A Study on the Effects of the District Heating as an Air Pollution Control Strategy (대기오염 방지대책으로서 지역난방의 효과분석에 관한 연구)

  • This Study shows the effect of the district heating on the $SO_2$ concentration reduction. In order to analyze the effect of the district heating, three alternatives were set up as follows; Alternative I represented present central heating system, and Alternative II and Alternative III represented district heating system of which the scale were different from. The concludions of this study are as follows; In case of the Alternative II and III, annual average $SO_2$ concentration are reduced by 9.0% and 14.6% respectively, and winter season $SO_2$ concentrations are reduced by 12.2% and 15.8% respectively, at the highest points. The average reduction rates of $SO_2$ concentration in the district heating area are about the same as the reduction rates at the highest points. Also, it was found that using the district heating system, the ground level $SO_2$ concentrations could be reduced within the area of 5 to 10 km radius.

Development of VSL Control Algorithms for Various Traffic Conditions in Tunnels (교통상황별 터널부 VSL 표출제어 알고리즘 개발)

  • This paper developed the VSL control algorithms for various traffic conditions in tunnels. Various algorithms determining control speed, buffer speed, and display time were suggested in order to apply three gantry locations. The algorithms were evaluated by constructing simulation environments using python and VISSIM Com-Interface. Results show that speed difference between congested flow and normal flow was 50 km/h without algorithm application, but the difference was reduced to 20 km/h with algorithm application. In addition, the length of congested region in the exit section of the tunnel was also reduced from 800m to 300m with algorithm application. It is expected that the traffic accidents in tunnels may be reduced since the average and standard deviation of the speed are greatly reduced after applying the algorithms suggested.

  • This article proposes a new technique of the dynamic model using multi-body dynamic analysis tool for a flexible main spindle rotor system with a novel phase adjusting control technique for the purpose of an active control of rotor vibration. The dynamic model is used as a plant model. Also in order to make control system, a component parameters and phase controller is composed and simulated by SIMULINK. The vibration is reduced to 50%. Therefore the ADAMS dynamic model for the flexible main spindle rotor and the phase adjusting control techniques may be effective for the suppressing the vibration and helpful for the future active control for rotor vibration.

  • The motion of animals and gymnasts in the air as well as free flying space robots without thrusters are subjected to nonholonomic constraints generated by the law of conservation of angular momentum. The purpose of this paper is to derive analytical posture control laws for free flying objects in the air. We propose the bang-bang control method for trajectory planning of a 3 link mechanical system with initial angular momentum. This technique is used to reduce the DOF (degrees of freedom) at first switching phase and to determine the control inputs to steer the reduced order system to the desired position. Computer simulations for motion planning of an athlete approximated by 3 link, namely platform diving, are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

  • Efficient control of a marine engine requires an engine control unit (ECU) system that handles fast and precise signal processes for in-coming and out-going signals from fast running engines. In order to handle these roles, the sequential control has been adapted in the ECU system in small and medium size ship engines, which has caused high production cost and complexity of the system. Hence, this paper is focused on developing an distributed ECU system for high speed and high precision control of a marine engine by efficiently combining a CPLD chip and a microprocessor. By sharing load at the MCU with the designed CPLD chip, we could achieve in driving a marine engine with high speed and precise control so that the ECU board has been simplified and its production cost has been reduced.

  • This paper presents a neural network approach to control exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) in a Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG) engine. In order to meet Increasingly stringent automotive exhaust emission regulations, alternative fuels such as LPG engines have been developed in many countries. HC&CO emissions of LPG engines can be easily reduced through air-fuel ratio control, but the control effect on NOx reduction is not good enough.   • This paper is a study about Ac servo motor position and speed control characteristics which depend on feedforward control, the acceleration / deceleration time constant after the interpolation, and PI control, automatic deceleration at corner in order to shape cutting control of feed drive system of the machine tool. The shape error caused by delay of the servo system in the direction of radius at the time of circular cutting is reduced by feedforward control. The shape error generated by the position command delay is minimized by using the acceleration / deceleration time constant after the interpolation. The results were verified to optical machining center experimentation of the machine tool.

  • This paper discuss the real-time self-tuning learning control based on evolutionary computation, which proves its the superiority in the finding of the optimal solution at the off-line learning method. The individuals are reduced in order to learn the evolutionary strategy in real-time, and new method that guarantee the convergence of evolutionary mutations are proposed. It possible to control the control object varied as time changes. As the state value of the control object is generated, applied evolutionary strategy each sampling time because the learning process of an estimation, selection, mutation in real-time. These algorithms can be applied, the people who do not have knowledge about the technical tuning of dynamic systems could design the controller or problems in which the characteristics of the system dynamics are slightly varied as time changes.

  • In order to improve stability and controllability of SUV vehicle, Integrated Dynamics Control system with Steering system (IDCS) was developed. Eight degree of freedom vehicle model and front and rear steering system model were used to design IDCS system. It also employs Fuzzy logic control method to design integrate control system. The performance of IDCS was evaluated with two road conditions and several driving conditions. The result shows that SUV vehicle with IDCS tracked the reference yaw rate under all tested conditions. IDCS reduced the body slip angle also. It represents IDCS improves vehicle stability and steerability.
