The music education improves the creative talent, social skills and academic achievement of the students. For the efficient music education, the learner centered study is highly recommended rather than the passive education, which supports self-control in selecting teaching materials, learning patterns and speed. For the successful self learning, it is requested to develop the collaborative educational learning tools, especially electronic collaborators such as H/W and S/W. Though there exist many commercialized electronic instruments and the PC MIDI based softwares, these tools have some limits and problems for the primary student to learn playing the musical instrument by himself. In this paper, we propose a supporting tool implementation method using an electronic keyboard instrument with USB Interface and PC-based software to help the primary student to learn playing the musical instrument. We implemented an electronic keyboard instrument module compactly and at low cost using a PIC18F4550 MCU. PC based software was developed to edit musical score, process the MIDI information, and interact with the electronic keyboard instrument module. This tool can offer a similar keyboard instrument environment and can be incorporated with self learning contents.

If we, as educators, want to put students at the center of learning in science classroom, we must let students express their voices and exercise authority. To do this, we developed a classroom activity about 'Making a pet poster', and then we explored how elementary school students perceived their roles and expressed their authority during this activity. Fourth grade students from an elementary school in the city of Seoul participated in the activity, which was videotaped and recorded. We found that students expressed their epistemic authority differently in small group activities and in whole group discussions. In small group activities, they desired to show their authority as "pet experts" by using and selecting various resources from their everyday lives and transforming those resources into suitable forms in public spaces. Meanwhile, in whole group discussions, participants were classified as either presenters or audience members to verify their authority in regard to the pet poster activity; presenters desired to achieve recognition as "pet experts," and audience members assessed the presenters as "testers." In addition, they expressed authority as teachers by leading the whole group discussions. Based on these findings, this paper suggests the implications for new educational strategies to foster a student-centered learning environment.

This study was aimed to explore the level of awareness of Korean teachers and college students towards sustainable development(SD) and education for sustainable development(ESD). A survey was conducted to understand the present status of awareness of SD and ESD among 317 college students and 625 teachers in Korea from April to May of 2005. The questionnaire included items asking whether they heard about terms such as sustainability or sustainable development, the source of information on SD, the level of understanding or the urgent task for SD in Korea. It also included questions about experiences in participating in or conducting ESD, the need for ESD, important areas in and the modality for ESD and the willingness to participate in ESD. The results showed that the level of awareness on SD among teachers was low compared to college students, who have a relatively high level of access on SD issues through textbooks and classes in high school. Interestingly, most of college students replied that they never received any ESD, even though they learned SD in class. Both the teacher and student group thought that tile priority of sustainable development should be an 'environment-related' area in the social, economical and environmental perspectives. Most of the students and teachers considered the concept of SD as 'pursuing the balance between environmental protection and economic development.' Some of the teachers recognized the concept of sustainable development in the paradigm of continuous economic development. Both groups responded that the urgent task related to sustainable development is 'environmental protection' and the 'reduction of poverty.' On the other hand, they had experiences in teaching related to natural resources, gender equity, health, human rights, climate changes and other SD issues in class, but not under the name of ESD. They also emphasized 'critical thinking and problem solving & decision-making' in education. Most of the students and teachers responded that it was needed to carry out ESD, and that the way of life for SD would be the priority. It is suggested that various pedagogy and modalities according to various target groups should be considered in providing ESD. It is necessary to use more effective strategies for ESD rather than just introducing the concept of SD. Also, it is needed to review the ESD practices of teachers and improve the quality of education within the scope of ESD.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of science experience with their children on mothers who have children who are science gifted children and how they perceive what kind of parenting methods are appropriate for the growth and development of children who are science gifted children. To do this, we interviewed 13 mothers of the gifted education center of the Ministry of Education and conducted two in - depth interviews with them. Results, mothers who have scientific gifted children have various science experiences with children who are scientific gifted. In this process, mothers of gifted children understand the gifted children through science experience with their children, I have come to realize that it is necessary to provide an educational environment that can express my child's talents and help to determine the direction of my career. For this purpose, leadership education that reminds the importance of relationships between people, providing opportunities for various experiences so that they can decide their life, career education through inquiry of deep science experience and meeting with senior scientists, humanities for integrated thinking And the arts. In this way, it is possible to provide in-depth research results to the mothers of the gifted and talented to provide specific directions for the various supportive methods and teaching methods that the gifted children should provide for intellectual and emotional growth and development. Development of educational programs is necessary.
Recently, many advanced countries have used original ICT tools in their educational courses. But Korea didn't have any effective origin ICT tools in our mathematical education, compared with other countries which have developed various tools, for examples, Web-Mathematica and HP Calculator. Although we have the advanced IT environment, the educational environments in mathematics using ICT seems to be not promising. In this paper, we suggest a new mathematics education tools in ICT and the internet environments in Korea, and a teaching and studyingmodel for the teachers, students and classrooms. It is based on the Sage-Math and RPG. Sage-Math which is the software based on the web and RPG(Random Problem Generator) will give a good answer for the future of Korean mathematics ICT education.

