복색 상징적 의미에 관한연구 (A Study on the Symbolic Meaning of the Costume Colours)

  • This study has been made to examine the symbolic meaning of our traditional costume colours based on the theory of yin-yang Wu-hsing the interaction of yin and yang with the rotation of the five agents wood firt earth metal and waters. Presenting the spirt and the life of our race the costume culture has been keep-ing its own systematic symbol. Being sensible the colour has to be under-stood as the colour sense therefore the cos-tume colour has begun to have the symbolic meaning with the feeling or the mental value. According to the theory of yin-yang wu-hsing the costume colour has presented our racial sprit way of thinking and way of life for a long time and it has become the tra-ditional culture at last. Based on the doctrine of cosmic harmony through the motion of yin and yang or the passive and active elements are their five agents form the material force of everything. The order of nature has its counterpart in five symbolic costume colours wood-blue ; fire-red: earth-yellow; metal-white: water-black. The five colours are called the primary colours. which produce the next compound colours. Accepted in the social system as well as the social stats the costume colour has set up systematically. The theory of Yin-yang Wu-hsing has given the five colours the symbolic meanings and its mainstream has been the function of Sangsaeng and Sangeuk which are genera-ted by the power of virture. The former is mu-tually beneficial while the latter destructive. The colour as a costume colour has been made distinction between the colour of the up-per classes and the colour of the middle and lower classes and the specific colour has presented the symbolic meanings. The yeollow the red and the purple have been regarded as the colour of king queen and upper classes Being the colour recognition the costume colour has been established by the society and the race generally Implied the spiritual elements the colour recognition could select the lucky colour in accordance with one's des-tiny. Besides the colour recognition has begun to appear as the racial costumes to protect the society and to pray for good fortune. According to the theory of Yin-yang Wu-hsing the costume colour has been forming through our long history and has become our costume culture. Therefore the colour of the costume has signified not only the colour sense but also the important symbolic meanings.

구조해석(構造解析)을 위한 Symbolic Manipulation Program (A Symbolic Manipulation Computer Program for Structural Analysis)

  • 기존(旣存) 범용 구조해석용(構造解析用) 프로그램들은 선택(選擇)된 역학적(力學的) 이론(理論), 계산(計算) algorithm등이 고정(固定)되어 있으므로 이용자(利用者)는 프로그램을 원하는 대로 control하기 어렵고 프로그램에 정의(定義)된 대로 data input만 준비(準備)한다. 이용자(利用者)가 계산과정(計算過程)을 control 할 수 있으며 원하는 역학적(力學的) 이론(理論) 및 계산(計算) algorithm등을 보완(補完)하여 이용(利用)할 수 있도록 한 구조해석용(構造解析用) 프로그램인 Symbolic Manipulation Program들이 개발(開發)되었으나 이들은 single domain 문제(問題) 해석용(解析用)이므로 대형(大型)콤퓨터가 필요(必要)하다. 본(本) 연구(硏究)에서는 substructure technique을 도입(導入)하여 구조물(構造物)을 multi domain으로 하여 중(中), 소형(小型)콤퓨터로도 해석(解析)할 수 있으며, matrix analysis 및 finite element analysis를 할 수 있도록 finite element characteristic arrays(Stiffness, Mass matrix)등을 계산(計算)하는 Element Subroutine 중 3D Beam element, Plate bending element 및 동력학계산(動力學計算)을 위한 Eigenvalue routine을 포함(包含)한 Symbolic Manipulation Program 개발(開發)이다. 이 프로그램의 구조(構造)는 module화(化)된 독립적(獨立的) 기능(機能)을 가진 processor 들로 구성(構成)되어 프로그램의 수정(修正), 첨가(添加), 삭제(削除)가 용이(容易)하며, Integrated Program Network(IPN) 개념중(槪念中) data base 방법(方法)으로 matrix form으로 된 data의 취급이 효율적(效率的)이다.

조선시대 복식에 나타난 자색계 색명의 연상적 의미 (The Associational Meaning of Purple-series Color Names in the Clothing of Joseon Dynasty Period)

  • In this study, the transition characteristics of purple series color names appearing in the clothing of the Joseon Dynasty were examined, and the associational meaning of each name were investigated through various methods. The results are as follows; First, Such characteristics as continuity, differentiation, substitution could be observed through the investigation of color names of purple-series appeared on the clothing in the Joseon Dynasty period. Secondly, the associational meaning could be subdivided into; social position symbolic meanings, usage meanings, economic meanings, and thought meanings. The social position symbolic meanings could be observed mainly in the single names which has been used since the ancient times, usage meanings could be observed in a wide variety according to the individual color names. The economic meanings could be observed by comparing the value of colored cloths and colored threads. The thought meanings were mainly related with the Confucianism. Thirdly, the associational semantic structure were established on the basis of associational meanings of purple-series color names. Individual color name on the social position symbolic semantic structure symbolizes [government official] and [servant]. Through usage semantic structure individual color names could be understood structurally according to the social position, sex distinction, wearing situation, items of clothing, and structure of clothing. Individual names on the economic semantic structure were segmented by the semantic components of the values in [high], [medium], [low] prices, kinds and quantity of dyes. The thought semantic structure could be subdivided [Confucianism] and [The Thought of Taeil] in its semantic structure.

