  • This study aims to reveal the multilayered nature of the formal aspects of communal house architecture in North Korea. It is said that Kim Jong Il, who emerged as a successor after the mid-1970s, brought about a change in the architecture, leading the construction of a sculptural communal house on Gwangbok Street in 1989, and wrote The art of architecture (1992), which theorized architecture as an object of art. Therefore, it is widely perceived that the communal house was transformed from a simple form of living function to an artistic architecture with the rise of Kim Jong Il. This study, however, argues that this change was the result of an internal evolution in North Korean architecture, rather than a simple change in the position of an individual in power. It seeks to move away from the dichotomy that divides the communal house into two periods: the "KimIl-sung period," in which the communal house was laid out in a simple form to provide mass supply and a socialist lifestyle, and the "Kim Jong-il period," in which the communal house took on an artistic form, such as the Gwangbok Street communal house, in the early years of reconstruction. In the 1950s and 1960s, before KimJong-il's arrival, the communal house form was not simply a flat arrangement, but a three-dimensional and sculptural consideration of the effect on the cityscape.

  • This study aims to analyze the color characteristics of Japanese cultural product shops and differences in business categories by analyzing the colors of the Gion Shopping Street in Kyoto, Japan. Through the study, the traditional colors are reflected not only in the domestic cultural products but also the interior colors of shops. That way, visitors can be influenced naturally and gain indirect cultural experience to form a good image of Korea, which can help to improve sales of cultural products. The analysis was conducted through the colors of Munsell to determine the overall, dominant, assort, and accent colors based on categories of goods to identify the characteristics of the traditional Japanese cultural product shop. Among the 85 shops that were surveyed, YR and W frequently appeared as chromatic and neutral colors. Dominant was W, and assort was YR. B, P and Y also showed up. In color combination analysis, 35.3% was contrasted. For the hue, 32.9% was dark. Based on goods categories, confectionary shops used YR mainly, while souvenir and fashion accessory shops used W the most. Restaurants mostly had W as thedominant and YR for assorting. Cafes and art shops used Bk the most. The interior colors of cultural products shops should maintain the atmosphere of tradition and convey images of the products well. Based on this research, Korea also needs to actively reflect the interior designs of cultural product shops using traditional colors.

The latter case is that while flying in the sky as usual, the drone suddenly crashed, fell, and hit the head of a young child while walking on the street. Further previous studies such as third party liabilities, liability insurance, mandatory insurance were deeply analyzed. Results: Based on some case studies and previous studies, the author suggested valuable comments in turn realization of insurer as provider, exhaustive creation and operation of mandatory insurance, realization of insured as demanded, and arrangements of laws and systems in special consideration of amendment of companion animal and exhaustive execution of mandatory insurance by the government. • This study has the purpose to reveal the differences of residents' using behaviors of living facilities at 3 complexes. The physical characteristics of the complexes have been investigated by a literature study and field survey. In addition, questionnaires were answered by residents on living facilities using behavior on community environment. The tools of analysis are frequency, percentage, and cross tabulation using SPSS WIN 12.0 program. Followings are the results of the study. 1) The developmental concept of 3 complexes maintained its initial identity. (1) The residence-oriented complex, having wider residential space, had better downtown access and more convenient facilities for daily life. (2) The residence-government mixed complex, constructed with an eco-friendly concept, had wider green and public service space and good downtown access but on the other hand, had less convenience facilities because of a short period from construction. (3) The residence-industry mixed complex, located in sub-urbanity and conceding more land for industries, had poor access to downtown but had more convenient facilities for workers' use. 2) The most frequently visited convenience facilities were shopping facilities, large or small, and banks, and activities were commonly done in the complex or adjacent area. This means it is recommended that the developer of the new complex locate convenience facilities in multi-core concentration types or street types rather than one-core concentration types.

Based on the survey results, the psychological factors that affect the life safety environment of the living space was found in the exterior space environment. Second, the living safety factors in the exterior space of a one-room residence can be shown by four types, such as occupant monitoring, residential surveillance and area classification, external public space utilization, and pleasant environment maintenance in the architectural planning dimension. Third, the results of research on the exterior space of the university one-room village, and life safety environment of exterior space, such as design of pedestrian street, revealed a very poor resident population and one-room buildings in most areas.

  • If we look at Korea's urbanization since 1960, only the urban communities like buildings have developed, yet the resting places for human itself have been ignored. Many people continuously felt alienated especially after the mechanization and started to demand for better living space. For that reason, it is essential for us to develop the resting places for human among the buildings in urban areas and these resting places could form the basis of new community. We have researched on street furniture and citizen's behavior pattern in resting places through references and internet surfing to propose a design concept for a new resting place and street furniture, Therefore, we would like to design a resting place in urban area considering human, community and environment. As a result, we have designed a resting place where citizens could interact with surrounding environment and let office workers enjoy the nature among the buildings in this resting place. People could always stop by and take some rose by enjoying the surrounding nature. The resting place consists of 5 zones- public square, environmental zone, communication zone, technology zone, and entertainment zone. Each zone has its own design motif to lead systematic street furniture and site planning. The resting place is formed in a specific region which is a prototype of a resting environment in urban areas in the future and it could be reassigned according to its regional condition.

  • It is known that one out of every ten people walking down the street is left-handed. In daily living, left-handed people come across hardwares and facilities that were designed for right-handed people. Most tools, utensils, office equipment, home appliances, clothes, medical instruments, sporting goods, weapons, and public facilities are made for the right-handed person. Many left-handed people thus have trouble with living in our environments. In this study, 1,933 Korean male and female subjects aging from 10 to 82 were selected to investigate the various statistics about hand dominance and their employment characteristics of preferred hand in handling diverse products and facilities. The statistics showed that 5.6% were left-handed and 7.6% were ambidexter. There were strong tendency that left-handed people use more left hand when take action that force is required than when take exquisite action. Ambidexter and right-handed people use more right hand when they take exquisite action is required than when take action that force is required. It was found from these results that people use their hands differently depending on the hand dominance when they handle things, hence this should be considered in designing hand control devices.

  • The Green Lamp Fixture (GLF) of LED prepared with thin panel structure was investigated for illumination of street lamps and other lighting system uses, which was also very useful to aquaculture and aquafarm lighting uses, or fish luring lights and marine aquanautics of aquamarinautics (aquamarine+aquanautics) uses, etc. In the case of fish luring lights, it was verified that the fish luring of Green Lamp Fixture of LED was very effective for phototaxis movement and ecological community promotion to the micro-living things of organisms and the small fries and fishes, like as 'crowding together'. For the aquaculture lightings, it was also very excellent in waterproof and heat-sink properties, photosynthetic growing of algae and micro-organisms, water-weeds and seaweeds living underwater.
