  • We show that a (possibly unbounded) linear operator, T, is scalar on the real line (spectral operator of scalar type, with real spectrum) if and only if (iT) generates a uniformly bounded semigroup and $(1-iT)(1+iT)^{-1}$ is scalar on the unit circle. T is scalar on [0, $\infty$) if and only if T generates a uniformly bounded semigroup and $(1+T)^{-1}$ is scalar on [0,1). By analogy with these results, we define $C^0$-scalar, on the real line, or [0. $\infty$), for an unbounded operator. We show that a generator of a positive-definite group is $C^0$-scalar on the real line. and a generator of a completely monotone semigroup is $C^0$-scalar on [0, $\infty$). We give sufficient conditions for a closed operator, T, to generate a positive-definite group: the sequence < $\phi(T^{n}x)$ > $_{n=0}^{\infty}$ must equal the moments of a positive measure on the real line, for sufficiently many positive $\phi$ in $X^{*}$, x in X. If the measures are supported on [0, $\infty$), then T generates a completely monotone semigroup. On a reflexive Banach lattice, these conditions are also necessary, and are equivalent to T being scalar, with positive projection-valued measure. T generates a completely monotone semigroup if and only if T is positive and m-dispersive and generates a bounded holomorphic semigroup.

  • Strong convergence theorems on viscosity approximation methods for finding a common zero of a finite family accretive operators are established in a reflexive and strictly Banach space having a uniformly G$\hat{a}$teaux differentiable norm. The main theorems supplement the recent corresponding results of Wong et al. [29] and Zegeye and Shahzad [32] to the viscosity method together with different control conditions. Our results also improve the corresponding results of [9, 16, 18, 19, 25] for finite nonexpansive mappings to the case of finite pseudocontractive mappings.

  • Let $\Gamma$ be a bounded rotation (BR) curve without cusps in the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$ and let G := int $\Gamma$. We prove that the rate of convergence of the interpolating polynomials based on the zeros of the Faber polynomials $F_n\;for\;\bar G$ to the function of the reflexive Smirnov-Orlicz class $E_M (G)$ is equivalent to the best approximating polynomial rate in $E_M (G)$.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new class of uniformly point-wise R-subweakly commuting self-mappings and prove several common fixed point theorems and best approximation results for uniformly point-wise R-subweakly commuting asymptotically I-nonexpansive mappings in normed linear spaces. We also establish some results concerning strong convergence of nearest common fixed points of asymptotically I-non-expansive mappings in reflexive Banach spaces with a uniformly G$\^{a}$teaux differentiable norm. Our results unify and generalize various known results given by some authors to a more general class of noncommuting mappings.

  • G-vector-valued sequence space frames and g-Banach frames for Banach spaces are introduced and studied in this paper. Also, the concepts of duality mapping and ${\beta}$-dual of a BK-space are used to define frame mapping and synthesis operator of these frames, respectively. Finally, some results regarding the existence of g-vector-valued sequence space frames and g-Banach frames are obtained. In particular, it is proved that if X is a separable Banach space and Y is a Banach space with a Schauder basis, then there exist a Y-valued sequence space $Y_v$ and a g-Banach frame for X with respect to Y and $Y_v$.

  • We prove that a Banach space that is convex-transitive and such that for some element u in the unit sphere, and for every subspace Μ containing u, it happens that the subset of norm attaining functionals on Μ is second Baire category in $M^{*}$ is, in fact, almost-transitive and superreflexive. We also obtain a characterization of finite-dimensional spaces in terms of functions that attain their supremum: a Banach space is finite-dimensional if, for every equivalent norm, every rank-one operator attains its numerical radius. Finally, we describe the subset of norm attaining functionals on a space isomorphic to $\ell$$_1$, where the norm is the restriction of a Luxembourg norm on $L_1$. In fact, the subset of norm attaining functionals for this norm coincides with the subset of norm attaining functionals for the usual norm.m.

  • Let consider the following problem: find an element u(t) in a Banach space U from the equation $$ x'(t) = Ax(t) + f(t,x(t)) + \Phi_0 u(t), 0 \leq t \leq T $$ with initial and terminal conditions $$ x(0) = 0, x(T) = \phi $$ in a Banach space X where $\phi \in D(A)$. This problem is a kind of control engineering inverse problem and contains nonlinear term, so that it is difficult and interesting. Thee proof main result in this paper is based on the Fredholm property of [1] in section 3. Similar considerations of linear system have been dealt with in many references. Among these literatures, Suzuki[5] introduced this problem for heat equation with unknown spatially-varing conductivity. Nakagiri and Yamamoto[2] considered the identifiability problem, which A is a unknown operator to be identified, where the system is described by a linear retarded functional differential equation. We can also apply to determining the magnitude of the control set for approximate controllability if X is a reflexive space, i.e., we can consider whether a dense subset of X is covered by reachable set in section 4.