현대 머리장식에 표현된 맥시멀리즘의 표현기법과 미적 의미에 관한 연구 (A Study of Expression Methods and Aesthetic Meanings of Maximalism Appeared in Modern Hair Ornaments)

  • This study analyzes expression methodology and aesthetic meanings in modern hair ornaments that adopt maximalism. Maximalism has appeared in various hair ornaments throughout history. Hair dresses are used for many reasons related to class, social position, religious beliefs, and occupation throughout the Eastern and Western hemispheres. A higher class and social position was often denoted by a fancier and bigger hairdress. In modern society maximalism is expressed in literature, expressionism, maxi-marketing, exaggerative advertisements, and symbolic architecture. Formative expression methodologies in modern hair ornaments that adopt maximalism are transform, overlapping & exaggeration, and mixing & edition. The aesthetic meanings of maximalism in hair ornaments are the reinterpretation of retro ornaments, the exaggeration of internal self-expression, humorous symbolic objects, and the conveyance of a social critical message. The advantages of maximalism help people communicate and co-provide an abundant life. These are expected to create significant and numerous positive impacts in society. In addition, the continued efforts on the investment in hair ornaments that express Maximalism well as a fashion trend shows that further study on the persistence, practicality and recognized design inconvenience in the aesthetic value are needed.

  • The residence plan of Korea has been formed with bias for quantitative growth and uniformity failing at obtaining human value. Also, rapid growth brought about severe problems of deteriorated human life and destruction of environment. The solution for these problems is pursued in many directions, but there is short of active plan yet. The residence shall develop into new direction to satisfy the demand by reflecting society and culture as well as residents. This study examines external design with symbolic representation of regional feature as an alternative for uniform residence environment problem. This study will be a basic data upon suggesting the direction for planning high quality residence environment. This study examined the elements which form external space of residence complex, designed plan for external space of residence complex, and examined how to reflect regional feature which is important element of local community and culture on the space plan for residence complex based on the evaluation by local residents centered on Gimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk which just started local specialty by fostering.   • The purpose of this study is to examine characteristics of symbolism as an important trend of the end of centuries, by comparing the symbolic characteristics from two periods, modern(1880∼1910s) and comtemporary(1990s), based on the typical characteristics of symbolic art by Robert R. Delevoy. Af for the study method, the contents analysis is adopted to present an objective data analysis and interpretation accompanied by theoretical approach through literature survey. Delevoy classifies symbolism into three categories such as mysticism, eroticism, and decorativeness. This study is developed based on the Delevoy's three categories. symbolistic costume reflecting systems of the society and the phases of the times, became to contain all aspects of functional, symbolic, and practical. Especially, the costume I contemporary era adopted a new approach, philosophical factors controling human's sensibility, and a sincere and analytical attitude on progress of technology. This study provide the fact that costume is a part to create aesthetic of self-expression as a field of formative art. Contemporary costume allows vital power for daily life of human by pursuing new aesthetic value, and it expresses inner world of human and moves on future-oriented to regain humanity. The symbolistic characteristics will continue to influence varous aspects of our society and play a main role in shaping the purpose of fashion design in the 21st century.

경주시 대학생의 매스티지 의류추구혜택과 상표충성도의 관계 (The Relationship of Masstige Clothing Benefit Seeking and Brand Loyalty)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of masstige clothing benefit seeking and brand loyalty. The data were collected from university students, 248 males and 262 females, living in Gyeong-ju, via a self-administered questionnaire. The data were analyzed by reliability analysis, factor analysis, Pearson's correlation, regression analysis, and t-test. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Four factors of the masstige clothing benefit seeking were identified; the rise of the social position and self-improvement, the popularity and durability, the desire for individuality and favorable impression, and the rare and precious value. Three factors of the brand loyalty were identified; the committed brand loyalty, the continued brand loyalty, and the symbolic brand loyalty. 2) The committed brand loyalty had a positive relation with two factors of masstige clothing benefit seeking, that is, the popularity and durability, the desire for individuality and favorable impression. The symbolic brand loyalty had a positive relation with the rise of the social position and self-improvement of masstige clothing benefit seeking. 3) There was sex difference on the desire for individuality and favorable impression, the popularity and durability of the masstige clothing benefit seeking. Also, there was sex difference on the committed brand loyalty.

