Excitons are the most prominent features of the optical properties of monolayer transition-metal dichalcogenides(TMDC). In view of optoelectronics it is very important to understand the decay mechanisms of the excitons of these materials. Auger recombination of excitons are regarded as one of the dominant decay processes. In this paper the Auger constant of recombination is computed based on the approach proposed by Kavoulakis and Baym. We obtain both temperature dependent (from type A, A' processes) and temperature independent (from type B, B' processes) contributions, and a numerical estimate of theoretical result yields the value of constant in the order of $10^{-2}cm^2s^{-1}$, being consistent with existing experimental data. This implies that Auger decay processes severely limit the photoluminescence yield of TMDC-based optoelectronic devices.
The fluctuation of physical properties in wood or wood composites is an important subject when the materials in building and construction. Sorption and desorption occur in wood when exposed to the open air, and the temperature distribution in wood can fluctuate as a result of changes in environmental temperature, solar radiation, humidity, and wind velocity. In this study, the temperature difference and fluctuation caused by outdoor environment among different wood species were analyzed using a numerical method. The effect on the process of heat transfer in wood caused by environmental factors was investigated using 1-dimensional partial differential equation with real boundary and initial conditions. The experimental data have been used to check the accuracy of programming code. Through analysis, it was found out that density and moisture content have a negative effect on thermal diffusivity of wood.
The size-dependent nonlinear thermomechanical vibration analysis of pre- and post-buckled tapered two-directional functionally graded (2D-FG) microbeams is presented in this study. In the context of the modified couple stress theory, the formulations are derived based on the parabolic shear deformation beam theory and von Karman nonlinear strains. Different thermomechanical material properties are assumed to be temperature-dependent and smoothly vary in both length and thickness directions using the power law and the physical neutral axis concept is employed. The nonlinear governing equations are derived using the Hamilton principle and the resulting variable coefficient equations of motion are solved using the differential quadrature method (DQM) and iterative Newton's method for clamped-clamped and simply supported boundary conditions. Comparison studies are presented to validate the derived model and solution procedure. The impacts of induced thermal moments, temperature power index, two gradient indices, nonuniform cross-section, and microstructure length scale parameter on the frequency-temperature configurations are explored for both clamped and simply supported microbeams.
This paper is concerned with the wave propagation behavior of rotating functionally graded temperature-dependent nanoscale beams subjected to thermal loading based on nonlocal strain gradient stress field. Uniform, linear and nonlinear temperature distributions across the thickness are investigated. Thermo-elastic properties of FG beam change gradually according to the Mori-Tanaka distribution model in the spatial coordinate. The nanobeam is modeled via a higher-order shear deformable refined beam theory which has a trigonometric shear stress function. The governing equations are derived by Hamilton's principle as a function of axial force due to centrifugal stiffening and displacement. By applying an analytical solution and solving an eigenvalue problem, the dispersion relations of rotating FG nanobeam are obtained. Numerical results illustrate that various parameters including temperature change, angular velocity, nonlocality parameter, wave number and gradient index have significant effect on the wave dispersion characteristics of the understudy nanobeam. The outcome of this study can provide beneficial information for the next generation researches and exact design of nano-machines including nanoscale molecular bearings and nanogears, etc.

3D printing technology and its applications have grown rapidly in academia and industry. We consider a 3D printing system designed for the selective laser sintering (SLS) method, which is one of the powder bed fusion (PBF) techniques to build up the final product by layering sintered powder slices. Thermal distortion of printing products is a critical challenge in 3D printing. This study investigates temperature-dependent conformational behaviors of 3D printed samples of sintered poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK) powders using molecular dynamics simulations. The wear and chemical resistance properties of PEEK are understood, as it is a well-known biocompatible material used for implants. However, studies on physical phenomena at nanoscale in PEEK are rarely published in public. We simulate dissipative particle dynamics to elucidate how a cavity regime forms in PEEK at different system temperatures. We demonstrate how PEEK structures deform subject to the system temperature distribution.

