Safety accidents have been reported due to falling accumulated snow from cables of cable-supported bridges. In addition to the direct damage caused by falling snow, secondary damage, such as traffic accidents, can occur. Various methods have been proposed to prevent these accidents, but there are still problems in safety and practicality. In this study, a cable robot type was selected as one of the active methods for removing accumulated snow on cables. An attempt was made to increase the climbing ability of the robot to improve the efficiency of snow removal. In addition, the available range of cable diameter for the robot can be adjusted flexibly to be applied to cables used in the field. A high-resolution camera was also installed to check the surface condition of the cable in real time to increase the utility, and be used as a cable inspection robot. A three-axis accelerometer and a tension conversion algorithm were added to measure the tension force of cables. To verify the performance, indoor and field experiments were conducted, and future improvements for the inspection robot were proposed.
To investigate the effects of C. E. P. A(2-chloroethyl phosphonic acid) on the ripening of tobacco leaf, the effects on the yield and quality of leaf tobacco, this experiments were carried out during the period of from 1970 to 1971 at tobacco experiment station, Sosa, Korea and 3 locations. The results are summarized as follows. 1. The higher the C. E. P. A concentration was, the more the leaf ripening was accelerated. During the period from 3 to 4 days after treatment, the differences of leaf ripening among levels were prominent. 2. Treatment with C. E. P. A only on the upper surface of the tobacco leaf, accelerated the ripening of that particular part treated, but not apparently the other parts of leaf. 3. Distinctive acceleration of leaf ripening was, obserbed in the fully develope1lower leans, however, the upper leaves were indistinctive. 4. The higher C. E. P. A concentration was, the more the effect of ripening acceleration was. But the yield was reduced over 900ppm because of the low of growth of leaves and the reduced yield was 90% at the 3, 000ppm. So the proper concentration was regarded as 900ppm. 5. In the view point of the days of C. E. P. A ripening acceleration, it was shortened one days at 100 ppm, three days at 300ppm, three days at 450ppm, four days at 900ppm, seven days at 3, 000ppm. 6. In the point of curing process, it was possible that the curing time and fuel was reduced 29% and 45% respectively in the C. E. P. A treatment than the check. 7. Therefore, if it is treated the C. E. P. A at 900ppm in the tobacco cultivation, the quality shall be increased 13.5% and the price shall be increased 12% in the 10 Are. In the point of subsidiary affect, it is possible that the C. E. P. A ripening acceleration is shortened about 7 days at 3, 00ppm and curing time is shortened about 24 hours.
The target of this study is large scale rock slope collapsed by around 7 pm on August, 2012, which is located at ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ limestone quarries of Gangneung city, Gangwondo. The slope prior to the collapse is formed as the height of about 200 m and the average inclination of $45^{\circ}$. The estimated amount of the collapse is about $1,500,000m^3$ with respect to the slope after the collapse. Geotechnical and field investigations such as boring, geophysical prospecting, surface geological survey, geological lineaments, borehole imaging, metric 3D imaging, experimental and field test, mining work by year, and daily rainfall were performed to find the cause of rock slope failure. Various analyzes using slope mass rating, stereonet projection, limit equilibrium method, continuum and non-continuum model were conducted to check of the stability of the slope. It is expected that the cause of slope failure from the results of various analysis and survey is due to the combined factors such as topography, rainfall, rock type and quality, discontinuities, geo-structural characteristics as the limestone cavity and fault zones, but the failure of slope in case of the analysis without the limestone cavity is not occurred. Safe factor of 0.66 was obtained from continuum analysis of the slope considering the limestone cavity, so the ultimate causes of slope failure is considered to be due to the influence of limestone cavity developed along fault zone.
