근래에 와서 성인과 아동에 비해 공공도서관서비스의 혜택을 제대로 누리지 못하고 있는 청소년 이용자 군에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있으며, 특히 아동에서부터 성인으로 성장해 가는 발달과정에 있는 청소년들을 위하여 청소년들의 독특한 정보요구에 맞추어 서비스하도록 강조하고 있다. 이를 위해 청소년들의 요구조사가 실시되고 사회적으로 심각한 청소년문제 해결을 위해 공공도서관의 역할이 중요시되고 있다. 이에 따라 도서관계에서는 청소년서비스에 필요한 지침, 권고사항, 매뉴얼 등 기본사항을 제시하여 청소년서비스 개선에 도움을 주고 있다. 본 논문은 국내 공공도서관에서도 청소년서비스의 중요성을 인식하고 보다 체계적으로 청소년서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 미 도서관계에서 제시한 청소년서비스에 관한 기본사항을 소개하고 있다.

Modern society is heading towards a knowledge & information based society where knowledge and information is valued, or a knowledge creation society where information is analyzed and processed to be used as knowledge. This means that not only individuals but also every organization is always surrounded by information and that we are witnessing a transition into a society where the value of knowledge and information is increasingly higher so sometimes we must actively explore and use the information across the whole social structure involved with politics, economy and culture. Recently, while the amount of information at public libraries at home and abroad has greatly increased in volume and the kinds have become diverse, efforts for digitalizing and integrating knowledge & information resources are being pursued aggressively. A new paradigm of facilities and space configuration for public libraries is required so that along with traditional library service there will exist integrated links and exchange of digital information resources and all users will be able to equally access that information. Therefore, assuming that human, information and space are important design factors as to space planning for public libraries, this study compared characteristics of the space structure and the form of exchange of knowledge & information through examples involved with public libraries having opened in the past three to four years from perspectives of space sociology and communication. This is a basic study to provide organized design guidelines about the form of exchange of creative knowledge & information from various perspectives in the knowledge & information age. Also this study is considered to have a significance in activating communication with users through exchange, creation and experience of knowledge & information, which is a social role that modern public libraries support.

As the digital information infrastructure is established for the public library system in the contemporary age, expectations and demands surrounding the public library system are growing rapidly as the place of exchange and enjoyment of information and culture, and as the place of life-long learning. In addition, a new kind of information & culture services are needed to meet the demands of contemporary men and women, who are exploring information as the information environment undergoes rapid changes - from increase in the volume of digital publications, to increase in the usefulness of online information resources, to strides made in the media industry. The public library will continue to play its role and function by providing to all users all available information, whether it's available online or offline, whether it's in a physical format or in a digital format. As such, design and management of a space appropriate as a new information environment are needed. It is deemed that an information infrastructure for Daegu that can improve the quality of life in the region and can increase user accessibility to information in this information age is needed, as well as reorganization of the pertinent environment. Therefore more public libraries have to be built in Daegu as a necessity, and it is urgently needed that the information services be expanded through an organic linkage between local libraries such as between the central library and the branch libraries. This paper aims to provide basic data for building of public libraries in Daegu. To establish an information infrastructure for Daegu, a direction is given for the establishment of a local network of public libraries and ways for improvement are explored. This paper is significant in that, first, it helps in the planning of a local network of public libraries, which plays a crucial role in improving accessibility to information as well as the level of their use; and second, it helps in setting up guidelines for spatial configuration of the user space. As for the method, quantitative review of the information environment is to be done by analyzing the present situation of the public library network in Daegu from the perspectives of region, facility, and space, in order to present a method of user-centered spatial configuration that meets the changes in social roles and forms of information in the contemporary society.

