  • 1. The sixty raised shepherd and sixty-five inhoused pet dogs in the regions of Daejon and Cheongju were subjected to investigate the TB infection by means of BCG and X-ray diagnosis. The 5 out of 65 inhoused pet and 7 out of 60 shepherd dogs were observed to be infected with TB, respectively. However, none of Mycobacterium species were detected from lung tissues of 4-slaughtered dogs showing BCG positive reaction. 2. The rats were first inoculated with 0.1ml BCG, and then 0.1ml M bovis suspended solution($1{\times}10^5$ organisms/0.2ml) 3weeks later. After 5 months, the animals were killed. The pathohistological results from both groups, TB inoculated and BCG treated groups, were observed on the surface of lung. Furthermore, the severe pathological lesion in the Iung was observed in M bovis inoculated group compared to BCG treated group. 3. The slight macrophage invasion and granuloma formation in the lung from BCG treated group were observe individually. However, it was confirmed that the lung from M bovis treated group was invaded by the macrophages and neutrophils combined with the granuloma formation. 4. When the numbers of the total cells taken from broncho-alvealar fluid in each of mouse from both groups were differentially counted, the number of total cell, neutrophils, and lymphocytes from M bovis treated group were significantly increase compared with those of BCG treated group. 5. Although there were nearly no response of the alveolar macrophages to CSF in serum obtained from control group, those from M boris treated group were significantly proliferated.

  • The ductus arteriosus (Botallo's duct) is a vascular communication between the pulmonary artery near its bifurcation and the aorta distal to the origin of the left subclavian artery. A surgical operation was tried in the shepherd dog which was affected by patent ductus arteriosus. The patient was six months old and weighed about 11kg. Pentobarbital sodium, 26 mg/kg was used intravascularly for the anesthesia. And then a respirator was used for the patient. The thoracotomy incision was made over the fourth intercostal space on the left and the ductus arteriosus was ligated twice. But the patient revealed ventricular fibrillation at three minutes after ligations of ductus arteriosus. So the cardiac massage was done after incision of pericardium and then the defibrillator was used for the defibrillation. But the patient was not recovered without effect. It was considered that if there is complication or cyanosis, the adaptability of surgical operation should be specially considered. Histologically, chronic passive congestion of liver was observed.

  • Recently, as social distancing have been raised due to the re-spread of COVID-19, the number of serial entrepreneurs who are closing their business is rapidly increasing. Learning from failure is a source of success, but business failure can result in psychological and economic losses and negative emotions of the serial entrepreneur. At this point, it is very important to find a way to recover the negative emotions caused by business failures of serial entrepreneurs. Recently, a strategic model has emerged to deal with the negative emotions of grief caused by business failures of serial entrepreneurs. This study identified the recovery factors from the grief of business failures of serial entrepreneurs and analyzed Shepherd's(2003) three areas: loss orientation, restoration orientation, and dual process. To this end, individual in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 small business serial entrepreneurs who challenged re-startup to identify the attributes of recovery factors that were not identified with quantitative data. As a result of the study, first, recovery factors were investigated in three areas: individual orientation, family orientation, and network orientation. It was found to help improve recovery in nine categories: self-esteem, persistence, personal competence, hobbies, self-confidence, family support, networks, religion, and social support. Second, recovery obstacle factors were investigated in three areas: psychological, economic, and environmental factors. Nine categories including family, health, social network, business partner, competitor, partner, fund, external environment, and government policy were found to persist negative emotions. Third, the emotional processing process for grief was investigated in three areas: loss orientation, restoration orientation, and dual process. Ten categories such as family, partner support, social member support, government support, hobbies, networks, change of business field, moving, third-party perspective, and meditation were confirmed to enhance rapid recovery in the emotional processing process for grief. The implications of this study are as follows. The process of recovering from the grief caused by business failures of serial entrepreneurs was attempted by a qualitative study. By extending the theory of Shepherd(2003), This study can be applied to help with recovery research. In addition, conceptual models and propositions for future empirical research were presented, which can be discussed in carious academic ways.

  • I tried here to interpret german fairy tale "Three Dogs" from the aspect of analytical psychology. A poor young shepherd will be 'hero'accidently while wandering the world to find good luck. When he was exhausted and frustrated in wandering life, a stranger appeared before him. A stranger offered barter. So he exchanged three sheep with three black dogs which a stranger had. One dog can bring the food. Another dog can tear everything. The last one can break even steel and iron. After that, shepherd led a satisfactory wandering life. On the way, he met a sad princess who should sacrifice herself for the piece of the country to the dragon which swallows a young girl yearly. But the strong black dog which tears everything, killed the dragon and saved the princess from the sacrifice. After that, a young shepherd promised princess to come back to her after three years of wandering life. In the meanwhile a horse driver played hero false. But the princess couldn't reveal the truth because of the threat of horse driver. Three years later, the young shepherd appeared in the castle. But the true hero was caught in the prison and finally cried out the strongest dog and succeeded in escaping from the prison. And with help of another dog which bring food to him, he could meet the princess and finally married her. So they lived happy life for a long time. But he remembered the poor younger sister. So he wanted to live together with her. After that, three dogs left him with saying, they stayed to see whether he shares his good fortune with his younger sister. Then they turned into birds and disappeared in the air. In this fairy tale can we find many important symbols. With the amplification of symbols and the interpretation of this fairy tale in terms of Jung's analytical psychology, I tried to find the meaning of individuation process in this fairy tale. Hero kills the dragon which could symbolize negative mother archetype. After overcoming the negative mother complex, he could get princess which could be expressive of Anima. This marriage could symbolize coniunctio oppositorum, an important process in individuation. Each fairy tale tells us the individuation process in a different way. And the fairy tale works always in our mind with plain, simple, pure, crystal like nature. Through it can we take precious treasure like wisdom for life.

