Hedonic or Utilitarian : Why People Keep Using Social Network Services

  • Social networking services (SNSs) serve to strengthen people's social relationships by providing ways for people to utilize such relationships especially like workplace. With the development of the internet worldwide, the number of SNS users is rapidly growing and a wider range of service types have become available. In this study, we designed a research model with a focus on what makes people use SNSs at workplace and how it is associated with changes in relationship quality and their intention to continue using the services and analyzed data collected for the research model. Theoretically, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation was invoked and measured, in terms of hedonic and utilitarian values, and satisfaction and trust were adopted as variables of relationship quality. Data were collected from Facebook users using workplace, and a partial least squares (PLS) analysis was made on 188 data points. The analysis results showed that two forms of motivation-hedonic and utilitarian-are separated from each other in their influence and that utilitarian value is more important than hedonic value, especially when it comes to users' satisfaction. In addition, the analysis found a weak relationship between satisfaction and trust in SNS environments; this was a little different from the results of previous studies.

XSSClassifier: An Efficient XSS Attack Detection Approach Based on Machine Learning Classifier on SNSs

  • Social networking services (SNSs) such as Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook have become progressively significant with its billions of users. Still, alongside this increase is an increase in security threats such as cross-site scripting (XSS) threat. Recently, a few approaches have been proposed to detect an XSS attack on SNSs. Due to the certain recent features of SNSs webpages such as JavaScript and AJAX, however, the existing approaches are not efficient in combating XSS attack on SNSs. In this paper, we propose a machine learning-based approach to detecting XSS attack on SNSs. In our approach, the detection of XSS attack is performed based on three features: URLs, webpage, and SNSs. A dataset is prepared by collecting 1,000 SNSs webpages and extracting the features from these webpages. Ten different machine learning classifiers are used on a prepared dataset to classify webpages into two categories: XSS or non-XSS. To validate the efficiency of the proposed approach, we evaluated and compared it with other existing approaches. The evaluation results show that our approach attains better performance in the SNS environment, recording the highest accuracy of 0.972 and lowest false positive rate of 0.87.

  • 기술의 발전에 힘입어 SNS를 활용하는 기업은 급속도로 증가하고 있으나 SNS를 단순히 '사용'하는 것만으로 그 기능을 '활용'했다고 말하기는 어렵다. 이에 본 연구는 사용을 넘어 디지털 기술과 SNS 기능을 온전히 활용하여 사용자의 편의성을 증대시키고, 공급자의 효율을 높여 현장을 활성화시키고자 하는 목적 아래 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구는 2021년 2월부터 2021년 12월까지 A대학 대학원 신문사의 페이스북 이용실태를 참여관찰법을 통하여 분석 및 고찰하였다. 이에 따른 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 양질의 콘텐츠를 지속적으로 공급할 수 있도록 콘텐츠의 주제와 유형을 다변화시킬 필요가 있다. 둘째, 타겟보고서나 인사이트 등 SNS 기능을 활용하여 사용자의 범주와 특성을 살피고 이를 기반으로 사용자의 니즈에 맞는 콘텐츠를 공급해야 한다. 셋째, 저조한 사용자 참여와 페이스북 비활성화 문제를 해결하기 위하여 온라인 이벤트 등의 촉진전략을 새로이 개최할 필요가 있다. 이러한 본 연구는 디지털 환경 속에서 시장의 변화를 따라가지 못하는 일부 기업의 현실적 문제를 직시하고, 그 실패 요인과 이를 타진할 수 있는 해결 방안을 제시했다는 점에 연구의 의의를 둔다.

온라인 Social Shopping 사이트 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (Factors Influencing Acceptance of Online Social Shopping Site)

  • The market structure and consumer characteristics are changing dynamically according to internet shopping industry developing based on Web 2.0. But, there is absent typical online service after 'Cyworld.' The social shopping sites based on social networking reflect to present phenomenon that collective intellect, information sharing, participate in making information. The social shopping sites are not limited in particular shopping sites but include all of sites in online. So, consumers can copy various products and display on their own blog provided from social shopping sites and make some purchase reviews and any comments about products can lead transactions among social shopping sites. So, it might be a one of meta-shopping mall like 'Naver.' As the social shopping sites are new form, we just applied to TAM theory to figure out acceptance factors using SEM. The perceived enjoyment affect to usefulness, ease of use and using intension. The perceived ease of use also affect to usefulness and the usefulness affect to using intension positively. But the perceived ease of use was for nothing in using intension. Finally, we provided managerial implications to activate domestic online shopping industry and theoritical meaning using extended TAM.

A Study on Finding Potential Group of Patrons from Library's Loan Records

  • Social networking services that connect a person to other people are attracting people's attention and various types of services are provided on the Internet. Library has been playing a role of social media by providing us with materials such as books and magazines, and with a place for reading, studying, getting lectures, etc. In this paper, we present a method for finding candidates of groups of the library's patrons who share interest areas by utilizing the loan records, which are obtainable in every library. Such a homogeneous group can become a candidate for a study group, a community for exchange ideas, and other activity group. We apply the method to a collection of loan records of a university library, find some problems to be solved, and propose measures for more detailed solutions. Even though the potential group finding problem still remains a lot of issues to be solved, its potential importance is very high and thus to be studies even more for future applications.