In the present study, vibration analysis of double bonded micro sandwich cylindrical shells with saturated porous core and carbon/boron nitride nanotubes (CNT/BNNT) reinforced composite face sheets under multi-physical loadings based on Cooper-Naghdi theory is investigated. The material properties of the micro structure are assumed to be temperature dependent, and each of the micro-tubes is placed on the Pasternak elastic foundations, and mechanical, moisture, thermal, electrical, and magnetic forces are effective on the structural behavior. The distributions of porous materials in three distributions such as non-linear non-symmetric, nonlinear-symmetric, and uniform are considered. The relationship including electro-magneto-hydro-thermo-mechanical loadings based on modified couple stress theory is obtained and moreover the governing equations of motion using the energy method and the Hamilton's principle are derived. Also, Navier's type solution is also used to solve the governing equations of motion. The effects of various parameters such as material length scale parameter, temperature change, various distributions of nanotube, volume fraction of nanotubes, porosity and Skempton coefficients, and geometric parameters on the natural frequency of double bonded micro sandwich cylindrical shells are investigated. Increasing the porosity and the Skempton coefficients of the core in micro sandwich cylindrical shell lead to increase the natural frequency of the structure. Cylindrical shells and porous materials in the industry of filters and separators, heat exchangers and coolers are widely used and are generally accepted today.
Thermal shock test methods and thermal shock parameters for ceramics were reviewed from the following viewpoints: (1) The test methods should be based on the precise estimation of both temperature and thermal stress distributions in a specimen taking into account the temperature-dependent thermo-mechanical properties; (2) The thermal shock parameters must be defined as a physical property of the materials and described as a function of temperature at the fracture point of the specimen; (3) The relation between the strength and fracture toughness of brittle ceramics under a thermal shock load must be the same as the relation under a mechanical load. In addition, appropriate thermal shock parameters should be defined by the thermal shock strength and thermal shock fracture toughness based on stress and energy criteria, respectively. A constant heat flux method is introduced as a testing technique suitable for estimating these thermal shock parameters directly from the electric power charged.
The thermal stability conditions are investigated for superconducting magnet systems cooled conductively by cryocooler without liquid cryogens. The worst scenario in the systems is that the heat generation in the resistive state exceeds the refrigeration. causing a rise in the temperature of the magnet winding and leading to the burnout. It is shown by an analytical solution that in the continuous resistive state, the temperature may increase indefinitely or a stable steady-state may be reached, depending upon the relative size of the magnet with respect to the refrigeration capacity of the cryocooler. The stability criteria include the temperature-dependent Properties of the magnet materials and the refrigeration characteristics of the cryocooler. A useful graphical scheme is Presented and discussed to demonstrate the physical importance of the results.
The goal of this study is to investigate dynamic responses of laminated composite beams under a moving load with thermal effects. The governing equations of problem are derived by using the Lagrange procedure. The transverse-shear strain and rotary inertia are considered within the Timoshenko beam theory. The material properties of laminas are considered as the temperature dependent physical property. The differential equations of the problem are solved by the Ritz method. The solution step of dynamic problem, the Newmark average acceleration method is used in the time history. A compassion study is performed for accuracy of used formulations and method. In the numerical results, the effects of velocity of moving load, temperature values, the fiber orientation angles and the stacking sequence of laminas on the dynamic responses of the composite laminated beam are investigated.
Here we report an optimized hot-injection method and a phase transfer strategy for the synthesis of water-soluble $CuInS_2$ QDs with desired properties. The structure and morphology studies demonstrate that the resulting QDs are $CuInS_2$ tetragonal phase with well-defined facets. It is also found that the crystal size gradually increases with the increase of reaction temperature, while the surface of QDs with pre- and post-phase transfer is functionalized with hydrophobic and hydrophilic ligands, respectively. Spectroscopy measurements reveal the size-dependent optical properties of $CuInS_2$ QDs, demonstrating the quantum confinement effect in this system.
