Determinants of Academic Achievement Among High School Seniors

  • This study determines what affects the academic achievement of senior high school students in the context of the individual, family, and school environment. The sample selection consisted of 1484 high school seniors in Korea. The following are the results of this study: First, female students scored higher in academic achievement than male students. Second, academic achievement by male students was related to levels of school satisfaction, academic motivation, and family strength, while academic achievement by female students was related to levels of parents' education, family income, ego-resiliency, school satisfaction, academic motivation, and family strength. Third, the most important predictor of academic achievement for male and female students is academic motivation, followed by school satisfaction. The present study highlighted the necessity to develop academic achievement improvement programs appropriate for both genders of senior high school students.

아동의 학교부적응에 영향을 미치는 관련 변인의 구조분석 (Linear Structural Relationships in Children's School Maladjustment and Related Variables)

  • Causal relationships between school maladjustment and related variables were examined in 371 5th grade elementary school students. School maladjustment was ascertained by revised the School Adjustment Test(Lim, 1993; Song, 1999). After analysis of differences in internal locus of control, academic stress, and academic achievement between the school maladjusted and adjusted groups, the study built a structural equation model of school maladjustment-related variables goodness of fit was tested with LISREL 8 for Windows. Significant differences were found in internal locus of control, academic stress, and academic achievement by level of school maladjustment. Internal locus of control, academic stress, and academic achievement both directly and/or indirectly influenced school maladjustment. These variables explained 64% of the variances in school maladjustment.

보건의료계 학생에서 학업적 대인관계가 학업소진에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Academic Relationships on Academic Burnout in Health Professions Students)

  • There are several dimensions of academic burnout experienced by medical and health science college students. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of academic relationships on academic burnout. Data was collected from 476 Eulji University students using an online survey over 4 days in April of 2018. Of the 264 respondents, 111 studied medicine (42.0%), 105 studied nursing (39.8%), and 48 studied clinical pathology (18.1%). The questionnaire was composed of the following sections: demographics (four questions), general life characteristics (seven questions), academic enthusiasm (eight questions), academic relationships (15 questions), and academic burnout sub-dimensions (partially revised Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey Scale) (11 questions). T-tests and one-way analysis of variance were performed to illustrate the differences among the three departments. The effects of academic relationships and academic enthusiasm on academic burnout were analyzed using linear regression. Comparing the three departments, academic burnout was not found to be statistically significant (p=0.296). However, medical students' academic enthusiasm was significantly lower (p<0.001) and academic relationships were significantly higher (p<0.001) than nursing and clinical pathology students. The difference in academic burnout among the three departments was not significant. However, medical students have stronger academic relationships, while nursing and clinical pathology students were more focused on academics. Relationships and academic enthusiasm contribute to reducing academic burnout. Therefore, strategies need to be developed to deal with academic burnout considering relationship factors.

여고생의 한국 전통음식에 관한 기호도 및 섭취빈도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Korean Traditional Foods Preference and Consumption of female High School Students)

  • This study was carried put to investigate the preference and consumption of Korean traditional foods. Questionnaires were completed by 210 academic female high school students and also by 210 vocational female high school students. The family income of academic high school students was significantly higher than that of vocational high school students and the family size of academic high school students was lancer than that of vocational high school students In the food consumption, academic high school students are broiled foods more frequently and vocational high school student ate noodles more frequently. Academic high school student showed a higher average in the preference of salted sea foods than that of vocational high school students. In the intake of salted sea foods, academic high school student had a higher intake frequency. The preference and intake frequency of salted sea foods increased significantly with their family's income. Also academic high school student showed a higher average in Korean traditional food knowledge. And this knowledge increased significantly with their family's income.

일부 고등학생들의 학업스트레스와 이에 대한 대처방식 및 스트레스 증상 (Academic Stress, Coping Method, and Stress Symptoms of High School Students)

  • Purpose : To investigate academic stress, coping method, and stress symptoms of high school students. Methods : Four hundreds-forty five high school students were studied from 14th July to 21th July, 2006. All subjects were in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade of two high school in Seoul. The academic stress, coping method and stress symptoms were evaluated by questionnaire. Results : Male students showed more academic stress than female students. There was a significant difference in the academic stress according to sex. The 2nd grade students show the highest score of academic stress in the 3 factors(parents, teacher, and friend). Male students used more active coping methods to academic stress than female students. There was a significant difference in the coping methods to academic stress according to sex. There were positive correlations between the academic stress and the stress symptoms. Among the academic stress factors, parents and teacher factor influenced physiologic, psychologic, and behavioral symptom of stress symptoms. The friend factor influenced psychologic and behavioral symptom of stress symptoms. Conclusion : According to the study results, we must provide high school students more effective coping methods to academic stress at school environment.

