This study investigated the influence of major satisfaction on learning flow and self-efficacy of students majoring in culinary arts at local junior colleges. In the 2022-2 semester, 260 freshmen and sophomore college students majoring in culinary from five junior colleges in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions were analyzed. For data processing, SPSS Ver. 25.0 was used. The data is used to measure reliability by Cronbach's α, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows : First, there was a difference in satisfaction between freshmen and sophomores in major satisfaction with cooking related departments at local junior colleges. Second, there was a significant effect of satisfaction with cooking-related majors at local junior colleges on learning immersion. Third, there was a significant effect of satisfaction with cooking-related majors at local junior colleges on self-efficacy. In conclusion, it was found that major satisfaction affects learning immersion and self-efficacy for both students enrolled in cooking-related departments at local junior colleges. In the future, we suggest follow-up research on educational measures to increase learning immersion and self-efficacy for students who are not majoring in cooking in the high school curriculum and students who are insufficient in major classes due to part-time jobs during the semester.
In the near future, as artificial intelligence and computing network technology develop, collaboration with artificial intelligence (AI) will become important. In an AI society, the ability to communicate and collaborate among people is an important element of talent. To do this, it is necessary to understand how artificial intelligence based on computer science works. An algorithmic education focused on problem solving and learning is efficient for computer science education. In this study, the results of an assessment of computational thinking at the beginning of the semester, a satisfaction survey at the end of the semester, and academic performance were compared and analyzed for 28 students who received algorithmic education focused on problem-solving learning. As a result of diagnosing students' computational thinking and problem-solving learning, teaching methods, lecture satisfaction, and other environmental factors, a correlation was found, and regression analysis confirmed that problem-solving learning had an effect on improving lecture satisfaction and computational thinking ability. For algorithmic education, if you pursue a problem-solving learning technique and a way to improve students' satisfaction, it will help students improve their problem-solving skills.
The purpose of this study was to explore factors that affected the satisfaction of students' experiences in an education course, with the educational method and educational technology designed with a blended learning strategy. Blended learning is currently recognized as a good solution for the problems posed by both online and face-to-face learning, because it has features like flexibility and accessibility by using tools supporting both individualization and socialization. This study is one case that illustrates how blended learning can be applied at the university level. Subjects were 56 students who had participated in the class and responded to the survey questions. The gathered data were analyzed by using Factor Analysis and the Structural Equation Model. Based on the results of Factor Analysis, data revealed 5 factors: learning motivation, previous experience, ability to use information & technology, capability of self-regulated learning, and learning satisfaction. The results of the Structural Equation Model revealed causal relationships among the aforementioned factors as follows: (a) there was a statistically meaningful causal relationship between "learning motivation" and "capability of self-regulated learning", (b) there was a statistically meaningful casual relationship between "previous experience" and "capability of self-regulated learning", and (c) "capability of self-regulated learning" directly affected "learning satisfaction".
This study was conducted to verify the effectiveness of learning using micro-running. To this end, the learning materials of the class were produced in three forms: micro-learning, existing e-learning, and handouts, to compare the learning satisfaction and learning effect for college students at Y and K universities located in K-do. First, when using learning materials in the form of micro-learning, learning satisfaction was the highest. Second, the learning effect was effective for both e-learning and micro-learning. And micro-learning was more effective when both types of learning materials were used. The results of this study look forward to activating micro-learning in university by researching micro-learning of the new learning type that emerged as a social phenomenon, highlighting the importance of micro-learning and presenting basic data for subsequent study.