Betarich carrots were washed at various hypochloric acid(HCA) concentration and steeping time and packed in PE bag keeping at $8^{\circ}C$ for 12 days, in order eventually to examine microbiology, firmness, surface color, whiteness index(WI) and sensory quality. It was found that total bacterial counts at T-II and T-III with the 3 minute steeping were $4.37{\pm}0.19\;\log\;CFU/g$ and $4.27{\pm}0.13\;\log\;CFU/g$ respectively, showing slight decrease compared to control condition. E. coli was not detected at all treatments but less coliforms were detected at the 8-day treatments of T-II and T-III. Treatment of 3-minute steeping showed smaller reduction in firmness than that of I-minute steeping at 12-days, and T-1 (T-3) had the largest (smallest) reduction among them. It was also found that during the treatment the L-value showed decreasing trend, but the parameter a- and b-value showed increasing trend. WI increased, and its change was small with the increase in HCA concentration. The sensory quality check after 8 day storage showed that evaluation of the off-flavor appeared to be significantly high (p<0.05) at both non-treatment and HCA treatment. On the basis of the results above, it is likely to be more effective to prolong the period of circulation of beta rich carrots if you use HCA over 50 ppm for washing betarich carrots. This study will contribute to improve safety and quality in circulation of beta rich carrots.
PURPOSES : This study aims to investigate the snow-melt effects of an underground electric heater's snow-melt system via a field performance test, for evaluating the suitability of the system for use on a concrete pavement. The study also investigates the effectiveness of dynamic measures for clearing snow after snowfall events. METHODS : In order to check the field applicability, in November 2010, specimens were prepared from materials used for constructing concrete pavements, and underground electric heating meshes (HOT-mesh) were buried at depths of 50 mm and 100 mm at the site of the Incheon International Airport Construction Research Institute. Further, an automatic heating control system, including a motion sensor and pavement-temperature-controlled sensor, were installed at the site; the former sensor was intended for determining snow-melt effects of the heating control system for different snowfall intensities. Pavement snow-melt effects on snowy days from December 2010 to January 2011 were examined by managing the electric heating meshes and the heating control system. In addition, data on pavement temperature changes resulting from the use of the heating meshes and heating control system and on the dependence of the correlation between the outdoor air temperature and the time taken for the required temperature rise on the depth of the heating meshes were collected and analyzed. RESULTS : The effects of the heating control system's preheat temperature and the hot meshes buried at depths of 50 mm and 100 mm on the melting of snow for snowfalls of different intensities have been verified. From the study of the time taken for the specimen's surface temperature to increase from the preheat temperature ($0^{\circ}C$) to the reference temperature ($5{\sim}8^{\circ}C$) for different snowfall intensities, the correlation between the burial depth and outdoor air temperature has been determined to be as follows: Time=15.10+1.141Depth-6.465Temp CONCLUSIONS : The following measures are suggested. For the effective use of the electric heating mesh, it should be located under a slab it may be put to practical use by positioning it under a slab. From the management aspect, the heating control system should be adjusted according to weather conditions, that is, the snowfall intensity.
We constructed a model test apparatus to evaluate the dependence of the saturation velocity (Vs) in soils on rainfall intensity (IR). The apparatus comprises a soil box, a rainfall simulator, and measuring sensors. The model grounds (60 cm × 50 cm × 15 cm) were formed by Joomunjin standard sand with a relative density of 75%. The rainfall simulator can control the rainfall intensity to reenact the actual rainfall in a soil box. Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) sensors and tensiometers were installed in the soils to measure changes in the volumetric water content and matric suction due to rainfall infiltration. During the tests, the soil saturation was determined by raising the groundwater table, which was formed at the bottom of the soil box. [Please check that the correct meaning has been maintained.] The wetting front did not form at the ground surface during rainfall because the soil particles were uniform and the coefficient of permeability was relatively high. Our results show that the suction stress of the soils decreased with increasing volumetric water content, and this effect was most pronounced for volumetric water contents of 20%-30%. Based on a regression analysis of the relationship between rainfall intensity and the average saturation velocity, we suggest the following equation for estimating the saturation velocity in soils: Vsavg (cm/sec) = 0.068IR (mm/hr).

