and increased remarkably below 10 Hz or above 10 kHz.
An infrared thermographic imaging module of [$320{\times}256$] focal-plane array (FPA) based on [InAs/GaSb] strained-layer superlattice (SLS) was fabricated, and its images were demonstrated. The p-i-n device consisted of an active layer (i) of 300-period [13/7]-ML [InAs/GaSb]-SLS and a pair of p/n-electrodes of (60/115)-period [InAs:(Be/Si)/GaSb]-SLS. FTIR photoresponse spectra taken from a test device revealed that the peak wavelength (${\lambda}_p$) and the cutoff wavelength (${\lambda}_{co}$) were approximately $3.1/2.7{\mu}m$ and $3.8{\mu}m$, respectively, and it was confirmed that the device was operated up to a temperature of 180 K. The $30/24-{\mu}m$ design rule was applied to single pixel pitch/mesa, and a standard photolithography was introduced for [$320{\times}256$]-FPA fabrication. An FPA-ROIC thermographic module was accomplished by using a $18/10-{\mu}m$ In-bump/UBM process and a flip-chip bonding technique, and the thermographic image was demonstrated by utilizing a mid-infrared camera and an image processor.
This study analyzed the groundwater quality according to the depth and geological features in Gyeongsangnam-do area using groundwater quality monitoring network data to grasp the groundwater quality characteristics and to provide basic data for policy making on efficient groundwater management. Five hundred and three data sets were acquired from background water quality exclusive monitoring network in soil groundwater information system for five years (2013 ~ 2017). Except for the total coliforms and tracer items such as mercury, phenol, and others, the parameters of water quality were significant or very significant, depending on depth and geological features. As the depth got deeper, the average value of pH and electrical conductivity increased; water temperature, dissolved oxygen, oxide reduction potential, arsenic, total coliforms, and turbidity decreased; and total unfit rate for drinking water standards was lower. It was found that the sum of the positive and negative ions was the highest in the clastic sedimentary rock and the lowest in metamorphic rock. The total unfit rate for drinking water standards was the highest for metamorphic rocks, followed by clastic sedimentary rock and unconsolidated sediments and, finally, intrusive igneous rock with the lowest penetration. The Na-Cl water type, which indicated the possibility of contamination by external pollutants, appeared only at some points in shallow depths and in clastic sedimentary rocks.

This study was conducted to investigate the material properties of stainless steel 316L specimens of untreated and UNSM treated material, hydrogen attacked material(100 bar, $300^{\circ}C$ at 120 h) and UNSM treated hydrogen attacked material at room temperature. Results demonstrated that the hydrogen attacked materials showed a tendency toward a slightly decreased fatigue strength, while the hydrogen embrittlement effect was smaller than the S-N curve of conventional untreated material. As compared to untreated material, the fatigue limit of the UNSM treated material increased by 43.8%, while it was 57.1% higher in the UNSM treated hydrogen attacked material than in untreated hydrogen attacked material. The plastic deformation layer was ${\sim}152{\mu}m$ thick, as confirmed by maps showing the level of local plastic deformation affected by the UNSM treatment in three ways: an image quality map, inverse pole figure map, and kernel average misorientation map captured via electron back scatter diffraction. Owing to hydrogen embrittlement, about 90% of surface cracks were smaller than the average grain size of $35{\mu}m$.
The crystal structure and the microwave dielectric properties of $La(Mg_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$ ceramics have been investigated. $La(Mg_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$ has the 1:1 ordered monoclinic structure with the lattice parameters of $a = 5.5467(3){\AA}, b = 5.5616(3){\AA}, c = 7.8426(5) {\AA} and \beta = 89.9589 (2)^{\circ}$ The spacegroup of LMT is $P2_1/n$. Monoclinic LMT has the inphase and anti-phase tilting of octahedra with the $a^_a^_c^_$ tilting system. Anti-parallel shift of A-site cations was also found in LMT. The relative density of the specimens sintered above $1600^{\circ}C$ was ranged between 95 % and 96 % of the theoretical density and the dielectric constant of specimens was about 28. The highest $Q\timesf$ achieved in this investigation was 63,100 for the specimen sintered at $1630^{\circ}C$ for 5 hr. Temperature coefficient of resonance frequency ranged from $>-74 ppm/^{\circ}C ~ -79 ppm/^{\circ}C$.
Okamoto cavity was modified to generate high power (2.45 GHz, 2 kW) He, N2 and Ar plasmas with WR-340 waveguide. Many factors which influence to the plasma generation were optimized and investigated for the spectroscopic properties of the He plasma generated. Some of the important factors are the diameter of the inner conductor, the distance between the inner and outer conductors and the distance between the tip of the inner conductor and the torch. After optimization for the He, two torches (a commercial mini torch for ICP and a tangential flow torch made locally) were compared and showed similar results for the helium plasma gas flow of 25 L/min~30 L/min. A tall torch (extended) was used to block the air in-flow and reduced the background intensity at 340 nm region (NH band). Emission intensity was measured for determination of halogen element in the aqueous solution with power and carrier gas flow rate. Electron number density and the excitation temperature were on the order of $3.67{\times}10^{11}/cm^3$ and 4,350 K, respectively. These values are similar or a bit smaller than other microwave plasmas. It has been possible to analyze aqueous samples. The detection limit for Cl (479.45 nm) was obtained to be 116 mg/L and needs analytical optimization for the better performance.
