  • InIn this paper we consider generalizations of the classical Dixon's theorem and the classical Whipple's theorem on the sum of a $_3F_2$. The results are derived with the help of generalized Watson's theorem obtained earlier by Mitra. A large number of results contiguous to Dixon's and Whipple's theorems obtained earlier by Lavoie, Grondin and Rathie, and Lavoie, Grondin, Rathie and Arora follow special cases of our main findings.

  • The main object of this paper is first to give tow contiguous analogues of a well-known hypergeometric summation formula for $_2$F$_1$(1/2). We then apply each of these analogues with a view to evaluating the sums of several classes of series in terms of Psi(or Digamma) and the Zeta functions. Relevant connections of the series identities presented here with those given elsewhere are also pointed out.

  • In this paper, an experimental study was performed to investigate the speed ratio-torque-thrust characteristics for metal belt CVT. It is observed from the experimental results that nondimensional secondary thrust force follows with the existing theoretical formula with ${\mu}$=0.09~0.12 depending on the torque and the speed ratio. In order to represent these characteristics, an effective friction coefficient was introduced. Also, the slip characteristics between the belt and the pulley were investigated experimentally and traction coefficients at gross slip were obtained for various speed ratios. Using the traction coefficients and the effective friction coefficients, an improved formula for the secondary thrust force was suggested assuming that thrust force is the summation of the thrust of pseudo inactive arc and the thrust of pseudo active arc. The effective friction coefficient and the improved formula for the speed ratio-torque-thrust relationship suggested in this work can be used to obtain the appropriate secondary thrust.

  • The aim of this research note is to derive the well known Kummer's second theorem by transforming the integrals which represent some generalized hypergeometric functions. This theorem can also be shown by combining two known Bailey's and Preece's identities for the product of generalized hypergeometric series.

  • By proving a summation formula, we enumerate the expansions for the mock theta functions of order 2 in terms of partial mock theta functions of order 2, 3 and 6. We show a relation between Ramanujan's ${\mu}(q)$-function and his sixth order mock theta functions. In addition, we also give the continued fraction representation for ${\mu}(q)$ and 2nd order mock theta functions and $Pad\acute{e}$ approximants.

  • Motivated mainly by certain interesting recent extensions of the generalized hypergeometric function [Integral Transforms Spec. Funct. 23 (2012), 659-683] by means of the incomplete Pochhammer symbols $({\lambda};{\kappa})_{\nu}$ and $[{\lambda};{\kappa}]_{\nu}$, we first introduce incomplete Fox-Wright function. We then define the families of incomplete extended Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta function. We then systematically investigate several interesting properties of these incomplete extended Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta function which include various integral representations, summation formula, fractional derivative formula. We also consider an application to probability distributions and some special cases of our main results.

  • Let q > 1 be an odd integer and c be a fixed integer with (c, q) = 1. For each integer a with $1{\leq}a{\leq}q-1$, it is clear that the exists one and only one b with $0{\leq}b{\leq}q-1$ such that $ab{\equiv}c$ (mod q). Let N(c, q) denote the number of all solutions of the congruence equation $ab{\equiv}c$ (mod q) for $1{\leq}a$, $b{\leq}q-1$ in which a and $\bar{b}$ are of opposite parity, where $\bar{b}$ is defined by the congruence equation $b\bar{b}{\equiv}1$ (modq). The main purpose of this paper is using the mean value theorem of Dirichlet L-functions to study the mean value properties of a summation involving $(N(c,q)-\frac{1}{2}{\phi}(q))$ and Kloosterman sums, and give a sharper asymptotic formula for it.

  • Contiguous relations for hypergeometric series contain an enormous amount of hidden information. Applications of contiguous relations range from the evaluation of hypergeometric series to the derivation of summation and transformation formulas for such series. In this paper, a general formula joining three Gauss functions of the form $_2F_1$[$a_1$, $a_2$; $a_3$; z] with arbitrary integer shifts is presented. Our analysis depends on using shifted operators attached to the three parameters $a_1$, $a_2$ and $a_3$. We also, discussed the existence condition of our formula.

  • Many different families of infinite series were recently observed to be summable in closed forms by means of certain operators of fractional calculus(that is, calculus of integrals and derivatives of any arbitrary real or complex order). In this sequel to some of these recent investigations, the authors present yet another instance of applications of certain fractional calculus operators. Alternative derivations without using these fractional calculus operators are shown to lead naturally a family of analogous infinite sums involving hypergeometric functions.
