Experimental study on analysis of correlation between void fraction and drag reduction rate in air lubrication ship (공기윤활선 모사 실험에서의 공극률 및 마찰저항저감율 상관성 분석을 위한 실험적 연구)

  • The reduction of CO2 emissions has been a key target in the marine industry since the IMO's MEPC published its findings in 2009. Air lubrication method is one of the mature technologies for commercialization to reduce the frictional resistance and enhance fuel efficiency of ships. Since the air lubrication pattern varies according to the ship's standing position and injection flow rate, in order to effectively control the air lubrication system, it is necessary to be able to judge the air layer development state based on the information collected from the monitoring sensor. In this study, we performed the air lubrication ship simulation experiment to measure the void fraction and the frictional resistance. The void fraction was measured to confirm the behavior of the air. Through the measurement of the frictional resistance, the change in frictional resistance reduction rate from the injection point to the longitudinal direction of the ship was confirmed. Based on the measurement results, correlation analysis was performed on void fraction and frictional resistance reduction rate.

  • Rises of temperature and resistance are observed in HTS tapes under over current condition. In this paper, we measured HTS tapes properties under low-over current condition with a little temperature rise as well as high-over current condition with a large temperature rise. According to the results of measurement, rises of temperature and resistance strongly depend on insulation level and duration of over current condition.

  • In this paper we realized non-contact sheet resistance measurement system using eddy current. Proposed system is designed to meet the requirements which is necessary when dealing with conducting thin films on large area LCD panel. With several metals we could get lift-off curves which has the same trend as in principal. Especially in the region of high conductivity this system has more discriminating ability than 4-point probe system.

  • SAW device is widely used as filters, sensors, actuators in various technologies. And capacitive sensor is tremendously used to measure pressure, gap, etc. The application of SAW device as signal conditioner of capacitive sensor reduces noise level and enables high precision measurement. The response increase of SAW based capacitive sensor is produced just before the two capacitive electrode contacts by the existence of parasitic resistance of capacitive electrode. In this paper, we analyze the effects of parasitic resistance and propose the calibrating method using lumped component and execute the high precision gap measurement using calibrated system. And xx nm resolution and yy ${\mu}m$ stroke was attained.

  • The ground resistance has been used as a method of estimating the capability of counterpoise. When transient currents blow through a ground electrode, it is reasonable to evaluate the performance of ground electrode system as a ground impedance instead of ground resistance. However, the measurement method of ground impedance for counterpoise is not clearly presented. This paper describes the measurement method of ground impedance considering the earth mutual resistances and AC mutual coupling. When we measure the ground impedance, the error due to earth mutual resistances depends on the distance between the auxiliary electrodes and the electrode under test. The measurement accuracy of high frequency ground impedance is mainly influenced by the location of the current electrode and the potential electrode.

Changes in Muscle Activity and Thickness of Resistance Exercise added Aerobic Exercise and Pure Resistance Exercise (유산소 병행 운동과 순수 저항 운동의 근활성도 및 근 두께의 변화)

  • This study aims to compare the effects of pure resistance exercise and resistance exercise added aerobic exercise for enhancing muscle strength of the femoral region and provide the evidentiary materials of an exercise program for improving muscle strength in clinical setting. Muscle activity of rectus femoris showed statistically significant differences after experiment compared to before experiment in the two groups and resistance exercise added aerobic exercise group showed statistically significant difference compared to pure resistance exercise group in group comparison according to the period of measurement. Thickness of rectus femoris showed no significant difference after experiment compared to before experiment in both groups, but resistance exercise added aerobic exercise group showed statistically significant difference after experiment compared to before experiment in group comparison according to the period of measurement. In conclusion, it was found that aerobic exercise after resistance exercise was more effective in enhancing muscle activity and thickness than pure resistance exercise for enhancing muscle activity.

  • In this study, we made the system to measure variation of blood flow using bio-electrical impedance analysis method. The system, which could measure variation of impedance according to pressure change by artificial pressure, consists of pressure measurement and impedance measurement by 4-electrode method. Pressure measurement splits into semiconducting pressure sensor and electronic circuit for processing output signal. In addition, impedance measurement splits into constant current source circuit and lock-in amplifier for detection impedance signal. We experimented feature of impedance measurement using standard resistance to evaluate the system characteristic. As well as, we experimented to estimate variation of blood flow by measuring impedance and blood flow resistance ratio using mean arterial pressure and variation of blood flow with experimental group. As result of this study, blood flow resistance ratio and variation of blood flow were definitely in inverse proportion and were -0.96776 as correlation coefficient by correlation analysis.

  • In this study, uncertainty analysis based on ITTC(International Towing Tank Conference) Recommended Procedures is carried out in the towing-tank experiment for motion responses and added resistance. The experiment was conducted for KVLCC2 model in head sea condition. The heave, pitch and added resistance were measured in different wave conditions, and the measurement was repeated up to maximum 15 times in each wave condition in order to observe the uncertainty of measured data. The uncertainty analysis was carried out by adopting the ISO-GUM(International Organization for Standardization, Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurements) method recommended by ITTC. This paper describes the details about the analysis method, uncertainty and the measured uncertainty for each source. The uncertainty analysis results are summarized as a tabular form. To validate the accuracy of the present measurement, the experimental results are compared with the results of numerical computation and other experiment. From the present uncertainty analysis, the main sources of uncertainty are identified, which can be very useful to improve the accuracy for added resistance experiment.

A Study on Estimation Model of Resistance Value from Change of PTH Crack Size (PTH Crack을 고려한 저항 변화 추정 모델)

  • PTH cracks are caused by the mismatch of coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE) between polymer and laminated materials, and are one of the main failure mechanisms of multi layer boards. In spite of its importance, it is usually hard to measure or detect them because of its small size and invisibility. To detect PTH cracks more effectively, this paper proposes a theoretical model that can estimate the resistance value from crack size of PTHs. Using four-point probe resistance measurement method, the resistance value of test coupons is measured. Through measured data, we verify the validity of the proposed theoretical model and set up criteria of failure.