Fire protection countermeasure were considered on the straw thatched roof and wooden structure. For the fire resistant treatment, rice straw was soaked in the fire resistant liquid with different soaking time. After treatment, some rice straw sample was washed with water then the rice straws were tested to check the fire resistance performance. And the wood was soaked in the fire resistant liquid at an atmospheric pressure, vacuum-pressure condition and painted with brush on the surface. To analyse the fire resistant performance of rice straw, ignition delay time was measured under the radiant heat flux of cone heater. And the fire resistant performance of wood samples were tested with 45 degree fire resistant test apparatus and cone heater. Based on the cone heater test, the rice straw which most easily ignitable material shows the longer ignition delay time than not treated ones and even in the water washed straw show a longer ignition delay time than not treated ones. And fire resistant treated woods of vacuum-pressure treated sample showed the most excellent performance on fire resistance. And the fire resistant treated by brush and soaking showed a longer ignition delay time than not treated ones. From this experiment, it was found that a fire resistant treatment of rice straw and wood of the house can be protected from the fire spread.
In this study, the development of biosensors capable of bi-enzyme reactions by including Horseradish peroxidase and glucose oxidase was carried out for detection of glucose. The sensors were manufactured using electro deposition method to reduce production time, and screen printed electrodes (SPE) were used to produce economical sensors. To check the bienzyme effect, the sensor was compared and analyzed with single enzyme biosensor. The characteristics of the sensor were evaluated using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), cyclic voltammetry(CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS), chronoamperometry(CA), and flow injection analysis(FIA). Analysis results from SEM, CV and EIS confirmed that the enzymes are well fixed to the electrode surface. In addition, it was confirmed that bi-enzyme biosensors manufactured from the CA method improved signal performance by 200% compared to single enzyme biosensors. From this results, we were able to explain that HRP and GOD react catalyzed to each other. And the results of FIA showed that the intensity of each current signal was constant when the same concentration of glucose was injected four times. In addition, by analyzing the intensity of current signals for glucose concentrations, the biosensors manufactured in this study showed excellent trends in signal sensitivity, reproducibility and stability.

Three-dimensional nonlinear sloshing effects due to tank motions are simulated by solving boundary value problem using the panel method based on boundary integral technique. While Shinkai used boundary elements on which source strengths vary linearly between nodes, the source of constant strength is distributed on each triangular panel in the present study. The source strength at each time step is determined by solving the Fredholm integral equation of the second kind obtained from Green's theorem. To avoid cumulative numerical errors as time elapses, Adam-Bashforth-Moulton method is employed. Numerical examples for the case of partially filled spherical tank on board oscillating in harmonic sway mode or pitch mode are solved. The elevation of the free surface is compared with the result by Shinkai and confirmed in good agreement during early time. The input and the output energy are comparatively evaluated to check the overall accuracy of the present numerical scheme. Although some leakage of energy are found as time marches, it is plausible when we take into account nonlinearities of the problem and the number of panels of the model.
The purpose of this study was to estimate the relation between techniques used for microleakage from dye penetration and for marginal adaptation from SEM evaluation of the restoration. Using high speed #330 bur class V cavities ($4{\times}3{\times}1.5 mm$ around CEJ) were prepared on the buccal surface of 20 extracted human molars. Six dimples as reference points for SEM and dye penetration evaluation were made with 1/2 round bur. Cavity was bulk filled with microhybrid composite resin (Esthet X) and all-in-one adhesive (Xeno III). Teeth were stored in saline solution for one day, after then, they were finished and polished using Sof-Lex system. Fifty percent silver nitrate dye solution was used for the evaluation of microleakage and resin replica was used for marginal adaptation. All of these were done after 1000 times thermocycling between 5 and $55^{\circ}C$. Vertical sections were made through three dimples of restoration to obtain samples for the evaluation of dye penetration and inner marginal adaptation. Outer adaptational estimation was done with an intact restoration before sectioning. Dye penetration was determined in three degrees and percentage of outer and inner leaky margin was estimated from SEM image The data were analysed statistically: Spearman's rho test were used to check relationships between two methods. The result were as follows : 1. There were significant relationships between degree of dye penetration and inner and outer marginal adaptations each (p < 0.01). 2. However, there was no significant relationship between the results or inner and outer marginal adaptation. Within the results of this study, relationship between the percentage of marginal adaptation and microleakage shows significant relationship. However, inner and outer marginal adaptation did not show any significant relationship mutually.