This study was aimed to grasp online learning quality satisfaction in Dental Hygiene students. A survey was conducted targeting finally 228 dental hygiene students at a university in Gangwon Province from February 3, 2021 to February 17. As a result of analysis, the online class satisfaction by good instruction component was lower overall than importance. The learning environment satisfaction was lower than its importance. A difference between importance and satisfaction with online learning by detailed good instruction component showed a relatively big difference in systematic class, online learning environment, ability to convey the class contents. The need for online learning content was high in teaching material and VOD. The class operation type satisfaction was high in a non-real time class. Accordingly, a continuous effort is conceivably necessary for improving quality given the teaching-design establishment of online learning.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the middle school students' perception and their learning satisfaction in SMART learning based science instruction. Three types of modules on the solar system and lunar phases unit at the middle school level were developed and lessons on each module were taught to 207 student participants. All participants were provided with tabletPC(iPad2) with iOS5 installed, and using astronomy app Solar Walk, mirroring function, QR code, and Google Presentation, the lessons were carried out both in classroom and at home. The instrument for assessing students' perception on the SMART learning-based instruction was developed based on 4 factors including Self-directed, Motivation, Adaptiveness, and Technology Embedded, with a Likert scale from 1-5 on 20 items. The learning satisfaction survey instrument was originally from Keller's work (1987), and its test items were adapted and modified. To reveal the perception and learning satisfaction about SMART learning-based science lessons, the participants were comparatively analyzed by gender and science achievement levels. Results indicated that male students showed positive perception for the SMART learning-based instruction. Group with higher science achievement scores showed more positive perception of the SMART learning-based instruction in terms of Self-directed and Motivation factor. Also, the learning satisfaction of male students was higher than female students and group with higher academic ability more satisfied with the SMART learning-based instruction than the low group. The results provide implications for future development of programs and help set a direction of increasing the use of a SMART learning-based science in school.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of case-based learning (CBL) on learning motivation and learning satisfaction of nursing students in a human physiology course. Methods: The development and application of CBL scenarios was conducted from February to June, 2013. Nursing students (n=142) who registered for a human physiology course were assigned into either a control or CLB group. The control group received traditional lectures for 14 weeks. The CBL group received the same 14-week lectures and an additional 5 CBL sessions. The learning motivation and satisfaction were measured by questionnaires at the beginning and the end of the semester. Seven students in the CBL group were randomly selected for a focus-group interview. Quantitative data were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$-test and t-test, and qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. Results: The learning motivation and learning satisfaction were not significantly different between the two groups. However, 59% of the CBL group answered with a positive impression on the CBL approach as it helped them to feel a sense of achievement, excitement, to form their identity as nursing students, and so on. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the CBL could be a challenging but useful learning method in a physiology course for nursing students. Further studies with guidance, such as instructors' questions and feedback design are needed to utilize CBL more effectively.
The purposes of this study were to identify factors affecting the quality of universities' e-learning contents from the perspectives of learners and to find out specific solutions for improving them. To achieve these goals, research questions were established as follows: 1) What factors were influencing the quality of universities' e-learning contents, and how were learners perceived about each factor(by its importance and satisfaction)? 2) Were there any differences on the learners' perceptions about each factor(by its importance and satisfaction)? 3) What were any specific ways to enhance the quality of universities' e-learning contents? The participants were of 543 university students who took at least one e-learning course and were living in the metropolitan areas(Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi). The survey questionnaire was consisted of 38 items developed through the literature review. To analyze the data collected, factor analysis and paired-sample t-test were conducted. The results were as follows: Five identified factors influencing the quality of universities' e-learning contents from the perspectives of learners were instructional strategies, learning contents, usability, evaluation/feedback, and interface design, and all identified factors were statistically significant differences among the learners' perceptions of its importance and satisfaction. The analysis results of importance-satisfaction matrix by each factor showed that 1) learning contents was the factor that current status should be at least continuously maintained, 2) usability, instructional strategies, and evaluation/feedback were the factors that learners' satisfactions still need to be increased although those importances were not relatively high, and 3) interface factor was important, while learners' satisfaction toward it was not much high so that solutions to increase the satisfaction need to be immediately considered. Based on the results, several suggestions to enhance universities' e-learning contents from the learners' perspectives were also recommended.
With the 4th Industrial Revolution, VR/AR technology is developing, and since COVID-19, the use of VR/AR technology is increasing and is being used in various environments. In particular, AR technology can be used in various educational fields and the perception of VR in the educational field and learning satisfaction, problem-solving ability, and self-directed learning ability when using VR were analyzed. It was analyzed that perception of VR and learning satisfaction had a significant correlation at the significance level of 0.001, and problem-solving competency had a significant correlation between learning satisfaction and self-directed learning ability at the significance level of 0.05.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of sign language video location in e-learning system for the hearing-impaired. Background: E-learning education is a good way to resolve the inequality of education for the disabled. Providing a sign language video in e-learning education for the hearing-impaired is very important for their learning. Although the location of sign language video is an important factor in the design of the video, the effect of its location in learning using the e-learning system was not studied. Method: In order to identify the effect of sign language video location on the learning of the hearing-impaired using the e-learning system, the prototypes of the system with different locations were developed. Eighteen people with hearing impairment participated in this experiment. Learning presence, learning immersion, and learning satisfaction were used to measure learning effects with sign language video location. Results: Bottom right position was more preferred through preference evaluation for sign language video location. The learning effect with sign language video location (bottom-left and bottom-right) was not significant. That is, the effects of learning presence, immersion, and satisfaction were not statistically significant with video location. Conclusion: From this study, the following have to be considered in e-learning system design for the hearing-impaired. Although the location of a sign language video is not a significant factor from the experiment, the bottom right position in the design is proposed because learning presence and satisfaction is slightly higher at the bottom right position, and the position is preferred from subjective evaluation. From the analysis of interview data, it was also proposed that the design of a sign language video should be improved for the hearing-impaired. Application: The result of this study can be applied to the e-learning system design for the hearing-impaired.
