  • I present a datuming scheme for poststack data that uses wavefield depth extrapolation. The method I have developed allows the use of any depth extrapolation technique, such as phase-shift, split-step, and finite-difference extrapolation. I derive the datuming algorithms by transposing and taking the complex conjugate (i.e. taking adjoint) of the corresponding forward modeling operator, which does upward extrapolation from a flat surface to an irregular surface. The exact adjoint relation between the forward modeling operator and the datuming operator is demonstrated algebraically. Testing the poststack datuming algorithms with synthetic data, using several depth extrapolation algorithms, has shown that the method works well.

  • A forklift is a powered industrial vehicle used to lift and move materials over short distances. Nowadays, almost all forklifts are equipped with an automatic transmission due to its improved operator comfort and increased productivity. Thanks to marked improvement of transmission control unit equipped with highly-advanced microcontrollers, recently developed automatic transmission for forklift have various auxiliary functions such as creep, auto retardation, and automatic shift with excellent shift quality. This paper deals with the creep function which enables one to maneuver a forklift at the designated low speed by slip control of clutches. The design of creep function was based on four modes of creep operation depending on the status of the operator's shift lever and accelerator pedal. Control algorithms and control parameters for each mode were designed to achieve the desired static and dynamic performance. Vehicle test for the designed creep function was carried out with an independently developed embedded controller. Test results confirmed good creep speed control without speed error at a steady state with a mild shift shock during mode changes by stepping or releasing the accelerator.

  • It is shown that for a general Haar shift operator, and a weight in the $A_2$ weight class, we establish the weighted norm estimate which linearly depends on $A_2$-characteristic $[w]_{A_2}$. Although the result is now well known, we introduce the new method, which is called the iterated Bellman function method, to provide the estimate.

  • In this note we examine the effects on subnormality of adding a new weight or changing some weights for a given subnormal weighted shift. We consider a subnormal weighted shift with a positive point mass at the origin by means of continuous functions. Finally, we introduce some methods for evaluating point mass at the origin about moment measures associated with weighted shifts.

  • The m-isometry of a single operator in Agler and Stankus [3] was naturally generalized to the m-isometric tuple of several commuting operators by Gleason and Richter [22]. Some examples of m-isometric tuples including the recently much studied Arveson-Drury d-shift were given in [22]. We provide more examples of m-isometric tuples of operators by using sums of operators or products of operators or functions of operators. A class of m-isometric tuples of unilateral weighted shifts parametrized by polynomials are also constructed. The examples in Gleason and Richter [22] are then obtained by choosing some specific polynomials. This work extends partially results obtained in several recent papers on the m-isometry of a single operator.

  • The simulator of a vehicle equipped with mechanical transmission and hydraulic accumulator type-braking energy regeneration system is developed using a PC. The simulator receives the shift lever position, the accelerator pedal angle and the brake pedal angle generated by the operator using the keyboard, updates the state variables of the energy regeneration system responding to the input signals, and draws the moving pictures of the accumulator piston and pump/motor plate angle every drawing time on the PC monitor. Also, the operator can observe the shift lever position, the accel pedal angle, brake pedal angle, pressures of accumulators, vehicle speed, hydraulic torque, engine torque and air brake torque representing the operation of braking energy regeneration system through the PC monitor every drawing time. The simulator can be a very useful tool to design and improve the braking energy regeneration system.