본 연구의 목적은 아동 청소년에 대한 교육 정보 서비스가 증가하고 있는 공공도서관 사서의 자아상을 의미 변별법을 활용하여 측정하고 일반적인 특징을 분석하는 것이다. 분석 결과 공공도서관 사서들은 자신의 일에 보람을 느끼고 있으며 친절함, 공평함, 상냥함을 지녔다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 자신의 역할이 영향력이 없고 무시당하고 있으며, 초라하고 답답하다는 부정적인 자아상도 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 공공도서관 사서들은 자신의 능력과 자질 그리고 활동에 대해서는 긍정적인 자아상을 가지고 있지만, 사서직의 역할에 대한 사회적 공감대와 긍정적인 평가에 대해서는 부정적인 자아상을 형성하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 공공도서관 사서에 대한 고정관념을 극복하고 사서직에 대한 평가와 역할에 대한 긍정적인 자아상을 형성하기 위해서는 아동 청소년의 접근성 향상을 위한 도서관의 물리적 환경 구축 및 프로그램 운영, 선배 사서들의 리더십 발휘, 도서관과 사서직의 새로운 가치와 역할에 대한 홍보 그리고 교수자로서의 자질 함양을 위한 사서 재교육 활성화 등이 필요할 것으로 보인다.

본 연구는 공공도서관 이용자를 대상으로 장소애착도와 장소가치인식도 간의 영향관계를 통계적으로 검증해보고, 이용빈도, 거주기간, 이용목적, 웹사이트 이용경험이 장소애착도와 장소가치인식도 간의 관계에서 조절변수로서의 역할을 하는지 파악하고자 했다. 계층적 회귀분석결과, 이용빈도와 거주기간이 '장소의존성'과 상호작용하여 '체험가치인식도'에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이용목적에 대한 조절효과를 알아보기 위해 이용목적별로 집단을 구분하고 장소애착도와 장소가치인식도와의 관계를 집단별로 분석하였다. 도서관 웹사이트 이용경험은 장소애착도와 장소가치인식도와의 관계에서 조절효과를 보이지 않았다. 본 연구 결과는 장소애착도라는 이용자의 감정적인 지표가 장소로서의 공공도서관의 가치를 설명할 수 있는 변수로서 활용성이 있음을 시사하고 있다.

본 연구는 사회적 환경변화를 고려하면서 다양한 이용자들의 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있는 공공도서관 서비스체계를 구축하기 위해 서울시 마포구의 공공도서관 서비스체계를 점검하고, 공공도서관 이용자들의 인식과 요구를 분석하였다. 이를 위하여, 마포구의 공공도서관 이용자 800명과 비이용자 300명을 대상으로 독서경험, 도서관 이용 경험, 도서관에 대한 인식, 도서관서비스, 프로그램 및 도서관정책 등에 관한 지역주민의 요구를 조사하였다. 분석결과, 마포구민의 53.7%는 전체 공공도서관 중 2개관 이하를 이용해봤고, 주이용도서관을 선택하는 기준은 접근성이 63.9%였다. 그리고 전체 이용자의 53.8%만이 프로그램 참여경험이 있었다. 또한, 주민들은 도서관은 지역사회에 필요하며, 아이들을 위한 필수기관이라는데 강한 동의를 나타냈다. 도서관정책에 관한 요구사항은 장서의 양적 확대 및 콘텐츠의 다양화에 대한 요구가 가장 컸고, 도서관시설 등 환경개선 및 도서관 확충에 대한 요구도 많았다. 공공도서관이 지역사회 공동체의 중심공간의 역할을 충실히 수행하기 위해서는 접근이 편리한 생활권 중심에 설립되는 것이 중요하고, 장서의 확대, 주제 및 매체의 다양성 확충과 더불어 노후화된 도서관시설을 개선하여 쾌적하고 혁신적인 공간으로 개선하는 등의 노력이 필요하다.

