Using data from 2011 Elderly Living Condition Survey database, this study analyzed risk factors for suicide ideation of Korean elderly persons. The analysis sample consists of 10,003 cases. The main purpose of this research was to explore the effects of social quality factor on suicide ideation of Korean elderly persons. Analysis results show that gender, age, area of residence, living alone, subjective standard of living, activities of daily living(ADLs), and geriatric depression are significant predictors of suicide ideation. Key findings are that social quality factor such as experiencing feeling hurt from others' words and actions like avoiding conversations, disregarding one's opinions, pretending to be not heard, getting irritated, grumbling, etc. has the largest effects on suicide ideation. Analysis results imply that without improving social quality, it would not be possible to lower elderly suicide rate.
This study attempted to develop repetitive impact sources similar to real-life floor impact noise and to find an assessment approach corresponding to this new impact source. The necessity for the development of the new impact source arises from the fact that issues related to floor impact noise in actual residential buildings mainly stem from children running. However, the standard impact sources which have been used for measuring and evaluating floor impact noise are of single-impulse type, which differs from the actual problematic impact sources. The study encompassed 18 evaluation items, and the results suggest that items applicable for assessing floor impact noise include psychological effects (annoying, becoming angry), disturbances to daily life (interference with sleep, disruption of relaxation), and physiological effects (elevated blood pressure). These items can be employed individually and, depending on the type of evaluation for floor impact noise, can be selectively utilized. By doing so, more comprehensive evaluations of auditory experiments in laboratories or assessments of residential noise in living environments related to floor impact noise could be conducted.

Data were gathered in November and December, 2012. The life expectancy scale, depression scale, health perception scale, subjective wellbeing scale, physical symptom scale, somatic symptom scale and college life stress scale of the general characteristics were analyzed by t-test and one way analyses of variance (ANOVA) and the Duncan's multiple range test at the 95% confidence level to assess the statistical significance. And stepwise multiple regression analysis was conducted to determine what factors would affect the stress of the students about college life. The data were analyzed with the windows ver. 12.0(SPSS GmbH, Germany) statistical software program. Results: Among the general characteristics, there were significant differences according to gender and age in all the variables that were life expectancy scale, depression scale, health perception scale, subjective wellbeing scale, physical symptom scale and college life stress scale. 61.3% of the students responded they slept for six hours or less, and the respondents who slept for six hours or less scored significantly statistically lower in health perception scale, subjective wellbeing scale and physical symptom scale. As for college life stress, the respondents who got depressed more often, whose subjective peace or happiness was lower, whose life expectancy was lower, who had worse physical symptoms, whose living standard was lower and whose academic year was lower were under heavier stress about their college lives. Conclusion: As the worse physical health and worse mental health(life expectancy, depression, health perception, subjective wellbeing and physical symptoms, etc.) of the college students led to heavier stress about college life, how to promote their physical health and mental health should discreetly be considered, and every necessary measure should be taken to improve their physical and mental health.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the influential factors on the change in life satisfaction of elderly households. In this study, single and couple elderly households were defined as elderly households and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th data of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Ageing (KLoSA) provided by the Korea Employment Information Service (KEIS) were used. And 677 respondents aged 65 and over who had replied to all 3 sessions were included in the final subjects. multinomial logistic regression analysis was conducted to examine the influential factors on life satisfaction by the type of elderly households according to consumption pattern and the result showed that there were common influential factors such as house owning status and subjective health status and the factors that influence specific types such as expectancy of standard of living. In addition, in the longitudinal analysis of life satisfaction of elderly households, individual satisfaction level was confirmed to reduce with time and the factors that influence the longitudinal change in the level of life satisfaction of elderly households was analyzed through the conditional model of a latent growth model. The analysis results showed that household type, house owning status, and subjective health status influenced the initial value of life satisfaction of elderly households while household type and expectancy of living standard influenced the change rate of life satisfaction of elderly households. Based on the results of this study, the followings are suggested. There is a need to improve the life satisfaction of old age by increasing the opportunity for self-realization of elderly households and also policy approach should be made selectively taking various types into consideration.
As the population ages, health problems of the elderly, including functional disorders and cognitive impairment, have become some of the most important social issues in Korea. The purpose of this study is to discover the rate of prevalence and factors related to dementia among the elderly in Jeju Province. 2405 elderly in Jeju Province were interviewed, using a questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic characteristics: health behavior, quality of life, and MMSE-K. Prevalence of dementia was 9.4%(11.7% of females, 4.1% of males). Factors related to dementia, analyzed by multiple logistic regression, were age, working status, subjective health status, social support, and subjective economic status. In community health care for the elderly, factors relating to dementia have to be considered. When planning community health care, priority should be given to the elderly who: need care but live alone; lack social support; have a low standard of living; believe they are not in a good state of health; or whose life satisfaction is low.
