As a method to understand the ecological habits around the artificial reef, various reports such as fishing gear survey, diving, sound survey, underwater CCTV and camera, etc. are reported. Among them, the sound survey method is carried out by installing an acoustic system on the ship and can be investigated regardless of the marine environment such as time constraints and turbidity. Such method, however, takes a lot of manpower and time as the ship travels at a constant speed. Investigations around artificial reefs are being conducted in an artificial way, and a lot of time and labor are consumed as such. Maritime buoys have been operated for various purposes such as route signs, weather observation, marine environment monitoring and defense monitoring for navigation safety in the past, but studies on monitoring systems for ecological habits and distribution of fish using marine buoys are remarkably insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to develop a system that allows users to directly monitor fish group detector data by estimating the distribution of fish groups around artificial reefs and using wireless communication at sea. In order to confirm the suitability of the maritime buoy used in this study, it was operated to compare data using LTE-equipped buoys capable of wireless communication and a data logger-type system buoy. Data transmission of buoys capable of LTE communication was carried out in a 10-minute ON, 10-minute OFF method due to the limitation of the power supply capacity, and data of the data logger-type buoy received full data. We compared and analyzed the data received from the two fish detectors. It is expected that real-time monitoring of the wireless buoy detection device using LTE will be possible through future research.

This work aims to introduce the concept of microcomputer aided port design simulation methodology including the analysis of the mathematical models to be implemented and apply it to the Third Stage Busan Part Development Project. In the Busan case study the size of the proposed turning basin of the new terminal together with the operational stra-tegies of berthing and unberthing was examined In addition the safety of ships' entry and exit through the projection new breakwaters was as-certained. From the application of simulation to the Busan project it was found that the proposed dredging area was not sufficiently wide enough for a modelled container ship to perform A type unberthing (in which the ship turns to port as she monoeuvres away from No.1 berth with the ass-istance of tuges) especially in a strong easterly wind., It is therefore recommended that Busan pilots should be advised to use B type unberthing strategy in which the ship goes astern from No.1 berth to the turning area in front of No.2 berth(where the ship turns 180 degrees clockwise) especially when the wind is very strong. It is also recommended that a sea buoy be placed outside the new breakwaters as this was found to im-prove the safety of ship manoeuvres through the breakwaters significant-ly. Another recommendation is that the Korean Hydrodynamic Office carry out a detailed survey of the currents in the water area near the new breakwaters. once they have been constructed. In addition it is to be recommended that a current meter be placed at the recommended sea buoy pardised by erroneous current information

Ministry of oceans and Fisheries declared action plan for the electric fishing gear using real name in order to prevent overusing the fishing gear and to reduce discarded fishing gear. It is needed for a technique that can efficiently transmit the information including the type and location of the fishing gear and the user's real name to the fishing boat and the control center using IoT-based communication. In this paper, we propose the buoy-launched terminal equipment and ship-launched gateway equipment based on LoRa technology for effectively executing the electric fishing gear using real name. We design and fabricate to communicate 1(gateway):200(buoy) each other under 900 MHz ISM band by using SEMTECH SX1276 chip. Also, we experiment the test on the sea and analyze the test results to prove the implementation possibility of the proposed equipments for the electric fishing gear using real name.
This paper shows the design and fabrication of antenna embedded in marine buoy for marine IoT service, especially automatic identification system of fishing gears. Frequency band of proposed antenna has dual band of 433 MHz and 920 MHz considering marine IoT extension. Dual pattern monopole type for 920 MHz and meander type for 433 MHz are adopted in the proposed antenna. Voltage standing wave ratio is obtained 1.548 at 433 MHz and obtained 1.5 of mean value at 920 MHz band by measuring the fabricated antenna. The maximum antenna gain of 3.83 dBi is measured at 902 MHz among 920 MHz band, while antenna gain of 433 MHz is obtained 1.18 dBi. Although antenna gain of 433 MHz is low than 920 MHz band, this gain is larger than desired value of -5 dBi. And, it is confirmed that other measured values meet the performance criteria for archiving communication distance of 10 km between marine buoy and fishing ship in automatic identification system of fishing gears.

