An accurate novel method for solving nonlinear mechanical systems

  • This paper attempts to investigate the nonlinear dynamic analysis of strong nonlinear problems by proposing a new analytical method called Hamiltonian Approach (HA). Two different cases are studied to show the accuracy and efficiency of the method. This approach prepares us to obtain the nonlinear frequency of the nonlinear systems with the first order of the solution with a high accuracy. Finally, to verify the results we present some comparisons between the results of Hamiltonian approach and numerical solutions using Runge-Kutta's [RK] algorithm. This approach has a powerful concept and the high accuracy, so it can be apply to any conservative nonlinear problems without any limitations.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a new function point estimation approach for the Object-Oriented information systems. In order to fulfill this purpose, we first review the literature on Function Point Analysis of IFPUG, Unified Modeling Language, and Unified Process. Then, we derive a method and rules for estimating Function Points based on Use Cases and Class Diagrams. To analyze the appropriateness of the proposed approach, we conduct the empirical testing. 143 use cases are collected from production, marketing, distribution, sales, and other areas from the Object-Oriented systems development projects. We compare our new approach with the existing methods that are usually used for traditional systems development projects. The results show that our proposed approach is more appropriate for the Object-Oriented environment.

A Tradeoff between Customer Efficiency and Firm Productivity in Service Delivery Systems

  • The paper proposes a non-parametric methodology, data envelopment analysis, for measuring efficiency and productivity in service delivery systems with capacity constraints. The methodology provides allocation approaches for studying behaviors of firm and customers in service delivery strategy. The experimental study is carried out to investigate allocation behaviors and conduct an objective tradeoff between efficiency approach and productivity approach. The experimental result indicates that the efficiency approach allocates resource via maximizing customer efficiency rather than firm productivity as in the productivity approach. Moreover, the experiment reveals that there exists an objective tradeoff between the efficiency approach and the productivity approach. These findings provide strategic options for allocation policy in service delivery systems.

  • In this note, we investigate a noniterative design method of an observer-based robust H$\_$2/ controller in the presence of structured real parameter uncertainty by applying Riccati approach based on the guaranteed cost function. Motivated by the numerical difficulty of the problem, we try to develop a simple design method named as block-diagonal approach, which can be solved by the LMIs method. By assuming the block-diagonal structure of Riccati solution, the original problem can be derived into two sequentially decoupled optimization problems as LQG control problem. The proposed method seems to be numerically efficient in obtaining a feasible compensator.

PID Control Design with Exhaustive Dynamic Encoding Algorithm for Searches (eDEAS)

  • This paper proposes a simple but effective design method of PID control using a numerical optimization method. In order to achieve both stability and performance, gain and phase margins and performance indices of step response directly compose of the cost function. Hence, the proposed approach is a multiobjective optimization problem. The main effectiveness of this approach results from the strong capability of the used optimization method. A one-dimensional example concerning gain margin illustrates the practical applicability of the optimization method. The present approach has many degrees of freedom in controller design by only adjusting related weight constants. The attained PID controller is compared with Wang#s and Ho#s methods, IAE, and ISE for a high-order process, and the simulation result for various design targets shows that the proposed approach achieves desired time-domain performance with a guarantee of frequency-domain stability.

  • The comparative study of maximum likelihood estimation with Bayesian approach was made by statistical & computational methods in center of a priori information of static systems and the effect of a priori information on the accuracy of the estimatiion was also analyzed. Through the numerical computations of some examples by digital computer, we concluded that maximum likelihood method is better than Bayesian estimation except for almost certain a priori informations. The study may therefore contribute in identification problems of dynamical systems connected with a priori informations.

  • In this paper, sliding mode observer design principles based on the equivalent control approach are discussed for the systems which may not satisfy the matching conditions. We propose a new approach for designing a sliding observer and the proof of the stability of the state reconstruction error system for time-invariant systems using the Lyapunov method. The reaching time to the sliding surface, the sliding dynamics of the system, the stability of the reconstruction error system via Lyapunov method, sufficient conditions for the existence of the sliding mode are studied.

  • We propose a measurement state feedback controller for a class of nonlinear systems that have uncertain nonlinearity and sensor noise. The new design method based on the matrix inequality approach solves the measurement feedback control problem of a class of nonlinear systems. As a result, the proposed methods using a matrix inequality approach has the flexibility to apply the controller. In addition, the sensor noise can be attenuated for more generalized systems containing uncertain nonlinearities.

  • This paper is for applying interactive fuzzy linear programming for the problem of product mix planning, which is one of the aggregate planning problem. We developed a modified algorithm, which has two-phase approach for interactive fuzzy linear programming to get a better solution. Adding two-phase method, we expect to obtain not only the highest membership degree, but also a better utilization of each constrained resource.

  • Rock masses represent natural systems that are inherently complex and in which multiple mechanisms occur. Rock engineering systems such as tunnel and slope interact with surrounding systems through an exchange of both mass and energy. Accordingly the complex nature of rock masses calls for a system approach, and the open nature of rock engineering even requires the engineering to be controlled by a system approach for surrounding environments. However, traditional methods cannot take all variables and their interactions into account and are limited to the system with single mechanisms. Therefore, they are not proper for a complex and open system, and also cannot portray the whole system. Thus, a system approach is indispensable to rock engineering for dealing with the whole of a complex and open system. In this paper Mechanism Path Analysis Methodology (MPAM) Is Introduced for a system approach to rock engineering. The analysis by the methodology gives us all the information of systems behavior in the context of the whole system in order to accomplish the optimum design in accordance with the project objectives and analysis purposes. As an application a conventional model for the evaluation of TBM tunneling performance system is analyzed by MPAM and the result is compared with that by a traditional method.