In the modern society, the adolescence needs the career development competency which makes them probe changing social phenomenon critically and use the given environment and resources progressively. Thus, adolescence should be offered with the career development competency education, but the education in the school fields remains as school entrance coaching focusing on the academic clique and career coaching as a mere job education. As a result, the study connection between high school and university was destroyed and it caused students' study-unfitness and dropouts after the university entrance. Hence, career education to culture major suitability of high school students in the new paradigm should be developed through high school-university connection. So, this study developed a career education program through the collaboration among the professor of college of human ecology, a home economics specialist, undergraduates majoring in human ecology, and a high school student, using the ADDIE model. The result of this study is as followed. First, this study searched for the direction of the program for the career development competency reinforcement of high school students. Second, the program arranged the newest issues of each department of human ecology to make high school students come in contact with and study them easily, aiming at cultivation of major suitability of high school students. Third, the study established the teaching-learning materials that is managed by the high school-college of human ecology committee. Fourth, this program will be the good opportunity for students who are interested in departments of human ecology to check their major suitability.

This study attempts to extract the necessary criteria as a secondary school home economics teacher through the factor analysis, and to analysis the teacher's and student's perceptions for the requirement criteria of home economics teacher(RCHET) thereof to confirm the necessary criteria as a secondary school home economics teachers. This research was based on the requirement criteria of home economics teacher developed by Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation(KICE) Korean Home Economics Education Association(2008)(KHEEA) collected from secondary, upper secondary school home economics teachers and students in Jeollabuk-do. RCHET encompasses the six areas : (l)'Expert of lesson related to evaluation' (2)'Efficient manager of diverse materials for study', (3)'Student advisor equipped with a teaching sense of duty and sound humanity', (4)'Curriculum expert equipped with a expertise knowledge', (5)'A fair and democratic schoolroom environment promoter'. (6)'Career path counselling expert understanding student's characteristics and environments'. Through the factor analysis, six RCHET factors are more important to teachers than students. According to importance perception for RCHET, home economics teachers' qualification for minor second subject and participation of training program showed similar differences statistically in all RCHET factors. Thus, effort for expertise improvement of teacher had important influence on expertise improvement of teacher. As a result of examining the differences from importance evaluation for RCHET, similar differences from frequence of home project, preference of home economics teacher, manual training and home economics score, interest of home economics showed statistically.
This study is basic research for developing health promotion programs in elementary school and is looking at the effect factor of School nurses perception and school health promotion. This study was conducted with the ACCESS model for school health promotion from WHO. The subjects of this study were 28 elementary school nurses located in the west side of Kung-Nam from the 7th of June to the 30th of June by direct interview. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. the score from obesity, dental caries, health counselling, scoliosis, hepatitis B, immunization BCG items are higher in the low grade but showed significant difference in visual disturbance items. 2. the average score of school health promotion perception is 5.04. The list of school health promotion is composed of school health policies(5.39), physical environments (5.38), school health services(5.34), social environments (5.22), personal health skills (4.92), and community relationships(4.64). 3. after an analysis of the perception of school health promotion from school nurses, the relationship between the school health budget and the school health policy and school health service was shown to be significant. 4. after analysis of the effect factor of perception of school health promotion from school nurses, school health policy, school social environment, personal health skills, and school health service were shown to be significant. 5. The factors in school health promotion are the number of classes and students, school budgets, school nurses' final education and age, health education classes per week, and teaching experience. Particularly the school health budget and school nurses of the classes per week are statistically significant. The suggestions of this study are as follows: 1, as a related factor of school health promotion. the generally characteristics of schools and school nurses should be considered for improving the perception of school health promotion. 2, the period of health education for effective school health management and health education should be an on-going program. 3. the scope of school health promotion and perception should be considered for developing health promotion programs. 4. elementary school health promotion programs should be developed and applied to research. 5. computer system programs should be developed for effective school health projects.

Nursing students experienced anxiety and fear of building relationships with psychiatric patients due to lack of professional knowledge about metal illness and skill to take care of the patients. The simulation education is known as an effective teaching-learning method since being performed in a non-threatening environment similar to clinical setting. The purpose of this nonequivalent quasi-experimental study was to identify the effect of simulation on anxiety and self-confidence about the psychiatric-mental health nursing practice. The third year nursing students at a three year nursing program were participated in this study. For the experimental group (N=28) the simulation education using the standardized patient based on the scenario for patients with schizophrenia was performed, and for the control group (N=18), the debated education applying the case study same as for the experimental group was made in the class. Using SPSS, t-test and ANCOVA were analyzed to compare the anxiety and self-confidence between the experimental and control groups. As a result of the study, the anxiety score on psychiatric-mental health nursing clinical practice of the experimental group significantly decreased, compared to that of the control group, but the self-confidence score for the performance of psychiatric nursing care showed no significant differences between the groups. Accordingly the simulation education can be an effective educational method to reduce anxiety about psychiatric-mental health nursing clinical practice for nursing students.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of biology contents of cyber home learning systems which provided by 16 metropolitan and provincial offices of education. The contents were evaluated by the 9 categories: needs assessment, instruction design, learning contents, teaching & learning strategy, interaction, supporting system, evaluation, ethicality and copy right. The result showed that the contents have advantage in detailed learning goal, useful learning environment, learning activities by level, and various learning parts material, but lack in evaluation method tool for personal learning by level and the latest learning material. Based on this results, it is expected that the barrier of the efficient learning contents should be searched for the complement, as well as the development high-quality educational contents and the management of cyber home learning system.
