  • In Korea, even though many aspects of medical care system for the elderly have been considered. Until now, most people have realized that the conceptualization range of geriatric hospital is the same as recuperation hospital. However the recent geriatric hospital includes a short term treatment like general hospitals, together with that it has a tendency to increase the propotion of rehabilitationby the Introduction of the concept of active rehabilitation treatment for returning to society. Unlike the general hospitals, geriatric hospital has got different characteristics in a managing and patient. However this is not a concrete standard of faacilities by the law of health welfare and medical. So these kinds of research will have to keep continuing. What I want to say In this study is that the prominence of information, which is based on the existing data analysis, is what forms my latest projects that engage with a wider repertoire of strategies and approaches toward architectural problem.

  • Antibodies are powerful defense tools against pathogens but may cause autoimmune diseases when erroneously directed toward self-antigens. Thus, antibody producing cells are carefully selected, refined, and expanded in a highly regulated microenvironment (germinal center) in the peripheral lymphoid organs. A subset of T cells termed T follicular helper cells (Tfh) play a central role in instructing B cells to form a repertoire of antibody producing cells that provide life-long supply of high affinity, pathogenspecific antibodies. Therefore, understanding how Tfh cells arise and how they facilitate B cell selection and differentiation during germinal center reaction is critical to improve vaccines and better treat autoimmune diseases. In this review, I will summarise recent findings on molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying Tfh generation and function with an emphasis on T cell costimulation.

  • Acute renal failure (ARF) is common in the neonatal period, however, there are no uniform treatment strategies of ARF. The main treatment strategies are conservative management including medical treatment and the renal replacement therapy. Because ARF in the newborn is commonly acquired by hypoxic ischemic injury and toxic insults, removal of all the offending causes is important. Aminoglycoside, indomethacin, and amphotericin-B are the most common nephrotoxic drugs of ARF. To relieve the possible prerenal ARF, initial fluid challenge can be followed by diuretics. If there is no response, fluid restriction and correction of electrolyte imbalance should begin. Adequate nutritional support and drug dosing according to the pharmacokinetics of such drugs will be difficult problems. Renal replacement therapies may be provided by peritoneal dialysis, intermittent hemodialysis, or hemofiltration. New promising agents, bioartificial kidney, and stem cell will enable us to extend our therapeutic repertoire.

  • Early detection and intervention is critical in improving prognosis of developmental disorders. Developmental delay can have many different causes and the clinical features of developmental delay are diverse according to its etiologic causes and severity. The vast and rapid growth of the child's neurobehavioral repertoire from birth through adolescence requires the physician's abundant experience, knowledge, and understanding of development. Here, we summarize instruments for use in neurodevelopmental assessment of infants and toddlers, focusing on motor development, which is the most frequent complaint listed in the developmental clinic.

  • This case study describes the nature of young children's responses in the informational picturebook reading process through the eyes of 4 young children. Over a twenty week period from September 3, 2007 to February 15, 2008, researcher observed 4 young children while they read informational picturebooks and interacted with one another in terms of what they had read. The young children's personalities, preferences and environments as individual background clearly influenced responses and interaction during the reading process. By acknowledging the response styles of young children, a teacher can assist young children in developing a repertoire of responses to informational picturebooks.

  • In the post genome project era, it is well established that the human genome contains a smaller number of genes than expected. The complexity found in higher organisms can be explained if proteins are multifunctional. Indeed, recent studies are continuing to reveal proteins that are capable of a broad repertoire of functions. A good paradigm for multifunctionality can be found in the amino-acyl tRNA synthetases (aaRSs), an ancient conserved family of proteins. This unique family, which is comprised of 20 different enzymes, is well known for its participation in protein synthesis. Several studies have described numerous examples of these "housekeeping" proteins taking part in extensive critical cellular activities. In this review, we focus on a member of that family, lysyl-tRNA synthetase (LysRS), which has been shown to have a dual functionality. In addition to its contribution to the translation process, LysRS also takes part in the regulation of MITF and USF2 target genes. This phenomenon was first described in mast cells.

  • Domains are the building blocks of proteins. Exon shuffling is an important mechanism accounting for combination of a limited repertoire of protein domains in the evolution of multicellular species. A relative excess of domains encoded by symmetric exons in metazoan phyla has been presented as evidence of exon shuffling, and symmetric domains can be divided into old and new domains by determining the ages of the domains. In this report, we compare the spread, versatility, and subcellular localization of old and new domains by analyzing eight metazoan genomes and their respective annotated proteomes. We found that new domains have been expanding as multicellular organisms evolved, and this expansion was principally because of increases in class 1-1 domains amongst several classes of domain families. We also found that younger domains have been expanding in membranes and secreted proteins along with multi-cellular organism evolution. In contrast, old domains are located mainly in nuclear and cytoplasmic proteins. We conclude that the increasing mobility and versatility of new domains, in contrast to old domains, plays a significant role in metazoan evolution, facilitating the creation of secreted and transmembrane multidomain proteins unique to metazoa.

  • Vocal repertoires of the B1ack-tailed gull (Larus crassirostris) were studied at established reproductive colonies. The Black-tailed gull has eleven different vocal signals which can be grouped into three different call classes according to behavioral functions: contact call, alarm call (attention call), and aggressive call. The contact call or mew call is the most frequently used and functions as means of recognition among individuals, particularly between parents and youngs. Our results show that each call plays .an important role in particular social relationships in a high- density breeding colony.

  • Volatile compounds (VOCs) are not only media for communication within a species but also effective tools for sender to manipulate behavior and physiology of receiver species. Although the influence of VOCs on the interactions among organisms is evident, types of VOCs and specific mechanisms through which VOCs work during such interactions are only beginning to become clear. Here, we review the fungal volatile compounds (FVOCs) and their impacts on different recipient organisms from perspective of distinct lifestyles of the filamentous fungi. Particularly, we discuss the possibility that different lifestyles are intimately associated with an ability to produce a repertoire of FVOCs in fungi. The FVOCs discussed here have been identified and analyzed as relevant signals under a range of experimental settings. However, mechanistic insight into how specific interactions are mediated by such FVOCs at the molecular levels, amidst complex community of microbes and plants, requires further testing. Experimental designs and advanced technologies that attempt to address this question will facilitate our understanding and applications of FVOCs to agriculture and ecosystem management.
