  • We establish multiplicity results for positive solutions to the Schrödinger-type singular positone problem: -∆u + V (x)u = λf(u) in Ω, u = 0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a bounded domain in ℝN, N > 2, λ is a positive parameter, V ∈ L(Ω) and f : [0, ∞) → (0, ∞) is a continuous function. In particular, when f is sublinear at infinity we discuss the existence of at least three positive solutions for a certain range of λ. The proofs are mainly based on the sub- and supersolution method.

  • In this paper, we prove the existence of nontopological solutions to the self-dual equations arising from the Chern-Simons gauged O(3) sigma models. The property of solutions depends on a parameter ${\tau}{\in}[-1,1]$ appearing in the nonlinear term. The case ${\tau}=1$ lies on the borderline for the existence of solutions in the previous results [4, 5, 7]. We prove the existence of solutions in this case when there are only vortex points. Moreover, if $-1{\leq}{\tau}$<1, we establish solutions which are perturbed from the solutions of singular Liouville equations.

  • Dynamic instability of beams subjected to periodic axial forces is studied using the discrete singular convolution (DSC) method with the regularized Shannon's delta kernel. The principal regions of dynamic instability under different boundary conditions are examined in detail, and the non-stationary vibrations near the stability-instability critical regions have been investigated. It is found that the results obtained by using the DSC method are consistent with the analytical solutions, which shows that the DSC algorithm is suitable for the problems considered in this study. It was found that there is a narrow region of beat vibration existed in the vicinity of one side (${\theta}/{\Omega}$ > 1) of the boundaries of the instable region for each condition.

  • We prove existence and regularity results of solutions for a class of nonlinear singular elliptic problems like $$\{-div\((a(x)+{\mid}u{\mid}^q){\nabla}u\)=\frac{f}{{\mid}u{\mid}^{\gamma}}{\text{ in }}{\Omega},\\{u=0\;on\;{\partial}{\Omega},$$ where Ω is a bounded open subset of ℝℕ(N ≥ 2), a(x) is a measurable nonnegative function, q, > 0 and the source f is a nonnegative (not identicaly zero) function belonging to Lm(Ω) for some m ≥ 1. Our results will depend on the summability of f and on the values of q, > 0.

  • We find a regularity criterion for the Ostwald-de Waele models like Serrin's condition to the Navier-Stokes equations. Moreover, we show short time existence and estimate the Hausdorff dimension of the set of singular times for the weak solutions.

  • In this paper, our main purpose is to establish the existence of positive bounded entire solutions of second order quasilinear elliptic equation on $R^N$. we obtained the results under different suitable conditions on the locally H$\"{o}$lder continuous nonlinearity f(x, u), we needn't any mono-tonicity condition about the nonlinearity.

  • There are various aspects of the solution of boundary-value problems for second-order linear elliptic equations in two independent variables. One useful method of solving such boundary-value problems for Laplace's equation is by means of suitable integral representations of solutions and these representations are obtained most directly in terms of particular singular solutions, termed Green's functions.(omitted)

  • This paper presents the continuation power flow system that is under development. The continuation power flow system provides robust solutions of power flow equations at any operating point. The robust convergency enables one to find solutions even at the point where power flow jacobian becomes singular. Basic concept of an algorithm and its application to static voltage stability analysis are presented.

  • This paper is concerned with the radial solutions of a nonlinear elliptic equation ∆pu + |x|𝑙1 |u|q1-1 u + |x|𝑙2 |u|q2-1 u = 0, x ∈ ℝN, where p > 2, N ≥ 1, q2 > q1 ≥ 1, -p < 𝑙2 < 𝑙1 ≤ 0 and -N < 𝑙2 < 𝑙1 ≤ 0. We prove the existence of global solutions, we give their classification and we present the explicit behavior of positive solutions near the origin and infinity.