중학생의 학업적 꾸물거림과 학업성취도에 관한 실증적 인과관계 분석 (An Analysis of Middle School Students' Academic procrastination on Their Academic Achievement)

  • 본 연구는 중학생의 학업적 꾸물거림이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향력을 밝히고자 하였다. 또한 중학생이 인지하는 스트레스 정도가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향력이 있는지를 분석하였다. 먼저 이론적 고찰과 선행연구를 검토하여 중학생의 학업적 꾸물거림의 하위요인인 행동적 요인, 인지적 요인, 정서적 요인이 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 가정하였다. 또한 중학생의 스트레스가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향력이 있는 것으로 가정하였다. 연구결과 중학생의 학업적 꾸물거림의 하위요인인 행동적 요인, 인지적 요인, 정서적 요인이 스트레스와 학업성취도에 부분적으로 직접적인 영향력이 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 중학생의 스트레스는 학업성취도에 미치는 영향력이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 규명된 연구결과를 바탕으로 중학생의 학업성취도에 대한 정책적 시사점을 대안으로 제시하였다.

대학도서관 방문 프로그램을 통한 대학도서관과 학교도서관의 연계 방안 (Cooperative Link between the Academic and School Libraries through Academic Library Visiting Program)

  • 정보사회에서 대학도서관과 학교도서관은 학생의 정보활용능력 신장이라는 공통의 목적을 갖는다. 따라서 대학도서관과 학교도서관은 학생의 정보활용능력을 매개로 연계가 가능하다. 본고에서는 대학과 학교도서관의 연계 방안으로 대학도서관 방문프로그램을 소개하고 제안한다. 학교도서관의 입장에서 이 프로그램은 자료와 사서교사의 부족으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 도서관 기반 학습을 활성화 할 수 있는 대안이 될 수 있다. 대학도서관의 입장에서는 지역사회개방에 따른 자료부족 문제, 사서의 업무 증가 문제. 열람석 부족 문제 등을 해결할 수 있는 하나의 방안이 될 수 있다. 그리고 사서의 교육적 역할 증진에 기여할 것이다.

인문계 고등학생의 학업 스트레스와 수면의 질 관계에서 학업적 자기효능감의 매개효과 (Mediating effects of academic self-efficacy in the relationship between academic stress and sleep quality among academic high school students)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to confirm mediating effects of academic self-efficacy in the relationship between academic stress and sleep quality among academic high school students. Methods: The participants included 195 academic high school students who were attending a private educational institution in the Gwangju or Pusan metropolitan city. Data were collected from September 1 to September 30, 2019. The data were analyzed using PROCESS macro SPSS/WIN 3.2 and bootstrapping was used to test the mediating effects. Results: There were significant relationships between sleep quality and academic stress (r=-.55, p<.001), sleep quality and academic self-efficacy (r=.35, p<.001), and academic stress and academic self-efficacy (r=-.16, p<.020). Academic self-efficacy showed partial mediating effects in the relationship between academic stress and sleep quality. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the development of a program that improves the academic self-efficacy of academic high school students who are experiencing academic stress is a way to improve the quality of their sleep.

영재 청소년의 학업소진이 학교적응에 미치는 영향에서 학업탄력성의 매개 및 조절 효과 (Mediator and Moderator Effects of Academic Resilience in Relation with Academic Burnout and School Adaptation in Gifted Youth)

  • 본 연구에서는 학업소진과 학교적응의 관계에서 영재 청소년의 학업탄력성의 매개효과와 조절효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 인천, 경기, 서울, 창원, 사천 울산 지역의 영재교육원 및 지역영재학급 학생 444명을 대상으로, 학업소진, 학교적응, 영재 청소년의 학업탄력성을 측정하였고, SPSS/WIN 21.0과 AMOS 21.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영재 청소년의 학업소진이 학교적응에 영향을 미치는 데 있어 영재 청소년의 학업탄력성이 완전매개(full mediation)하는 것을 확인하였다. 둘째, 영재 청소년의 학업소진이 학교적응에 미치는 영향에서 영재 청소년의 학업탄력성 수준에 따라 달라지는 조절효과를 검증하였다. 특히, 영재 청소년의 학업탄력성이 높은 집단은 학업소진의 저고에 따른 변화가 거의 없지만, 학업탄력성이 낮은 집단은 학업소진이 커짐에 따라 학교적응이 떨어지는 부적관계를 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 영재 청소년의 학업탄력성의 역할에 대한 현장에서의 시사점을 제시하였다.

An Analysis of the Impact of Adolescents' Impulsivity, Academic Procrastination and School Adaptability Using R

  • This study examines the causal relationship between adolescent impulsivity, academic procrastination and school adaptability. The main purpose of this study is to confirm the degree of influence among these variables and analyze the causes of school adaptability. In this model, impulsivity and academic procrastination were set as independent variables and school adaptability was set as a dependent variable. Impulsivity of adolescents affects academic procrastination and school adaptability, and academic procrastination will affect school adaptability. As a result of the research, first, it can be seen that adolescents 'cognition impulsivity, motion impulsivity, and unplanned impulsivity have a significant influence on behavioral in adolescents'. Second, adolescents' cognition impulsivity, motion impulsivity, and unplanned impulsivity a significant influence on the cognitive in the adolescents'. Third, adolescents' behavioral, cognitive, and emotional have a significant influence on school adaptability in adolescents' school adaptability. In conclusion, we proposed a policy proposal on school adaptability by deriving meaning to improve adolescents' school adaptability.
