  • As the bibliographic environment has been evolved towards linked data and semantic web, revision of KCR5 based on RDA is also in progress in Korea. Even authorized access points play an important role in identification and linkage between resources in the evolving bibliographic environment. However, the original RDA applied by KCR5 does not provide authorized access points for all entities. Based on the analysis of the authorized access point of manifestation in RDA 2020, this research identified properties and proposed a linking structure of the authorized access point that can be applied to the revision of KCR5. An authorized access point for manifestation is an access point that considers both intellectual and physical aspects, and can be the foundation for linking and identifying actual resources. The proposed structure is expected to be a linking structure for authority record optimized to the current bibliographic environment, which can be helpful in the practical application of the authorized access point for manifestation.

  • Smart TV is expected to bring cloud services based on virtualization technologies to the home environment with hardware and software support. Although most physical resources can be shared among virtual machines (VMs) using a time sharing approach, allocating the proper amount of memory to VMs is still challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel mechanism to dynamically balance the memory allocation among VMs in virtualized Smart TV systems. In contrast to previous studies, where a virtual machine monitor (VMM) is solely responsible for estimating the working set size, our mechanism is symbiotic. Each VM periodically reports its memory usage pattern to the VMM. The VMM then predicts the future memory demand of each VM and rebalances the memory allocation among the VMs when necessary. Experimental results show that our mechanism improves performance by up to 18.28 times and reduces expensive memory swapping by up to 99.73% with negligible overheads (0.05% on average).

  • The purpose of this study is to present the limitation of terminological relationships in the current information environment and to propose a solution to result in the richer and refined terminological resources. For this, various kinds of terminological relationships in knowledge organization systems and theoretical researches were collected and analyzed. Based upon the analysis, a methodology for classification of terminological relationships was suggested and classification models were presented. Additionally, four suggestions were made for the practical uses of the classification models.

  • Recently, an ERP (Enterprise resource Planning) system has been becoming an essential S/W tool for companies to manage their business processes and manufacturing resources. As the information exchange becomes more complex, not only corporate companies but also small- and mid- sized enterprises (SMEs) are required to build an ERP system. However, for small- and middle- sized companies, the adoption of ERP systems becomes challenging due to high cost and long installation time of the system. This paper presents a novel concept of an adaptive ERP system incorporating the ontology structure of the business supply chain information. The proposed ERP installation methodology is illustrated with an example of a door-trim manufacturing company in the automotive supply chain.

  • In this paper, we introduce automatic question generation technique using the language resources like User-Word Intelligent Network(U-WIN) and Korean dictionary including quite a for of information. And we present Korean word learning system with this technique. The item pool method which almost learning-system are using makes some problems. As a solution of the problems, we classified into 8 question type and implemented the Korean word learning system which is making the Korean question automatically by using the morphological and semantic information according to the automatic question generation pattern of each type.

  • With biomedical literature expanding so rapidly, there is an urgent need to discover and organize knowledge extracted from texts. Although factual databases contain crucial information the overwhelming amount of new knowledge remains in textual form (e.g. MEDLINE). In addition, new terms are constantly coined as the relationships linking new genes, drugs, proteins etc. As the size of biomedical literature is expanding, more systems are applying a variety of methods to automate the process of knowledge acquisition and management. In my talk, I focus on the project, GENIA, of our group at the University of Tokyo, the objective of which is to construct an information extraction system of protein - protein interaction from abstracts of MEDLINE. The talk includes (1) Techniques we use fDr named entity recognition (1-a) SOHMM (Self-organized HMM) (1-b) Maximum Entropy Model (1-c) Lexicon-based Recognizer (2) Treatment of term variants and acronym finders (3) Event extraction using a full parser (4) Linguistic resources for text mining (GENIA corpus) (4-a) Semantic Tags (4-b) Structural Annotations (4-c) Co-reference tags (4-d) GENIA ontology I will also talk about possible extension of our work that links the findings of molecular biology with clinical findings, and claim that textual based or conceptual based biology would be a viable alternative to system biology that tends to emphasize the role of simulation models in bioinformatics.

  • In this paper, I describe a knowledge-based question-answering system and significance of the system with a view to constructing a fact database. The knowledge-based system takes advantage of existing NLP-resources such as conceptual structures of ontologies along with morphotogical, syntactic and semantic analysis. The use of conceptual structures allows us to select right answers through inferences basically made by expansions of concepts. However, the work of constructing factual knowledge requires a great amount of acquisition time in large-scale applications because of the nature of human interference. This is why the procedure of acquiring factual knowledge cannot be fully automated. Apart from efficiency considerations. the knowledge-based system deserves serious consideration, I point out benefits of the system and describe the whole procedure of building the system in terms of a fact database.

  • Ontologies, the important implementation tools for semantic web, are widely used in various areas such as search, reasoning, and knowledge representation. Developing well-defined ontologies, however, requires a lot of resources in terms of time and materials. There have been efforts to construct ontologies automatically to overcome these problems. In this paper, ontologies are automatically constructed from the natural languages sentences directly. To do this, the analysis of morphemes and a sentence structure is performed at first. then, the program finds predicates inside the sentence and the predicates are transformed to the corresponding ontology predicates. For matching the corresponding ontology predicate from a predicate in the sentence, we develop the "predicate ontology". An experimental comparison between human ontology engineer and the program shows that the proposed system outperforms the human engineer in an accuracy.

  • In the current information environment around the library community, metadata is recognized as a sophisticated and powerful tool that can manage and represent information resources. However, with the discreet use of the concepts of metadata and metadata standard, there is no clear boundary that differentiates metadata standard from simple resource description and traditional bibliographic structure, leading to confusion as to what a metadata and metadata standard is. To consider these issues, this research discussed what metadata and metadata standards are based previous definitions of metadata. Based on those definitions, the fundamental concept of metadata is reestablished to be properly used in the library community.

  • Current web search includes a lot of different results with information that user does not want, because it searches information using keyword mapping. Ontology can describe the correct meaning of web resource and relationships between web resources. And we can extract suitable information that user wants using Ontology Accordingly, we need the ontology to represent knowledge. W3C announced OWL(Web Ontology Language), meaning description technology for such web resource. However, the development of a special tool that can effectively compose and edit OWL is inactive. In this paper, we designed and developed an OWL authoring system that can effectively provide the generation and edit about OWL.
