  • The Cutting slope is to be minimized when a tunnel meets the contour of slope terrain at a right angle around its portal. However, a tunnel portal has been generally installed at a right angle to the longitudinal axis of a tunnel with no consideration of the intersection angle with the slope terrain. This sometimes tended to cause huge cutting slope that resulted in many disadvantage in terms of safty, economy and environment. Therefore, the minimization of cutting slope is studied by taking the intersection angle into account, and the result is compared with that by the conventional method. In addition a design method for the inclined portal to the tunnel axis is proposed through 3D-FEM analysis, also the applicable ground condition is suggested.

  • This paper deal with the stability evaluation and suggestion of progressive failure slope in biotite granite area of Andong. Based on geological site investigation and field test, stability analysis of slope was performed in conjunction with limit equilibrium methods and stereographic projection. Additionally, initial design and construction procedure was critically evaluated. Series of the slope stability analysis reveals the detection of local wedge and plane failure under the current slope condition. It is additionally appeared that a certain synthetic behavior of circle and plane failure exists on the right spot where the overall failure's going in progress. In order to construct more stable slope based on the suitability for the real state of the slope circumstances, this study issues a solution to eliminate the primary factors which cause the instability, by means of the grade of weathering and RMR classification of rock mass.

  • In this study, a documentary survey, face mapping, and stability analysis were performed on the collapsed colluvial soil slope. The purpose of this paper is to identify the cause of slope failure and determine slope stability for similar areas. Boring samples were extracted from the slump and laboratory tests were performed to find out the cause of slope failure. In addition, the limit equilibrium method was used in order to determine the stability of the slope. As a result of this investigation and the analysis of data, the type of collapse and cause of slope failure have been shown to have a strong correlation with the natural geographical and geological features which make up the collapse profile of the study area. These results will help to develop guidelines for formulating countermeasure methods.

  • Inventory survey is process collecting data about cut slope. It's different from inspection. Collected data are being used get at status about cut slope along national roads. And we analyse between current situation and data about collapse slope. It helps finding better method about maintenance of cut slope. We found changes in the situation between data at present and data at 10 years ago. We will research collapse and counterplan by cause.

  • Techniques for rock slope management and assessment must be developed for the prevention and mitigation of rock fall hazards. To enable this, the rock discontinuity such as fault and joint data must be surveyed, analysed and managed. For this, the discontinuities were detected by automatic and semi-automatic method using DEM and ortho-rectified image of rock slope and the rock slope analysis and management system was developed using GIS. Using the system, slope locations and discontinuities data were constructed to spatial database. The system is consist of ‘Data Management’, ‘Rock Slope DB’, ‘Basic Information’, ‘Image Processing’, ‘Image Analys ing’, ‘Edit’, ‘View’, ‘Theme’, ‘Graphic’, ‘Window’ and ‘Help’. The system was developed using avenue of ArcView 3.2.

  • Although it is currently conducting slope management and research using digital technologies such as drones, big data, and artificial intelligence, it is still somewhat insufficient and is still vulnerable to slope failure. For this reason, it is inevitable to present the development direction for research on prediction and analysis of slope failure using the digital technologies to effectively deal with slope failure, which requires a preemptive understanding of prediction and analysis of slope failure. In this paper, we collected literature data based on the Web of Science for five years from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020 and analyzed by co-word analysis to identify the domain structure of research on prediction and analysis of slope failure. Detailed subject areas were identified through network analysis, and the domain relationships between keywords were visualized to derive global and regionally oriented keywords through relationship, centrality analysis. In addition, the clusters formed by performing cluster analysis were displayed on the multidimensional scailing map, and the domain structure according to the correlation between each keyword was presented. The results of this study reveal the domain structure of research on prediction and analysis of slope failure, and are expected to be usefully used to find future research directions.

  • The study of seepage behavior is very important to slope stability of road landfill for heavy rainfall season. This study is done to propose more stable of road landfill based on analysis of seepage behavior and slope stability for some cases of road landfill. The selected sections of collapsed road landfill are most general case of road landfill, a case is landfill on the ground area and another case is on the slope area. The results of this study is summarized as follows. It is founded that the road landfill on the ground area is increased saturation region due to rainfall infiltration, and the seepage behavior of road landfill is solved by theory of unsaturated flow. The road landfill is more unstable due to rainfall infiltration at the slope surface, especially during heavy rainfall. The case of road landfill on the slope area is analyzed in consideration of slope surface infiltration, and it is founded that the slope instability is increased because of rainfall infiltration. The drain layer located on the original ground which made by more permeable materials could be good action of slope stability in the case of road landfill on the slope area.

  • The length of study area was about 450m, and it was shown the geological condition of distinguished change of rock by cutting slope. In order to establish a slope stability, we carried out an engineering geological investigations about rock constituent, rock structure and a direction of discontinuous plane. The study area was divided into six section considered by direction of cutting slope, height of slope and geological condition. Analysis of cutting slope stability was carried out with stereo-graphic projection method by DIPS program which was feasible of stability analysis with geometrical correlation for a direction of discontinuous plane and direction of cutting slope. From analysis of cutting slope stability considered by construction, stability and economical efficiency, the slope stability countermeasures such as a high tensile wire net, slope protection method and enhanced retaining wall were established and operated which minimized effect caused by lower end of road on a relaxation of huge rock.

  • The lapse of time may cause in the slope structure various deterioration phenomenon progresses in the ground of slope, and collapse due to deterioration of strength, resulting in a decrease in the service life. The approach to slope stability due to the ground deterioration is a different concept from the existing limit equilibrium analysis, which is limited to the physical characteristics and geometrical structure of ground. In this study, we conducted a comparative analysis of various literature studies related to the slope failure characteristics and behaviors to presented the optimal formulas for shear strength reduction, such as the exponential function, the logarithmic function and the inverse hyperbolic function. And then a case study was performed on cut slope of Gyeongbu High Speed Rail construction site along the Yangsan fault zone, where the slope failure of shale layer vulnerable to deterioration occurred. As a result, it was confirmed that landslide occurred due to reduction of shear strength by deterioration, as safety factor is approx. 1.0 at the time when the slope failure occurred. Based on the comprehensive case study, as a quantitative approach to the evaluation of slope stability due to deterioration of ground, finally we propose a method for evaluating slope stability with optimal strength reduction curves.

  • In slope stability analysis for landslides, mountains have various slopes and geographical features, and hence it is necessary to estimate stability using rigorous analysis methods. In this study, after the analysis of infiltration behavior through unsaturated layers due to rainfall, the stability of landslide was estimated to account for the variation of pore water pressures. In the analysis of slope stability, a three-dimensional slope analysis was compared with an infinite slope analysis in a case study of terrain in which an actual landslide occurred. In the three-dimensional slope stability analysis, it was found that the location of the failure and the failure area were predicted accurately based on the detailed geological information despite the variation of geographical features.
