The collected data was analyzed using the JAMOVI program to analyze the mediated effects and technical statistics. Results found that office stress, teacher efficacy, and sense of happiness of childcare teachers were found to meet the normality assumption. Second, the analysis of the relationship between office stress, teacher efficacy, and happiness showed a statistically significant negative correlation between administrative stress and teacher efficacy and happiness and teacher efficacy showed a significant positive correlation. Higher office stress led to less teacher effectiveness and happiness, and higher happiness led to higher teacher effectiveness. Third, office stress is a significant predictor of happiness and teacher's efficacy. In conclusion, office stress should be considered important in terms of happiness and teacher effectiveness and the direction of improvement in the treatment of child care teachers was suggested.

  • Gender equity education is ineffective in a public school system even though gender equity education is a current issue in South Korean education. One of the problems is attributed to teacher education because no better gender equity education can be accomplished without teacher preparation. Therefore, the effectiveness of teachers is a very important keyword in teacher education. This study examines learning experience, gender equity value, teacher preparation for gender equity education of pre-service teachers in Gonju, South Korea, the factors that influence teacher preparation for gender equity education, and the instruction of gender equity. A survey was delivered to pre-service teachers in 2008, and the data of 350 pre-service teachers were analyzed. MANOVA and Multiple Regressions were used for analyzing the data. The results will contribute to the development of effective teacher education for gender equity education and information on a partnership between the family and the public school system that is centered on gender equity education.

  • Recognizing the necessity of content-centered teacher professional development programs in a rapidly changing educational environments, this study analyzed the contents of teacher professional development programs in terms of teachers' participation by program contents and teachers' perception of the necessity and the effectiveness of such program contents. Employing Teaching and Learning International Survey(TALIS), this study analyzed the perception of 4,000 Korean secondary school teachers. The results showed that the programs with the highest teacher participation were mainly subject-centered while the teacher participation rates on the newly required contents such as ICT, intercultural counseling, school management and administration, and new job skills were low. Besides, when teachers were asked to identify the content areas where teacher professional developments are needed, the level of teachers' perception of the programs with low participation rates was accordingly low. Lastly, this study implies that since the years of teaching experience serve as a determinant on the types of the contents that teacher professional developments are needed and on the teachers' perception of the effectiveness of such contents, the course of teacher development should be taken into consideration when the contents of teacher professional development programs are developed.

  • This study has investigated the factors that make a science teacher effective by analyzing students' perception of teacher knowledge required in enhancing their science learning. The basic components of teacher knowledge identified by previous researchers have been confirmed through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). Based on the findings of the EFA, the questionnaire has been further analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) by means of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). In addition, the differences in students' perception on the identified factors of effectiveness have also been analyzed in terms of gender and achievement level. The findings of the EFA showed that five factors of science teacher effectiveness were identified; namely, substantive knowledge, syntactic knowledge, knowledge of students' understandings, knowledge of instructional strategies, and knowledge of assessment. These five components have been divided into two categories of teacher knowledge, SMK and PCK. What we found from the CFA was the respective high correlation between substantive and syntactic knowledge, knowledge of students' understanding and instructional strategies and the low correlation between substantive knowledge and knowledge of instructional strategies. Students perceived substantive knowledge as the most effective factor, knowledge of assessment as the least effective factor. Also, there have been considerable differences in students' perception by gender and achievement level. We proposed, based on the findings, that SMK and PCK need to be integrated into a coherent manner for the effective science teaching practice. This study provides some implications for science teacher professional development and the improvement of science teacher preparation program.

The subjects were selected on the basis of the Abbreviated Conners Teacher Rating Scale-Revised. The counseling program consisted of 12 sessions over a 6-week period. Effectiveness of the training was evaluated with the Conners Teacher Rating Scale-Revised, the ADHD teacher's rating scale, and the Korea-Child Behavior Checklist. Findings were that the group receiving counseling exhibited improved attention, social relationships, and self control. They also exhibited decreased carelessness-passivity, hyperactivity, hostility and fewer behavior problems.