  • In order to enhance the repair of defects in articular cartilage via cell therapy with autologous chondrocytes, as well as with periosteum-derived progenitor cells (PDPCs), silkworm hemolymph (SH) and a variety of cartilage-specific extracellular matrices (ECMs) including type II collagen, proline, chondroitin 4-sulfate, and chondroitin 6-sulfate were assessed with regard to their efficacy as media supplements. SH, a known anti-apoptotic agent, was found to enhance cell growth, as was shown by the results of a 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. According to the results of reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analyses, the cartilage-specific ECMs were found to stimulate the expression of hyaline cartilage-specific genes, most notably type II collagen and Sox9, in monolayer cultures of PDPCs.

  • Prevalence of microfilariae, Dirofilaria immitis, Dirofilaria repens, Acanthocheilonema dracunculoides from 506 German Shepherd dogs reared in Korea was investigated by modified Knott's test to detect circulating microfilaria and by acid-phosphatase staining for differentiation of each microfilaria species. In the modified Knott's test, 74 of 506 dogs (14.6%) were microfilaria positive, and the prevelance of each species of microfilaria was 90.5% (67 of 74 samples) for D. immitis, 5.4% (4 of 74 samples) for duplicate infection with D. immitis and D. repens and 4.1% (3 of 74 samples) for mixed infection with D. immitis, D. repens and A. dracunculoides. It was considered that the paying attention to the existence not only D. immitis but also other microfilariae were needed in canine filariasis.

  • Human articular chondrocytes (HAC) were cultivated as a monolayer in a serum-free medium for primary culture (SFM-P). An optimized SFM-P provides $95\%$ proliferation rate of that obtainable from primary and secondary chondrocyte cultures grown in a control medium with serum. The gradual decrease in the amounts of synthesized glycosaminoglycan and type II collagen was improved by coating the culture dishes with type IV collagen and fibronectin. A significant improvement in the expression of type II collagen and aggrecan mRNA could be achieved. In addition, the monolayer cultures showed better synthesis of the extracellular matrices than alginate-bead cultures in SFM-P.

  • The zone-conditioned CMC equations are derived by taking an unconditional average of the generic conservation equations multiplied by delta and Heaviside functions in terms of mixture fraction and reaction progress variable. The resulting equations are essentially in the same form as the single zone CMC equations except for separate flow fields for burned and unburned gas. The zone-conditioned two-fluid equations are applied to a stagnating turbulent premixed flame brush of Cheng and Shepherd[5l. It is shown that the flame stretch factor is of crucial importance to accurately reproduce the measured mean reaction progress variable and conditional velocities. Further work is in progress for the relationship between surface and volume averages and extension to partially premixed combustion on the basis of a triple flame structure, e. g. in a lifted turbulent diffusion flame.

  • This study was performed to determine the effects of anastomosis on the internal diameter and wall thickness of jugular vein. Tro shepherd dogs were used for this experiment. In dog 1, xylazine(2 mg/kg) and ketamine(5.5 mg/kg) were injected intramuscularly for induction followed by enflurane(3%) anesthesia. In dog 2, acepromazine(0.03 mg/kg) and ketamine(5 mg/kg) were injected intravenously for induction followed by enflurane(3%) anesthesia. The dogs were heparinized(1 mg/kg) for the prevention of thrombosis. After jugular vein was exposed by incision of left cervical area, two Johns Hopkins bulldog clamps were clamped. Jugular vein was cut between two clamps, and it was reanastomosed using 5-0 silk. Ultrasonography was done along the jugular vein on both sides of each dogs 21 days after anastomosis surgery. The internal diameter and circumference of the vein in the anastomosis area were markedly reduced with thickening of the vein wall, but no thrombi were observed.

  • Microsatellite polymorphism and their genetic relationships were estimated using genotype information of 183 dogs from 11 microsatellite loci. The breeds include the indigenous Korean breeds Jindo dog (30), Poongsan dog (20) and Miryang dog (44) together with Chihauhau dog (31) and German Shepherd dog (58). Jindo dogs showed the highest expected heterozygosity (0.796${\pm}$0.030) and polymorphic information contents (0.755) in all populations. The phylogenetic analysis showed the existence of two distinct clusters supported by high bootstrap values: the Korean native dogs and other dogs. They clearly show that Poongsan dog and Miryang dog are closely related to each other when compared with Jindo dog. Microsatellite polymorphism data was shown to be useful for estimating the genetic relationship between Korean native dogs and other dog breeds, and also can be applied for parentage testing in those dog breeds.
