A Study on Requirements for the Automation of Standardized Rebar Shop Drawing (표준화된 철근배근도 작성 자동화를 위한 필요 사항에 관한 연구)

  • An automation of standardized rebar shop drawing is necessary for easy application by improving workability, prompt preparation to field change request and easy revisions of shop drawing. Through investigating problem of current rebar shop drawing, we found that standardization of reinforcing detail, standardization of rebar expression and automation of rebar shop drawing program for the sake of designer is needed. We will investigate disagreement of reinforcing detail between building code and how worker build structure for standardization of reinforcing detail, demands of companies participated in rebar process for standardization of rebar expression and proper algorithm with selectable level of inputting data for automation of rebar shop drawing program for the sake of designer.

  • This study proposes a method of generating steel house shop drawing in an automated design method, reducing construction manpower and period. With one hour fire-resistant approval code, reflecting work ability and efficiency, steel-framed house market is expected to extend from one or two story house to multi-purpose facilities up to four story height. More models have been constructed in this system than the first appearance of fire-resistant approval in Korea in 1997. Also, cost estimation of components such as frame walls, roof trusses and floors is obtained with shop drawings. Also, the lack of suppliers of steel framed house shop drawing and unstandardized drawing method get constructors have difficulty in understanding its design. In steel framed house industry, shop drawings are essential part in building and constructing framework and they have major effects on construction deadlines and expenses. By exploring method of shop drawing automation, this study aims to optimize work flow with a standardized drawing method. The proposed system can be applied to manufacturing automation in domestic industry of factory-built panelizing method in the near future.

  • Shop drawing tasks conducted after finishing coordinated or engineering design have great influences on the quality and cost of a project. However, despite the development of commercial BIM applications, shop drawings have mainly produced manually in certain engineering fields. Incorrect shop drawings with human errors have occurred various problems such as cost overrun, time delay and reworks. An automated shop drawing publishing from BIM is expected to resolve these problems. Despite attempts for automate shop drawing production, the field of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) is yet regarded challenging due to complexity of components and connection. In this research, we develop a process for automated producing 3D MEP shop drawings in BIM environment as following steps: to analyze conventional MEP shop drawing process, to identify detailed process that can be automated, to classify existing MEP objects and assign codes usable in BIM, and to develop an application. The validation of automated process is conducted against 10 clean room projects in which MEP is more complex and its cost is higher than other projects in terms of productivity and workers' satisfaction. Results show that the number of manpower for shop drawing is reduced by 30%, and the working time is shortened by 31%. Personal opinions of involved practitioners is interpreted as positive as the average rate of agrement on practicability, easy-to-use and necessary retouch tasks is around 66%.

  • In construction of RC buildings, the quality of shop and detail drawings is very essential for the quality and safety of buildings. Nevertheless, most of thess works are left to site workers and the requirements about bar detailing such as anchorage and splice have been done without rational design and engineering. The purpose of this research is to develop a computer-aided drawing system of rebars for RC buildings. The system is based on an integrated structural design system, that is SDP. SDP manages an engineering database for structural design information. It provides all the information needed to draw rebar drawings. The drawing system consists of three modules, 1) Structual Plan Drawing System, 2) Shop Drawing System, and 3) Detail Drawing System. It is expected that not only the productivity of detail drawing works but also the quality and safety of buildings will be improved using the rebar drawing system developed in this research.

  • In this paper, we propose a CAD software framework to automatically generate a shop drawing. Shop drawing is to draw the geometric figures representing an arrangement of steel bars for a concrete building on its structural design, based on its construction specifications and the design rules, and its well-formed process lead to be automated. A key point of the design automation is to minimize the user interactions by automatically recognizing the design specifications and to finally generate the shape of the geometric figures. The graphic pipeline of the proposed framework consists of four stages; a specification DB, specification extraction, binding, and rendering. To effectively extract all specifications only for a figure from the DB and bind them to its shape, we use a hierarchical approach; the specifications are classified into three common, structural, and figure classes, and each attribute is extracted in design phases. Based on our framework, we implemented a specialized CAD for shop drawing using AutoCAD and could easily update it according to user's demands.

  • These brief studies and reports of the use of exposed aggrigate precast concrete in practice are combined with a description of some notable co-ordination such as shop drawing, manufacturing and erection in the field construction. Above mentioned exposed aggrigate P. C. means architectural P. C. which was used to the VOTRAKON site in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fabricated P. C. on the site without autoclaving and steam curing plant had been successfully carried out on this project-core building, conference room and others. The project designed by HOPE/VTN international INC. which is located in San Diego, California U.S.A. stands for vocational training and related support facilities contract. We had to submit shop drawings showing complete information for fabrication and installation of P. C. unit reinforcement. Also we should be indicated member dimension and cross section, location size and type of necessary for erection. We can delineate the following characteristic results. One of the most important things how to handle exposed aggrigate P.C. unit as specified was quality assurance and co-ordination for shop drawing, manufacturing and erection.

Checklists for Construction Drawings of Office Buildings based on Working Drawing Analysis (공사용도면 현황분석에 기반한 일반업무시설 실시설계도면 체크리스트 개선방안)

  • Currently the quality of construction drawings is deteriorated due to restrictions on time costs allowed to the design phase. Moreover shop drawings are arbitrarily produced without the standard criteria, and cleared off after the completion of construction. As a result, the information of produced shop drawings is not feedback to the design phase, and the quality of the construction drawings become worse. This study proposes checklists that include information requested at construction sites and the shop drawings as well as the existing checklists for the construction drawings. The checklists integrate designer's check-items according to breakdown of drawings and contractor's check-items base don construction process. Index matrices of the integrated checklists is developed for practical application of the checklists, and validated through intensive interview with design and construction practitioners.

  • 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 기하 프로그램으로 가장 널리 활용되고 있는 GSP(The Geometer's Sketchpad)를 사용하여 사영기하학의 성질을 반영하는 투시화법(perspective drawing)으로 펜션을 작도하였다. 2000년에 버전 3.1로 작도하였을 때 한 점 투시화법(one-point perspective drawing)으로만 완성된 집을 보였고, 두 점 투시화법(two-point perspective drawing)으로는 미완성된 집이었다. 새로운 버전 4.0은 그 기능이 탁월하게 향상되었으므로 어렵지 않게 두 점 투시화법으로 집을 완성하였고 또한 photo -shop 7.0을 사용하여 아름다운 펜션으로 장식하여 보았다.