사회과 교사의 정보추구행태 분석을 통한 교육정보서비스 제안 (Analysis of Information Seeking Behaviors of Social Science Teachers According to Their Tasks)

  • 본 연구는 사회과 교사의 과업에 따른 정보추구행태를 분석하여 이들에게 필요한 교육정보서비스를 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 대전지역 13명의 사회과 교사를 대상으로 반 구조화된 심층 면담을 실시하였고, 수집한 자료는 Leckie, Pettigrew and Sylvain의 정보추구모형을 적용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 사회과 교사의 정보요구는 업무 역할과 과업에 따라 내재적 및 외재적 동기에 의해 발생하였다. 그리고 정보요구의 성질인 반복성, 예측 가능성, 긴급성, 난이성은 정보추구행태에 영향을 줄 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 사회과 교사는 정보요구를 해결하기 위해 웹 정보, 도서정보, 인적정보 등 다양한 정보원을 이용하는 것으로 나타났으며, 정보원 인식에 미칠 수 있는 요인으로는 신뢰성, 정보의 질, 정보제공 형태, 앞선 정보탐색 성공 경험 여부 등이 식별되었다. 나아가 정보원에 대한 인식 변화를 비롯하여 정보원 이용 빈도를 파악할 수 있었다. 이를 토대로 사회과 교사를 위한 정보서비스로 다양한 유형의 자료 통합제공 서비스, 정보 리터러시 교육, 인적 네트워크 서비스, 도서추천서비스 등을 제안하였다.

LBSNS에서 연속 질의 빈도 감소를 위한 가상그리드 기법의 설계 및 구현 (A Design and Implementation of Virtual Grid for Reducing Frequency of Continuous Query on LBSNS)

  • 웹 상에서 사용자들 간의 관계(Relation)를 통해 인적 네트워크를 형성할 수 있게 해주는 온라인 서비스를 SNS(Social Networking Services)라고 한다. 최근에는 GPS가 내장된 디지털장치(스마트 폰, 태블릿 PC 등)를 통해 획득한 위치 정보를 SNS에 추가한 LBSNS(Location-Based SNS) 서비스에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 사용자가 원하는 관심지역의 정보만을 구독하는 LBSNS 서비스를 구현하기 위해서는 공간필터링 기법이 요구된다. 공간필터링을 위해서는 트윗에 위치정보를 포함해야 한다. 위치정보는 사용자의 이동에 따라 함께 변하는 동적정보로 표현되거나 최초위치에서 고정되는 정적정보로 표현될 수 있다. 동적 위치정보를 사용할 경우 사용자의 이동에 따라 연속적으로 공간 필터링 질의가 발생하므로 서버에 많은 부하를 줄 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 동적 위치정보로 인해 대량으로 발생하는 연속질의 문제를 해결하기 위해서 가상그리드 기법을 이용한 공간필터링 알고리즘을 제안한다. 성능평가 결과 가상그리드 기법을 활용한 경우 질의 발생빈도 측면에서 최고 93%성능이 개선되었다.

B2C 트위터를 통한 고객참여행위가 기업충성도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Customer Participation Behavior on Brand Loyalty via B2C Microblogging)

  • Recently a large number of people have been using social networking and microblogging services such as Facebook and Twitter. These mediums play a pivotal communication channel in a business-to-customer (B2C) relationship. Given its importance in today's business, companies have invested in the strategic application of social network services to reach out to customers. This study provides a blueprint for mechanisms for successful execution of social network services in the context of developing an effective B2C relationship, such as customer participation behavior. The S-O-R(Stimulus-Organism-Response) framework lays out the foundation for developing our research model and provides a structured view for understanding customer participation behavior on brand loyalty. For the methodology, this study employed a mixed-method approach. Additionally, in order to provide empirical evidences, a total of 121 respondents have completed the survey. All the data were compiled and analyzed through structural equation modeling and were implemented in partial least square (PLS). To sum up, this study presented theoretical and practical implications by providing the effect of customer participation behavior on brand loyalty through B2C microblogging.

Why do We Share Information? Explaining Information Sharing Behavior through a New Conceptual Model between Sharer to Receiver within SNS

  • Social networking services (SNS) is an indispensable method in order to obtain information of the Internet participants. The study identified three variables of social media communication, sharing culture, and online trust in terms of social capital theory (SCT) and reviewed intention& behavior variables in terms of theory of planned behavior (TPB). The data were collected from 330 samples of SNS user, and were involved, and the research model uses AMOS to make confirmatory factor analysis. The findings confirmed our hypothesis that social media communication, sharing culture, and online trust affect individuals' behaviors to sharing information. This study emphasizes that not only social media communication but also sharing culture to SNS can stimulate information sharing. while previous research has predominately focused on personal cognition or social network, the study examines the integrated influence of communication, culture and trust on information sharing in SNS. In sum, by explicating the unique role of social capital, this paper aims at contributing to the continued development and success of SNS in general.
