  • This is a quasi-experimental study with one-group pretest-posttest design to investigate the effect of dementia club activities on college life satisfaction, dementia knowledge, and dementia attitude in nursing students. The subjects were 26 nursing students who participated in club activities for more than three hours per a week. The college life satisfaction was measured using School Life Satisfaction Scale and dementia knowledge was measuring using Questionnaire for Awareness of Dementia used in dementia prevalence survey. Dementia Attitude Scale (DAS) was used to measure dementia attitude. The tests were performed before and after club activity, and collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test. The results showed that the scores of college life satisfaction (t=-2.38, p= .025), dementia knowledge (t=-5.56, p< .001), dementia attitude social comfort that evaluate emotion, behavior, and awareness about dementia (t=-4.50, p< .001), dementia attitude dementia knowledge (t=-2.59, p= .016), and dementia attitude total score (t=-4.20, p< .001) increased statistically significantly after club activity. It is concluded, based on the results, that the club activities in college improve college life satisfaction, dementia knowledge, and dementia attitude thus provide contribute to caring for patients with dementia. The replication studies with larger random samples, however, are necessary to confirm the findings obtained from this study.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of college sport club participants' ego-resilience on the college adjustment. Research design, data, and methodology: To accomplish the purpose, 360 participants were sampled by means stratified cluster random sampling method. Only 317 questionnaires were statistically processed, while 43 questionnaires were excluded because their respondents failed to complete instrument and judged insincere in filling out questionnaire. To analyze the data collected, statistical techniques, such as descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, independent-sample t-test, and one-way ANOVA, multiple regression analysis were used, and as for difference verification between individual groups in relation to significant results, Duncan's multiple range was conducted. Results: The following results have been drawn out via hypothesis test. First. the background variable of the college sport club participants of was proved to affect the degree of their ego-resilience on the college adjustment. Specifically, their period of participation, frequency of participation and expenses made a statistically meaningful. Second, the college sport club participants of ego-resilience were proved to affect the college adjustment. Academic adjustment, social adjustment, personal-emotional adjustment and institutional attachment made a statistically meaning-full difference. Conclusions: The findings indicate the function of sport club participants' ego-resilience in assisting their adjustment.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of club head and golf ball kinematics and body alignment according to the swing plane during golf driver swing. Method: Sixteen college golfers participated in this study. Kinematic data of the club head and golf ball were collected using golf swing analysis system (Trackman Ver. 3e). The body alignment variables were collected using 8 motion capture system. An Independent samples t-test was used for comparison between the Out-to-In group and In-to-Out group, and the statistical significance level was set at .05. Results: For the club head related variables, club path and club face angle showed higher values in Out-to-In swing plane than In-to-Out swing plane. For the kinematic variables of the golf ball, the total distance showed a higher value in the In-to-Out swing plane than that of the Out-to-In swing plane. For the body alignment, the In-to-Out swing plane showed higher values than the Out-to-In swing plane for the pelvis rotation angle and trunk rotation angle. Conclusion: This study suggest that it would be more effective to use the In-to-Out swing plane for increasing the total distance during the golf driver swing.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate implications of self-directed learning experiments in elementary science education through understanding elementary school students' awareness of their experiences in self-directed learning experiments. Twenty students joined the school science club voluntarily and conducted self-directed learning experiments. We collected data through observation of the experiments, interviews, and questionnaires. The students who participated in the club showed high satisfaction with self-directed learning experiments. The participants were aware that their scientific interest and knowledge, and the confidence in conducting experiments were increased. The students felt positive about the inquiry process of conducting self-directed learning experiments with their own subjects. They also felt a sense of achievement in attempting their experiments in defiance of several failures. The participants realized that the self-directed inquires led to increased declarative and procedural knowledge of science. The students stated that they had some difficulties in coping with the different results contrary to expectations and preparing laboratory materials and instruments. Nonetheless, they showed the promotion of their scientific literacy during overcoming those difficulties. We suggest that self-directed learning experiments can be a more effective way in science learning to make students experience the nature of science than existing school experiments. This can be implemented through a creative experience activities such as science clubs.

  • In this study, we propose a pseudo golf club which can sense user's swing motion and virtual golf simulation system using the pseudo golf club. The proposed system is a virtual golf simulation system of a complex play type in which a player can enjoy various types of golf play according to the user's taste by providing a play mode for hitting an actual golf ball and a play mode for swinging the pseudo golf club. This virtual golf play system calculates and displays the trajectory of a golf ball by a simulator just like playing a real golf, and suggests suitable swing motion, so it helps users to learn golf easily.