본 연구는 도서관의 지역성, 공동체성, 상호작용성 및 유기체성이라는 소통적 특성을 발굴하고, 이들을 이루는 구성요소가 타당한지 측정하고자 하였으며 연구결과를 통해 소통적 특성을 기반으로 한 공공도서관의 역할을 정립하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 최종적으로 도서관은 '지역성', '공동체성', '상호작용성', '유기체성'의 4개의 소통적 특성을 지는 것으로 나타났다. 4개의 소통적 특성은 16개 구성요소, 이에 따른 63개의 세부요소로 구분할 수 있다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 델파이 조사결과를 종합하여 소통적 특성에 따라 공공도서관의 역할을 정립하였다. 첫째, 도서관이 건강한 지역사회를 형성하는 공간으로 커뮤니티 활동을 위한 다양한 공간을 제공하고, 커뮤니티의 생성과 강화에 기여하며 이에 필요한 정보를 제공하는 역할을 한다. 둘째, 도서관은 공동체성 강화를 위해 지역의 문화공동체 형성과 대인관계 향상, 사회적응력 향상 지원을 통해 지역사회의 소속감 형성에 기여하며, 지역주민 간의 활발한 지역 활동을 지원해야 한다. 셋째, 도서관은 다양한 세대들이 의견을 공유하고, 여가활동을 위한 공간, 지역공동체의 문화 성장을 위한 공간으로 역할을 한다. 넷째, 소통적 특성으로서 도서관 유기체성은 내·외부 환경변화에 따라 도서관의 전통적인 역할과 기능인 정보전달, 정보서비스뿐만 아니라 새로운 개념이 도입되어, 확장된 서비스를 통해 이루어지는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

본 연구에서는 설문조사를 통해 공공도서관이 디지털통합적 지역사회 구축자로서의 역할에 어느 정도 기여하고 있는지를 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 국가도서관통계시스템에 등록된 전국 공공도서관 935개 기관을 대상으로 설문을 수행하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 컴퓨터, 노트북, 스캐너, 태블릿 PC 등 장비 인프라, 인터넷 인프라 등은 비교적 높은 수준에 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 둘째, 이용자가 이용할 수 있는 전자책, 디지털 및 가상참고서비스, 도서관서비스 모바일 앱 등 서비스나 자원은 비교적 높은 수준이나 협업과 그룹작업을 지원하는 소프트웨어나 참여공간의 가용성 등은 상당히 낮게 나타났다. 셋째, 기술과 관련된 리터러시 훈련 비율은 22.4%에 지나지 않았고, 교육주제도 자원탐색 주제로 집중되어 있으며, 화상회의기술 사용법이나 클라우드 컴퓨팅 어플리케이션 교육 등 다소 미래지향적인 기술교육은 하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 문화향유 공간 또는 창의적인 공간으로서의 도서관의 다양한 역할 변화를 모색해야 하는 이 시대의 흐름에 따라 기술 및 장비의 제공확대, 그리고 미래지향적 서비스 및 교육제공을 고려해야 할 것이다.

This study comprehensively analyzed domestic and foreign literature related to the value and impact of libraries on education, social behavior and economic conditions, developed a survey to investigate the librarians' perception of the libraries' value and impact, and accordingly investigated the perception of librarians according to the types of libraries in which they worked, public versus university. The results showed that the impact is greatest on education and literacy with a mean score of 3.98, followed by their social impact with 3.67 and their economic impact with 3.46. When subordinate items were analyzed it was found that the librarians perceived that the role that libraries are playing in the education area is expanding and their impact on reading and literacy is becoming greater and greater. Libraries were viewed as essential elements for education and the education system. When the difference in perception related to the impact of libraries was compared by types of libraries, the librarians in public libraries tended to rate their facilities higher than the librarians working in universities on most of the items.

본 연구의 목적은 인스타그램을 활용한 대학도서관의 홍보 활동에 대한 재학생의 이용 현황과 인식을 파악하고 이를 바탕으로 도서관 홍보를 위한 대학도서관 인스타그램 운영 방안을 제안하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국내외 대학도서관 인스타그램 운영 현황을 조사하고, 소속 대학의 도서관 인스타그램을 이용하는 학생 292명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 진행하였다. 연구 결과, 대학도서관 인스타그램 운영 개선을 위해 첫째, 재학생의 인스타그램 이용과 밀접하게 연관된 '도서관 행사 및 이벤트' 정보를 활용하되 실질적인 도서관 이용으로 이어질 수 있는 참여 방법을 기획하여 도서관 이용을 활성화하는 것이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 도서관 이미지 인식에 긍정적인 영향을 주기 위해서 인스타그램을 통해 사서의 역할을 홍보하고 일상적 커뮤니케이션 정보를 활용하는 것이 필요하다. 셋째, 도서관 인스타그램에 이용자가 문의할 수 있는 방법을 안내하고, 주기적인 게시물 업로드와 모니터링을 통해 이용자와의 소통에 적극적으로 대응하는 것이 필요하다.