네오 팝아트 방식을 적용한 국가상징 패턴 개발 - 무궁화, 태극기, 국새를 중심으로 - (Study on the development of national symbolic patterns viewed from the standpoint of neo-pop art - Focusing on Mugunghwa, Taegeukgi, and the Great Seal -)

  • The emergence of pop art in the 1960s exerted a profound impact on integrating art into the real lives of the general public, which continues in the current area of culture of post-industrial society. Thus, this study aims to attempt the popularization and modernization of Korean images by applying the concept of pop art to the development of a national symbolic image. This study utilized Mugunghwa, Taegeukgi, and the Great Seal, which are national symbolic images that establish the identity of Korea through differentiation, universality, and visual formativeness. It then proceeded with the development of neo-pop art motives and patterns using national symbolic images from the standpoint of symbolism, mix-match, and repetitiveness from among the characteristics of neo-pop art. This study carried out pattern design by departmentalizing each characteristic according to the standpoint of neo-pop art through scribbles composed of the following: Signs, pictograms, and childlike characters; drawing simplification for symbolism; a mix of the East and the West; a mix of subfashion and subculture for mix-match; the repetition of lines, characters, and icons; and the exaggeration and grotesqueness of characters and icons for repetitiveness. This study is expected to serve as momentum for raising the cultural value of Korea and for the development of a pattern design capable of achieving worldwide competitiveness through the combination of the permanence and continuity of national symbols with the popular universality of pop art.

현대패션비평에 관한 이론적 재고 (A Theoretical Reconsideration of Contemporary Fashion Criticism)

  • The purpose of this study is to illuminate the location of fashion in contemporary society and to suggest a direction for fashion criticism in aesthetic$\hat{u}$cultural perspective. For this, literature researches about some of art criticism and fashion criticism theories and cultural studies related to fashion are performed. In this study, fashion criticism is defined as a linguistic analysis and interpretation about a variety of discursive networks around fashion as well as an aesthetic analysis of it. Considering this definition, an analytical framework for the contemporary fashion criticism combines Feldman's and Carney's models with Crane & Bovone's and Entwistle's sociological studies for aesthetic and cultural perspectives. At first, its aesthetic perspective shows 'Description'-'Descriptive formative features', 'Analysis'-'Locate the style' and 'Aesthetic value', 'Interpretation'- 'Interpretation of the fashion object' and 'Socio-cultural interpretation', 'Judgment'-'Critical judgment'. Then, its cultural perspective especially emphasizes 'Socio-cultural interpretation' of the 6 steps above. Socio-cultural interpretation gets tangled with the network of various cultural agents within the fashion system, producers/designers, retailers/suppliers, media/editors, consumers/spectators, and so on. In the course of the fashion system 5 analytical methods about the fashion object can be suggested and they are as follows: Analyses of texts, discourses and symbols of a fashion object, Analyses of fashion systems which produces symbolic values, Analyses of the communication of symbolic values and the disseminating processes through the media, Analyses of the attribution of symbolic values to a fashion object by consumers, and Cross-national studies of symbolic values expressed in a fashion object.

브랜드 라이센싱이 소비자지각에 미치는 연구 - 상품유형과의 적합성이 지각된 위험에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 - (Brand License Effects on Consumer's Preception - Focus on Perceived Risk and Congruence between Product and Brand type -)

  • 본 연구는 브랜드 라이센싱이 소비자의 브랜드인지구조에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 진행되었다. 소비자 입장에서 브랜드는 상품에 관한 제한된 정보를 보충해주는 강력한 정보 원천이다. 브랜드확장전략은 강력한 브랜드를 가진 유명기업이 활용할 수 있는 전략적 대안이지만 브랜드파워가 약한 기업은 활용하기 힘든 전략이다. 이에 본 연구는 다수의 기업이 활용할 수 있는 브랜드 라이센싱에 관심을 갖고 라이센싱 및 상품유형과 브랜드 경험가치의 적합성이 소비자 위험지각에 미치는 영향을 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 상징재인 가방과 경험재인 크루즈상품을 런칭하려는 가상의 기업을 설정하고, 경험적 가치와 상징적 가치를 지닌 유명브랜드를 라이센싱하는 상황을 가정하는 유사실험을 진행하였다. 조사결과 소비자의 위험지각은 브랜드 태도에 음(-)의 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 상품유형과 라이센싱된 브랜드의 적합성은 상징재보다 경험재에서 소비자의 위험지각을 더 많이 줄여주는 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 상징재의 브랜드라이센싱은 경제적위험과 기능적 위험지각을 축소해주지 못하는 것으로 나타났다.
