  • This study investigates the effect of play-based software education instruction strategy for improving computational thinking as a method of software education. The play-based instruction strategy is a teaching-learning strategy in which the presented code is navigated through play, and the functions are revised and newly reconstructed. We designed an education program with the play-based instruction strategy and applied the program to elementary students. In order to verify the effectiveness of the research, we examined the competence of computing thinking concept and computing thinking practice. As a result, the computing thinking concept and computational thinking practice were that the proposed teaching-learning model is higher than the direct teaching method.

  • In this study, the importance-performance analysis (IPA) of the content components of remote graduate students was conducted. To this end, an online survey of 221 remote graduate students at J University obtained the following results. First, the importance of content components by area was in the order of learning content, interaction, teaching-learning strategy, and evaluation, and the degree of execution was in the order of teaching-learning strategy, interaction, evaluation, and learning content. Second, it was found that there were significant differences between importance and performance in the four areas of content components: learning content, teaching-learning strategy, interaction, and evaluation. The importance-execution analysis (IPA) was conducted in two dimensions: region-specific and item-specific, and the results are as follows. The learning content was found to be the maintenance area, the teaching-learning strategy and interaction were the key improvement areas, and the evaluation area was the overinvestment area. The results of this study can be used as basic data to diagnose the present of remote graduate school content and to gauge what needs to be improved in the future based on it.

  • This study aims for developing an instructional design strategy to improve collaborative teaching between teacher librarians and subject teachers in library-assisted instruction. Collaborative teaching is an important management activity enhancing teaching role of teacher librarians in their school community. But in the actual condition the level of the library-assisted instruction as its practical strategy is cooperation and subject teachers are leading teaching and learning except for selecting resources. Because library-assisted instruction is resource-based learning, the procedural knowledge of information literacy curricula and topics of subject specific curricula should be designed as a whole. Also, there must be possibilities of reducing trial and error and expanding successes. From these sides, the collaborative design strategy for library-assisted instruction can be planned like 'statement of learning situation-co designing-co teaching-co evaluating'.

  • As wireless-internet and mobile computer revitalizes, various teaching and learning strategies are appearing. In this study, we suggest a new integrated teaching method in u-learning environment effectively. First of all, to apply information technique to education effectively, we grasped various educational factors centered on learners. And then, we categorized them into contents, time and space as three vital factors and analyzed. Next, by combining the important factors, we suggested the new integrated teaching and learning strategy. We also operated personalized the integrated teaching for elementary school students and verified the effect. As a result, we learned that the integrated teaching was effective in the area of higher-level thinking presented as an effectiveness index, learning motivation and self-directed learning. That is, this study will promote excellence in education centered on learners in the hereafter u-learning environment and support general integrated education effectively.

  • The new paradigm of the 21st Century science education explores a wide range of possibilities that can foster students' interest toward science and creative convergence thinking. The purpose of this study was to utilize science visual media that can improve students' scientific creativity and artistic sensibility. Curriculum reorganization can be one solution for the primary convergence science teaching and learning strategies using science visual media. Through a new and exciting experiment to a various science visual media such as science picture, TV film, movie, UCC, etc., we hope this teaching and learning strategy can increase the students' scientific interest and attitude.

  • We have developed a UMC (Use-Modify-Create) strategy for the improvement of computational thinking in SW education. UMC model is an instructional strategy that students analyze examples of algorithms, modify-expand it and to develop new SW. First, we applied the UMC classes during 1 semester targeting pre-service teachers. To explore the effectiveness of the proposed model, we conducted a t-test for improving students' self-CT. Through a result, we found that is the UMC teaching-learning strategy helped the CT concepts and practice skills. In addition, we could see the Use and Create steps help to improve the ability of students' CT than directly teaching and Modify steps.

  • This study analyzes results of current Basic Design Engineering teaching and learning methods and makes suggestions based on its findings. To reach these conclusions, participants were 112 second-year students in Basic Design Engineering courses. In the results of t-test, there were significant statistics in learners' satisfaction, achievement of course outcomes and grades. Also the average of factors of the problem based learning strategy is higher than those of the project based strategy. Based on this study's findings, recommendations for effective teaching and learning strategies are made for Basic Design Engineering courses.

  • This study was done to analyze students' learning and its lasting effect by teaching strategy involving questioning. This study was performed with 68 students who were enrolled in a physiology class of the Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul, Korea, in 2003. The students were randomly divided into 2 groups. One group was taught in a way where students asked questions and the instructor answered the questions. For the other group of students, the instructor asked questions, and the students answered the questions. We performed a pre-test before the study begins and post-tests immediately, 3 weeks, and 6 weeks after the study. The results were analyzed by using analysis of covariance and repeated measures analysis of variance. A higher learning effect was observed in a group where questions were asked by students compared with the other group. The post-test results showed no significant difference in the lasting effect of learning according to the teaching strategy. Students' learning significantly improved when students asked questions and the instructor answered the questions compared with the strategy of the instructor asking questions and students answering to the questions.

  • In the latest internet environment based on Web 2.0, the open API in the form of mash-ups have emerged. In this study, we analyzed the contents of textbooks and curriculum related Web 2.0. We also designed the teaching and learning strategies using open API and mashup services. Firstly, we divided into four specific types of teaching-learning procedures and suggested the lesson plans. Moreover we developed the prototype on open API and mashup service-based contents and sites. Through this study, we presented special teaching strategies using new technology like an open API and mashup.