Floating LiDAR is a system that provides a new paradigm for wind condition observation, which is essential when creating an offshore wind farm. As it can save time and money, minimize environmental impact, and even reduce backlash from local communities, it is emerging as the industry standard. However, the design and verification of a stable platform is very important, as disturbance factors caused by fluctuations of the buoy affect the reliability of observation data. In Korea, due to the nation's late entry into the technology, a number of foreign equipment manufacturers are dominating the domestic market. The west coast of Korea is a shallow sea environment with a very large tidal difference, so strong currents repeatedly appear depending on the region, and waves of strong energy that differ by season are formed. This paper conducted a study examining buoys suitable for LiDAR operation in the waters of Korea, which have such complex environmental characteristics. In this paper, we will introduce examples of optimized design and verification of ship-type buoys, which were applied first, and derive important concepts that will serve as the basis for the development of various platforms in the future.
This work aims to introduce the concept of microcomputer aided port design simulation methodology including the analysis of the mathematical models to be implemented and apply it to the Third Stage Busan Port Development Project. In the Busan case study, the size of the proposed turning basin of the new terminal, together with the operational strategies of berthing and unberthing, was examined, In addition, the safety on ship's entry and exit through the projected new breakwaters was ascertained. From the application of simulation to the Busan project, it was found that the proposed dredging area was not sufficiently wide enough for the modelled container ship to perform A time unberthing (in which the ship turns to port as she manoeuvres away from N.1. Berth with the assistance of tugs), especially in a strong easterly wind. It is therefore, recommended that Busan pilots should be advised to sue B type unberthing strategy, in which the ship goes astern from no.1 berth tot he turning area in front of No.2 berth(where the ship turns 180 degrees clockwise), especially when the wind is very strong, It is also recommended that a sea buoy be placed outside the new breakwaters, as this was found to improve the safety of ship manoeuvres through the breakwaters significantly . Another recommendation is that the Korean hydrodynamic Office carry out a detailed survey of the currents in the water area near the new breakwaters once they have been constructed. In addition, it is to be recommended that a current meter be placed at the recommended sea buoy to improve the safety of ship manoeuvres which could otherwise be jeopardised by eeroneos current information.
In the restricted sea way such as fair way in harbor, narrow channel etc, the safe ship-handling is a very important problem, which is greatly related with turning ability of ships. It is of great importance that ship-handlers can grasp the position of pivoting point varying with time increase at any moment for relevant steering activities. Mean while, in advanced ship-building countries they study and investigated pivoting point related with turning characteristics, hut their main interest lies in ship design, not in safe ship controlling and maneuvering. In this regards it is the purpose of this paper to provide ship-handlers better under standing of pivoting point location together with turning characteristics and then to help them in safe ship-handling by presenting fact that pivoting points vary according to configuration of ships. The author calculated the variation of pivoting point as per time increase for various type of vessels, based on the hydrodynamic derivatives obtained at test of Davidson Laboratory of Stevens Institutes of Technology , New Jersey, U.S.A. The results were classified and investigated according to the magnitude of block coefficient , length-beam ratio, length-draft ratio, rudder area ratio ete, and undermentioned results were obtained. (1) The trajectory of pivoting point due to variation of rudder angle are all the same at any time, though the magenitude of turning circle are changed variously. (2) The moving of pivoting point is affected by the magnitude of block coefficient, length-beam ratio, length-draft ratio, however the effect by rudder area ratio might be disregarded. (3) In controlling and maneuvering of vessels in harbor, ship-handlers might regard that the pivoting point would be placed on 0.2~0.3L forward from center of gravity at initial stage. (4) The pivoting point of VLCC or container feeder vessels which have block coefficient more than 0.8 and length-beam ratio less than 6.5 are located on or over bow in the steady turning. (5) When a vessel intends to avoid some floating obstruction such as buoy forward around her eourse, the ship-handler might consider that the pivoting point would be close by bow in ballast condition and cloase by center of gravity in full-loaded condition.
The paper first describes the atmospheric correction algorithm for the Ocean Color and Temperature Scanner (OCTS) visible band data used at Earth Observation Center (EOC) of National Space Development Agenrr of japan (NASDA). It uses 10 candidate aerosol models including "Asian dust model" introduced in consideration of the unique feature of aerosols over the east Asian waters. Based on the observations at 670 and 865 nm bands where the reflectance of the water body can be discarded, the algorithm selects a pair of aerosol models that accounts best for the observed spectral reflectances to synthesize the aerosol reflectance in other bands. The paper also evaluates the performance of the algorithm by comparing the satellite estimates of water-leaving radiance and chlorophyll-a concentration with selected buoy- and ship-measured data. In comparison with the old CZCS-type atmospheric correction algorithm where the aerosol reflectance is assumed to be spectrally independent, the OCTS algorithm records factor 2-3 less error in estimating the normalized water-leaving radiances. In terms of chlorophyll-a concentration estimation, however, the accuracy stays very similar compared to that of the CZCS-type algorithm. This is considered to be due to the nature of in-water algorithm which relies on spectral ratio of water-leaving radiances.
To install a radar reflector on small ships, such as a small fishing vessel, a fishery buoy, and a barge ship for fishery, it is very important to develop the optimal system which may determine a proper installation location. For this, the response characteristics how waves have an effect on the small ships should be accurately analyzed. In this paper, we analyze the dynamic behaviors of small ships, which may be caused by irregular waves. To do this, we investigate how a barge ship responses to wavelength, water depth, and directions of incoming waves. The analyzed results shall be utilized to evaluate an effect on a radar cross section when we install an radar reflector on a barge ship for fishery and a small ship.
