  • This paper develops log-density estimation for directional data. The methodology is to use expansions with respect to spherical harmonics followed by estimating the unknown parameters by maximum likelihood. Minimax rates of convergence in terms of the Kullback-Leibler information divergence are obtained.

  • In this study, we propose a new nonparametric test procedure for the multivariate data. In order to accommodate the generalized alternatives for the multivariate case, we construct test statistics via-values with some useful combining functions. Then we illustrate our procedure with an example and compare efficiency among the combining functions through a simulation study. Finally we discuss some interesting features related with the new nonparametric test as concluding remarks.

  • In this paper, we propose an extension of the maximum likelihood seasonal cointegration procedure developed by Johansen and Schaumburg (1999) for daily time series. We presented the finite sample distribution of the associated rank test statistics for daily data.

  • A method of estimating probability density using regression tools is presented here. It is based on equal-length binning and locally weighted approximate likelihood for bin counts. The method is particularly useful for densities with bounded supports, where it automatically corrects edge effects without using boundary kernels.

  • In this paper, we consider a minimum distance (M.D.) estimation based on kernels for U-statistics. We use Cramer-von Mises type distance function which measures the discrepancy between U-empirical distribution function(d.f.) and modeled d.f. of kernel. In the distance function, we allow various integrating measures, which can be finite, $\sigma$-finite or discrete. Then we derive the asymptotic normality and study the qualitative robustness of M. D. estimates.

  • An exclusive simulation study is conducted in computing means for order statistics in standard normal variate. Monte Carlo moments are used in Shapiro-Francia W' statistic computation. Finally, quantiles for Shapiro-Francia W' are generated. The study shows that in computing means for order statistics in standard normal variate, complicated distributions and intensive numerical integrations can be avoided by using Monte Carlo simulation. Lack of accuracy is minimal and computation simplicity is noteworthy.

  • In this paper, we use the moments of order statistics derived by Lieblein (1955) to develop the correlation goodness-of-fit test for the Rayleigh distribution. In such we simulate the percentage points of the test statistics for the one-parameter and two-parameter cases. In addition, we calculate the power of the proposed tests based on some alterative distributions. Finally, we apply the procedures developed in the paper to some real data.

  • This paper reviews nonparametric statistics by Neyman-Pearson test and Fisher test. Nonparametric statistics deal with the small sample with distribution-free assumption in multi-product and small-volume production. Two tests for various nonparametric statistic methods such as sign test, Wilcoxon test, Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Mood test, Friedman test and run test are also presented with the steps for testing hypotheses and test of significance.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the properties of order statistics under various stochastic relations. We study the stochastic comparison of order statistics in a single sample. And we consider two sample case too. For example, F(t) > G9t) for t > 0 when X and Y are random variables symmetric about 0, with c.d.f.s F and G. Two examples are provided.
